Chapter 10 - Tangled Secrets and Silent Suspicions

Damian's POV

The office felt unusually quiet as I sat across from my grandfather, Mordecai Killey. His stern eyes bore into mine as he set his teacup down.

"Go on another date with her."

I blinked. "Excuse me?"

"The girl from the last blind date. She seems to have caught your interest, and I liked the reports I heard. Go again."

I wanted to protest. I wanted to say no. But instead, I found myself dialing Ethan.

"Hey," I said when he picked up. "Can you do me a favor?"

"Depends," Ethan said with that usual edge in his voice. "What is it?"

"Escort the girl from the blind date again. Grandfather is insisting I see her one more time. Just make sure she's there."

"Are you seriously making me a blind-date babysitter now?" he grumbled. "Fine. Text me the details."

Lisa's POV

I was in my office when my phone buzzed.

Dad:He's asked for another date. Don't mess this one up.

My heart stopped. Why now? Damian was supposed to be disinterested. That was the plan.

I stood, grabbed my phone, and marched down the hall to find Christina.

Lisa: "You told me he wasn't interested in marriage!"

Christina's POV

I nearly choked on my coffee when Lisa stormed in.

"What are you talking about?"

"He asked me out again! He wants another date! And you said he didn't want to marry anyone!"

I sighed, rubbing my forehead. "You don't get it. That's why I went all out to scare him off. He wasn't supposed to like me."

Lisa huffed. "You have to go again. Pretend to be me again. Make sure he wants nothing to do with either of us."

I stared at her. "Fine. I'll make sure this date is the last."

Later That Evening

I changed into a red dress with thin straps, paired it with matching heels, a sleek black hat, and a red handbag. Just as I reached the door, I turned around, went back into my room, and applied makeup—just enough to alter my features slightly. He couldn't recognize me.

When I arrived at the restaurant, my heart pounded. I looked around, then saw him.

No. Not him.

"Sorry, looks like I'm at the wrong table," I said quickly. It was Ethan. Thank God he didn't know the truth.

I texted Lisa under the table: Ethan's here. Why didn't you warn me?

But I had bigger problems. Damian was already at the table nearby.

I took a deep breath and strutted to the table, sitting down.

Date Begins

I kicked my foot up against the table. "Oh, sorry!" I smiled sweetly at my heels. "My baby, did I scare you? It's just a bump. It's okay." Then I patted my handbag. "You too, huh? Did you get startled, my darling babies?"

Christina's Thoughts:How's that for a turn-off? Crazy material girl, check.

He didn't flinch. Instead, he was calmly checking his phone.

"What are you doing?"

"Oh, sorry. Just got a message from work. So, what were you saying?"

This isn't working, I thought.

"We're feeling sad."

He raised an eyebrow. "Sorry?"

"You're clearly not interested in me. How do you think that makes me feel? Samantha and Rachel don't appreciate it either."

"Who?"

I leaned forward. "The left one is Samantha. The right one's Rachel. I spent a whopping ten million won on these babies."

I used my hand to gently boop his. "Hiiiii."

He picked up his tea but nearly choked as he glanced at me again.

"Sometimes I get a little silly, don't you think?"

To my surprise, he smiled. "Actually, hypocrisy is prevailing amongst most of us. Your straightforward remark is a novelty."

I blinked. What the hell does that mean? A novelty?

This isn't working... time for the final measure

She leaned forward and purred. "Oh? So, you really like me, don't you?"

Damian raised an eyebrow. "Excuse me?"

She ran a finger through her hair dramatically. "Then should we… get a room?" She bit her finger playfully, shaking her leg under the table.

Damian looked under the table, then back at her, amused. "Get a room?"

She nodded confidently. "Yes, then we could really get down to business."

A few moments later, they were at the restaurant's hotel section.

Christina's jaw dropped. "No way…"

Damian smirked, turning toward her. "Shall we?"

Christina forced a nervous smile. "Y-Yeah…"

She hesitated before following him. But just as she was about to run, she bumped into a woman.

Christina's thoughts: What now? What's gonna happen when we get up there? Lisa's forgiveness isn't worth this. Just run. She'll have to forgive me

"Oh my god, I'm so sorry—"

Before she could finish, the woman grabbed her hair.

"And where do you think you're going?"

Christina gasped, struggling. "What the—? Let go of me!"

The woman scoffed. "Nice try, bitch. You have no idea who I am

Christina blinked. "I really don't."

The woman sneered. "I'm Min-sik's girlfriend."

Christina's eyes widened. "Who the hell is Min-sik?"

The woman held up her phone, showing a picture of someone who looked exactly like Christina, wearing the same outfit.

Damian leaned in slightly, glancing at the photo.

Christina stammered. "Uh… but… she… I mean, yeah, she looks—" She let out an awkward laugh. "Okay, yeah, we do look alike, but this is just a misunderstanding!"

Damian sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

The woman raised a hand to slap Christina, but Damian grabbed her wrist.

"Why don't you go get your boyfriend under control?" he said coldly.

Christina exhaled in relief, hiding behind Damian. That was close…

Christina blinked. "Oh, thank god." She quickly hid behind him, using him as a shield.

Damian smirked. "You certainly have a talent for getting into trouble."

Christina's thoughts:This night couldn't have gone worse… or could it?
