As I walked into Blackwell and made my way to the CEO floor, I wasn't sure what to expect. But what met me wasn't anger, confrontation, or even tension, it was indifference.
Jennifer was the only one who remained the same. Cold. Unbothered. A little nemesis, if I'm being honest. But Jasper... something about him had shifted.
He had always been extra nice to me. That's how I'd describe it. From the first time we met, he gave off this this attentiveness, that felt more than just professional. He was kind of my boss, sure, but he went out of his way to explain things thoroughly, to check in on me. Compared to how he treated Jennifer, he was definitely more lenient with me. There had always been a subtle softness in the way he dealt with me.
But today?
Today, he was different.
He was polite, professional and distant. Cold in a way that wasn't outwardly rude, but unmistakably detached. And I couldn't help but feel like he was... judging me. Like he knew what had happened yesterday.
