Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Standing before the party was a large gray structure built into the side of a small mountain, whose front doors stood fifteen feet high at least. There was a wide stone path that led to the massive doors that looked like it was crafted by Artituum himself, and the doors looked like they were made from the strongest tree in the world, the Jack Tree. As they approached the front doors, horns started blaring. "Don't mind that, I'm kind of a big deal around here, they like to announce my returns, ha ha ha" Mario belted out laughing. Just then the large wooden doors that seemed to tower over even Mario began to creak open. All of the sudden a gust of wind and noise pollution began to sweep over the party as the bellows of the guild revealed themselves. The party is taken back in awe of the sight before them, as their eyes focus in they notice a desk front and center with two young elven women sitting behind it.

"Greetings travelers, are you all guests of Sir Reinhart?" The first elf asked.

"You could call them that, ha ha ha." Mario laughed.

"We have come to register as an adventuring party with your guild ma'am." Felix says as he hands her the letter of introduction Constance gave them.

"Ah, yes I see here, you've earned favor of Lord Constance, one of our guild's top donors. He loves sending new young adventurers to us. My name is Marybeth and this is Rose." Marybeth stated.

"Right this way everyone I'll lead you all to the register's office." Rose stated.

The party followed Rose to a window in the back. "Excuse me Lillian, can you please register this party as adventurers rank Wood please." Rose insisted.

"Wood?" Krysis questioned.

"Yes, Wood, there are fifteen ranks in our guild, and all adventurers must start with rank Wood and work their way up." Rose explained. "So I'll leave them with you." Rose said as she headed back to the front desk.

Lillian asks each member simple questions about themselves and what they do. Each member wrote down their gear, weapons, and fighting style. Felix is a thief who mostly fights with his two short swords. Krysis is an artificer of sorts who uses his homemade gadgets, chemical concoctions, and intelligence to combat enemies. Zander is a monk from the lower peaks of Mt. Hellforge who fights solely with his fists and legs. Roxie is a talented ranger who carries two small crossbows, one on each hip and a longbow across her back, with a dagger hidden in case things get dicey. Dabi is an evil bard who prefers to destroy his enemies' psyche with words and illusions rather than physical weapons, but carries a poisoned tip dagger just in case he wants to take a life. "And finally, our final question since you are registering as a party, what is your party name?" Lillian asked cheerfully.

"Well it's Wild Fang of course." Felix boasted immediately without any regard for the rest of the members.

"No." The rest of the party says in unison with little enthusiasm.

"Let's try discussing it this time." Roxie says.

"Please take your time, this is kind of a big deal, please step to the side of the window and return when you've made y'all's decision." Lillian explains.

The party takes some time to mole it over and after a few minutes of discussion, Zander raises his hands slowly. "Yes Zander, what is it?" Roxie asks.

"What do y'all think about The Kind Five." Zander said smiling.

"Sorry Zander, I don't think kind is the right word for most of us." Roxie said compassionately.

"Hmm, what about High Five?" Krysis asked.

The party all look at each other and nod. "High Five it is." They all say together.

"We would like to register our party under the name High Five." Felix says to Lillian.

"Sounds good, and just the right amount of corny." Lillian says chuckling. "Please head over to the job board and pick out a Wood ranked quest when you're ready."

The party all nod at each other and head over to the job board, to find there are only three jobs listed that a Wood ranked adventurer can take. The first job is to investigate the disappearance of a young girl from the Blue Field, the second job is to investigate a handful of goblins that have been bothering a farm outside of Wintervale, and the third quest is to explore a cave discovered in a small town outside of Mirstone. The party discusses each potential quest and decide the best current option for them is to take the Cave exploring quest. The quest states you will receive a lump sum of ten gold pieces for fully exploring the cave and clearing all the corridors, you will also receive one gold piece for each monster's head you claim, and all treasurers found are yours to keep. The quest states a development company is attempting to turn the cave into the beginning of an underground passage system that will connect most of King Lowenhold's provinces together.

The guild offers rooms on a night to night basis for the traveling adventurers within it. The party split up into three rooms for the evening, Felix and Zander, Krysis and Dabi, and Roxie in a room to herself. In the morning the party all met up in the lobby to prepare to head out.

"Good morning everyone." Zander greeted.

"Morning." Everyone replied.
