I walked toward the bathroom and just stayed there. I didn't have the strength to go back. I lost track of time, long enough for people to come and go, wash their hands, and fix their makeup. But eventually, I knew what I had to do.
I should've left the moment I stepped out of that dining room. Not hide. Not wait.
So, I did.
I came out and headed back toward the living room where they'd cleared out, rearranged, and transformed into a dance floor. The sound of soft music greeted me, gentle and slow. People were dancing. Most of them, actually.
And there was Sebastian. Dancing with a redhead.
She laughed at something he whispered. They were close, too close. I didn't even have the strength to wonder what they were to each other. It didn't matter.
