"YAAAAYYYY~!" Lovely cheered on top of the bed in the dimly lit dorm room. "IT IS NOW TIME FOR...!"
"MOVIE NIGHT~! YEAAAHHH!!!" she squealed, pressing her body closer on Mash.
Lovely in her spirit form wore a soft pair of white pajamas, intricately designed with stars and cloud while she wrap herself around Mash like he's a body pillow. Meanwhile, a school issued laptop is sitting in front of them.
"Woah, woah there, Lovely," Mash chuckled, trying not to spill the popcorn he'd been holding. "You don't have to be that excited."
"Of course I'm excited, Darling~!" Lovely puffed her cheeks.
"I get to be alone with my Darling, cuddled up on the bed with a warm blanket wrapped around us, and—" her voice rose to a triumphant squeal, "I'M WATCHING MY VERY FIRST MOVIE EVER! How can I not be excited, Darling~"
"What!?" Mash blinked. "Wait. this will be your first movie? Like, ever, in your long lifespan?"
"Ehe~ yeah." She gave a sheepish laugh, twirling a strand of her silver hair. "I was usually too busy designing traps and watching people suffer from them inside my office. And even when I wasn't, I just read some romance and action novels from the library~"
"Sheesh, what a boring life." Mash gave her a look somewhere between amusement and pity. "And you really lived like that for over a hundred years and didn't get bored out of your mind?"
"Well…" she glanced down at her lap, smiling softly. "It did get boring after a while, I even thought about quitting a few times..."
"But now that I'm with my Darling~ and also other friends like Lexy and Jaden... Every single day feels like a new experience!" Her eyes sparkled again. "So, what kind of movie are we watching~?"
"I picked one that is really popular right now called, 'If Dad didn't marry Mom'." Mash said, as he typed on the laptop. "It's a sad one if I recall."
"WHAAAAAT!!???" Lovely's jaw dropped. "BUT I WANTED TO WATCH SOME ACTIONS OR ROMANCE FILMS!!!"
"Sure, we can watch them..." Mash shot her a teasing smirk. "Only if you don't cry while watching this one."
"HUH!? Are you challenging me, Darling~?" Her pride flared instantly.
"OHOHOHO~!" She laughed and raised a finger dramatically. "Crying from just moving pictures? Such a thing is beneath me! For I, Lovely Labrynth of the Silver Castle, will not even shed a single drop of tear!"
---
Several hours later…
"HUWEEEEHHHHH!!!"
Lovely was crying uncontrollably, her face flushed red, and tears stream down her cheeks like a waterfall.
"WHY MUST THE MOTHER DIEEEEE!!!" she cried while hugging Mash. "SHE DESERVED BETTER! HIKS!"
"Haha, yeah that was a pretty good sad movie, the actors did a really good job making everything feel emotional." Mash wipes out some of his tears. "It even brings me to tears a bit."
"HOW COULD YOU NOT CRY MUCH FROM THAT!?" Lovely sniffled, glaring at him.
"Well... I have watched many movies with my friends, so you could say that my sadness tolerance is pretty good." Mash rubbed the back of his neck, grinning sheepishly.
"Though, how was the movie?"
"HIKS! HIKS! It should've been the deadbeat father who died! He literally did nothing but be a nuisance the entire movie! Making the mother do all the work for the whole family to the point she got cancer and..." Tears started rolling out again. "AND THEN SHE STILL SMILED AT THE END—!!!"
Mash sighed fondly and patted her back. "There, there. You did great for your first movie night."
"Is this… what being human feels like?" she whispered. "To live so briefly that every moment with someone you love becomes precious the second they're gone…?"
"Alright, Lovely, let's not get all philosophical."
She laughed faintly, wiping her eyes. "Heh… But that was a really good movie about a mothers blind love. Thank you, Darling. I'll cherish this memory until the end of my days."
