Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

I didn't know how long I had been out, but eventually, I slowly opened my eyes, blinking against the soft light spilling through the window. My head felt heavy, as though a thick fog had settled inside my mind, and it was slowly lifting. The process was gradual, but soon enough, the pieces of my new reality began to fall into place.

I wasn't in my world anymore. I was somewhere else—My Hero Academia's universe. The truth hit me with a cold wave of realization. This wasn't just a dream. No, I was inhabiting the body of Jin Kuroda, a 14-year-old kid living in this chaotic, hero-infused world.

As the memories of Jin flooded my mind, I discovered that my mother ran the supermarket downstairs. She was quirkless, which made her life harder in a society where quirks were everything. My father, on the other hand, worked at a support tech company, creating custom gear for heroes, thanks to his own quirk. We weren't rich, but my family was stable enough.

But it wasn't all easy. The original Jin was a lonely soul, with very few friends. I could feel the weight of that loneliness in his memories—the sense of being isolated in a world full of people with incredible abilities. Now that I was in his body, I felt a sense of duty—not only to survive but maybe, just maybe, to change things for the better. But in some strange way, this isolation felt safer, like a shield that protected me from the scrutiny of others. No one would notice what was truly happening inside.

For now, I pushed those thoughts aside. There were more pressing matters at hand—like figuring out the strange powers I'd inherited. I closed my eyes for a moment, took a deep breath, and focused. System.

Instantly, a transparent interface materialized before my eyes, floating in mid-air like something from a video game. It was bizarre, yet it made me feel strangely grounded in this new reality.

Name: Jin KurodaLevel: 1Occupation: Student (Junior High)

Active :

Energy Conduit(Level 1):Allows the user to absorb energy from the surrounding atmosphere.

I stared at the interface, trying to process what I was seeing. These stats—everything felt so game-like. My highest stat, Constitution, made sense in this body, though the fact that it was at its maximum while I was so overweight felt strange. It didn't add up. The Energy Conduit skill was the most intriguing. Could this be my quirk? It felt like it, but the Insight skill... that one seemed oddly familiar. It might even be something from my previous life. I couldn't be sure.

Suddenly, I heard the familiar voice of my mother calling from downstairs. "Jin, it's time for dinner!"

Her voice struck me with a wave of familiarity. I couldn't help but smile softly. I didn't have time to reflect further, so I quickly replied, "I'll be down after a quick bath."

I heard her sigh in response, but she didn't press.

I glanced at the clock—it was already 8 PM. I needed to freshen up. I quickly made my way to the bathroom, trying to adjust to the new body I now inhabited. I noticed my reflection in the mirror. I stood about 5'7", but my body was round, much like a giant teddy bear, and probably weighed close to 100 kilograms. My black hair was messy, but my striking blue eyes stood out. It was strange. My highest stat was Constitution, but I still carried all this excess weight. It didn't make sense. Was my body hiding the full potential of my quirk? Was there something more to it?

For now, I decided to put those thoughts aside. Dinner was waiting.

I headed to the dining room, where my father had just returned from work. He was tall, standing at around 6 feet, with broad shoulders that showed the physical demands of his job. His short brown hair was slightly disheveled, as if he had run his hands through it multiple times throughout the day. He wore glasses with thin black frames, and his serious expression softened when he looked at me. His tiredness was evident in the slight sag of his shoulders and the way he slumped into his chair, but despite his exhaustion, there was an air of quiet strength about him.

My mother, in contrast, was shorter, standing at about 5'5" with a gentle, rounded figure. Her long, dark hair was pulled back into a loose bun, some strands falling out of place as she moved about. She wore a faded floral apron over a simple dress, and her eyes held a warmth that could ease anyone's worries. Her smile was soft but full of affection, and there was a quiet grace in the way she moved—like the kind of presence that made you feel at home, no matter what was going on outside. Her skin was fair with a few subtle laugh lines around her eyes, evidence of the years she had spent caring for others.

I quietly sat down at the table, following the silent routine. My father glanced up and asked, "How was your day?"

"It was alright," I replied, trying to sound like the previous Jin. My mother entered with a pot of food, carefully held by mitts, and placed it on the table. She smiled at us and began to serve, her voice filling the room with its warmth.

The dinner passed in a quiet rhythm. It was mostly my mother talking—about the store, her day, things that kept her busy. My father and I listened, the usual family dynamic that didn't seem to require much change. For now, it felt like I was simply blending in. The previous Jin had been the quiet type, so no one would notice if I was different.

After dinner,I came up with an excuse. "I'm tired," I muttered, standing up and excusing myself.

"Good night," my mother called out cheerfully, and I headed back to my room.
