Katherine's POV
We all stood by George's bed, fussing over him like one would do to a newborn.
"Father," Emily cried, rushing to his side and cradling his head in her hands.
"Gramps," Jack and John sighed, their eyes misting with unshed tears as they stared at him.
I couldn't keep the tears off my face either and let them flow freely, my tears leaking as I stared at George. He looked shrunken on the bed as if he had lost pounds of flesh and I wondered how quick it was for someone to deteriorate that fast within days.
He hadn't been in the best of shape lately but he didn't look as worse as he did at the moment.
He looked frail and vividly more than his age that I wanted to pull him into my hand and cradle him like Emily was doing.
I didn't dare move forward though as cradling him with Emily would be as close as the two of us choosing to suffocate him. I also couldn't try moving further than where I was as my belly was going to be a hindrance.
