POV: Rai Shinsei
"Good morning everyone. I was involved in an incident earlier which is the reason why I am late, but as you all know, I have received your grades for the final exam and so, I will announce them to you all in order, starting with the lowest scoring team, to the highest scoring team." Rylie stated as she cleared her throat noisily, prompting the classroom to quiet down as many students were eager to hear their results while the others remained unbothered, which included myself.
"You were graded on a numerical scale as your grade reflects on how much you contributed to your mission. As a reminder, any team that scored below a fifty has failed."
"Coming in last is Team Jacqueline. Your team has received a fifty-six and here are your individual grades."
"Orianna Blade, 79."
"Jacqueline Ayi, 61."
"Barry Ferrow, 55."
"Felix Schneider, 48."
"Julian Crestview, 37."
"In third place is Team Levy. Your team has received a sixty-three and here are your individual grades."
"Levy Hysteria, 78."
"Ayla Lowa, 71"
"Daniel Locust, 63."
"Nathaniel Griffon, 59."
"Owen Petrov, 46."
"In second place is Team Emma. Your team has received a seventy-three and here are your individual grades."
"Emma Korisuki, 94."
"Isen Saki, 87."
"Celeste Dami, 77."
"Jason Valdez, 58."
"Grey Yokusei, 50."
"And lastly, in first place is Team Rai. Your team has received a seventy-five and here are your individual grades."
"Arthur Kojiro, 99."
"Aria Akari, 90."
"Everett Laventh, 76."
"Sarah Iyasu, 60."
"And lastly, Rai Shinsei, 50."
"For those who individually failed, consider yourself lucky as you were graded as a team, not as an individual, therefore, everyone has successfully passed their first exam." Rylie announced with a smile as most of the class began celebrating until Rylie started class soon after and in less than five minutes, I was unable to maintain my focus as I was mentally drained from boredom, inspiring me to let my mind drift away into obscurity.
Yeah, I'm certain now.
There's no way I can do this for another three years.
With a sigh, I directed my attention towards the window onto my left as I began watching a performance carried out by many cherry blossom petals, given freedom by the grace of wind as they danced throughout the air, inspiring me to try and calculate the exact numbers of petals within the air as I found myself more entertained by the natural act of nature than Rylie's tedious lecturing until I recalled the incident I was involved in before class.
It was rash acting out the way I did.
My actions nearly destroyed my image of being weak, but I was lucky that Rylie appeared in the moment that she did, which reminds me…
"Your exam report states that your Aspect is a Normal-Type that enhances your reflexes, but your last name is telling me otherwise…"
Why did she interfere back there?
Not to mention, she seems to be much more friendly than before, which doesn't make sense.
Upon hearing my last name, she's been aware of me since the beginning of my enrollment, although it's not just my Aspect that she's aware of, but also my last name, which is strange.
After my parents death, I scoured the internet for answers once I began living with Ryan as I assumed that there must have been a reason why they were killed, but to my astonishment, there was nothing.
My father's name was Ryu Shinsei while my mother's name was Evelyn Shinsei, but despite spending hours a day for an entire month—searching for anything related to my parents on the internet, there was absolutely nothing as the only source of information I got was from Ryan, who said my mother had enraged a noble family and committed treason, but I find that hard to believe as whenever I asked someone about my mother, they would act clueless.
For years, I've searched for any clues relating to the murder of my parents and yet, you're telling me a teacher from a prestigious hero academy is aware of my last name-
Abrupting my deep thought was none other than a piece of chalk, which was launched into my forehead by Rylie as the impact caused me to fall backwards out of my chair, inspiring several students to snicker as I laid on the floor in a daze until I noticed Aria stifling a giggle.
That actually hurt.
"Rai, why don't you explain the natural properties of aura? It seems to me that you already know everything about the Principle Of Aura since you have the luxury of dozing off in my class." Rylie asked wryly as amidst picking myself up from the floor, I overheard a few students mock my intelligence as I noticed Arthur, who was sleeping peacefully as he even snored, causing me to let out an irritable sigh from the blatant favoritism being shown before me.
So Arthur is allowed to have a royal slumber, but I can't even doze off for a minute?
I'll give her the answer she wants to hear and pray that she leaves me alone forever.
"Aura is the manifestation of your Aspect in the form of intangible energy." I answered as a few students were visibly surprised by my answer while Rylie's smile only grew.
"That is correct, but also incorrect." Rylie affirmed as she activated her Aspect, concealing her Aspectual Force in the midst as I sat back down, waiting for her to explain as I was curious to know how I was wrong.
Are you telling me that Ryan, the "Greatest Aspector" in the world taught me wrong?
Actually, knowing Ryan, he probably did teach me wrong as his explanations are horrendous and because he's a genius, his mind works differently than your standard Aspector.
Now thinking back on it, I'm certain that he explained it terribly as I practically had to learn Aura Manipulation on my own anyways.
"Rai, you are correct about your Aura being the manifestation of your Aspect, but you are wrong about its property." Rylie stated as her fluorescent pink aura began flowing gently around her body.
"As you all know, even the weakest Aspector has the potential to cripple or even kill the strongest human as the body of a normal human cannot endure the might of an Aspector and yet, an Aspector can effortlessly endure the might of the strongest human. Why do you think that is?" Rylie asked the class as a whole, waiting for anyone to answer as the deafening silence only grew.
"Isen, what do you believe is responsible for enhancing the durability of an Aspector's body?" Rylie asked as Isen took a moment to think before answering.
"It's your Aspect, right?" Isen answered in uncertainty.
"Although your Aspect plays a part, it's actually your own aura. There's a common misconception that your aura is intangible as many believe that your Aspect is responsible for enhancing your durability when in reality, that's not true at all as your aura is certainly tangible, regardless if it's manipulated or not. For an example…"
"Arthur, wake up and come up here." Rylie called out, awakening Arthur as he yawned amidst standing up from his desk, stretching his arms briefly before approaching Rylie as the two of them stood a few feet across from each other while most of the classroom watched them intently.
"Am I in trouble again?" Arthur asked with another yawn.
"No, I just needed assistance in teaching the class about Aura Manipulation and I thought that the perfect assistant would be none other than you!" Rylie replied with a large grin as he began loosening her tie.
"Ah, I see. What do you need me to help you with?" Arthur asked as Rylie began unbuttoning her blazer, bringing forth an unnecessary amount of gasping from many of the male students as a few of them began whispering their wildest fantasies to one another while a few of the females covered their faces and only peeked through the crevices of their fingers.
Why is everyone overreacting?
In what world would a teacher reveal their body to a bunch of teenagers?
Placing her tie and blazer onto her desk, she then pointed towards her chest with her index finger as Arthur remained silent, waiting for Rylie's instructions.
"In front of the class, you're going to try and cut me down with your sword with one swing. Do you understand?" Rylie asked as the entire classroom fell silent, her bizarre response leaving everyone bewildered.
"What?" The classroom uttered in chorus.