Mash stared at her, the way the light from the lamp reflect on her silver hair and horns, the puffiness in her eyes, and that soft curve of her smile. Mash thinks that this life in this other world was more like heaven than reality.
However...
"…Though speaking of blind love," Mash said hesitantly. "Lovely."
"Hm~?"
Mash stared for a long moment before finally speaking.
"Why did you love me?"
"!?" Lovely tilted her head. "What do you mean by that, Darling?"
Mash exhaled. "You heard me. I mean... just look at me."
"I'm some lazy nerd with an unhealthy obsession with a children's card game. I spend my time dueling on screens, scrolling memes, and acting like a total idiot." Mash forced a laugh, one that sounded more like a sigh. "And let's be honest… my personality's kind of crap and I thought that you would hate me over time..."
"Basically, what I'm saying is..." His eyes softened as he looked down. "you deserve better than someone like me. That's what I'm feeling."
"Darling..."
Lovely blinked once, then smiled. "Hohoho~ I knew that this would happen sooner or later~"
"Huh!?" Mash blinked, confused. "what are you talking about?"
"What if I told you..." she said, leaning in closer toward Mash face with a teasing expression, "that I know a lot more about you than you think~?"
Mash eyes widened. "What? What's that supposed to mean?"
"Ohohoho~ How about we jog some memory, shall we~" Lovely's eyes gleamed. "Like the time you got in trouble because you got caught playing Master Duel in class~?"
Mash's face instantly went red. "W-wait—hold on—!"
"Or that time when you threw your phone at the wall because you lost to some meta deck, which cracked your phone screen?" she continued sweetly, tilting her head.
"Oh, or that glorious moment when you grinded three days straight to Master Rank without taking even a single shower~?"
"ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT, I GET IT! STOP!!" Mash groaned, burying his face in his hands. "How the hell do you even know all that!?"
"Well..." Lovely chuckles.
"That's because I'm also a reincarnate, Darling~"
"Just like you~"
"I was the Lovely you used in your deck."
"The same one who fought by your side… until your last breath."
For a long moment, Mash just stared at her.
Then, slowly, something clicked in his head. "Ohhh… that explains so much of why you knew about the game way too well for a duel spirit..."
"But… what's that got to do with my question?"
Lovely sighed softly. "You really don't get it, do you?" She looked at him fondly.
"Every day and every night, I saw that same face of yours up there in the sky, where you'd command me through countless duels… against dragons, machines, gods, even girls who looked way too cute to be attacking me." She pouted slightly, then smiled again. "And through every single new meta, you never abandoned me by switching to a new archetype. You always stayed with me, and that makes me happy."
"Well, except during event duel's... For some reason, they always banned me."
"So tell me, Darling... do you really think I wouldn't start feeling something for you after all that? After seeing your joy, your frustration, your victories, your defeats... every emotion reflected in that screen above me? It was always you."
"Lovely..." Mash's chest tightened, his heart beating as fast as a nascar, and her face as close as a few centimeters from him.
Before Mash could respond, Lovely suddenly wrapped her arms around him, pulling him into a tight kiss. Even though she's just a spirit, Mash still could felt her soft, warm lips as her tongue danced around each other mouth.
When Lovely pulled away, she smiled sweetly at him.
"I love you." Lovely whispered.
"Because you were always by my side. Because you stayed loyal, through every duel, every loss, and every win... And now, to be able to touch you, to talk to you, to be embraced…"
Lovely rest her hands on her chest. "it feels like a dream come true."
Mash smiled, his embarrassment fading into a soft smile. "Thanks, Lovely."
"Ehe~" Lovely giggled, then suddenly pushed Mash backward, making him flop onto the bed. She then leaned down on top of Mash. "I'll always be by your side, Darling~ Just like you were for me~"
Mash chuckled, reaching up to brush a few strands of her hair away, his fingertips tracing the smooth curve of her silver horns.
"Yeah," Mash murmured. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
