Chapter 17 - Episode 16: Second Day

Angel woke up for his second day as a student of the academy.

The morning revolved around his class unrelated to the 4 factions, thus Angel mostly listened like the study nerd he was.

As noon came, the bell for lunch break rang and all the students went ahead to their desired places in the academy.

In the corner table of the cafeteria.

"What are you doing here?", Angel asked, munching on his food.

"Why? Am I not allowed to sit here?", Latisha replied, as she places her lunch on the table.

"Nope.", Angel bluntly answered.

Latisha ignored and sat regardless.

As soon as Angel continued his lunch, another one came to the table.

"Hm?", Angel looked beside him.

"Lina?", Angel looked at Lina Fontaine standing beside him.

"Can I sit beside you?", Lina shyly asked.

Angel smirked and wiped the grime off his cheek with a napkin.

"Go ahead.", Angel made space for her.

"T-thank you.", Lina quietly sat with a faint smile.

Latisha looked at the both of them with a glare.

"Your eyes are piercing me.", Angel said.

"Commoners do get along pretty quick huh.", Latisha said mockingly.

"You again with the statuses...", Angel sighed.

"As a descendant of a noble clan, it is only right that I know my current standing in this world.", she says proudly.

"Then care to enlighten me about the nobles you so care about.", Angel said, drinking his blood juice.

"It tastes like apple despite being from a blood fruit.", Angel said to himself.

"I'm glad you asked, I'll be glad to be the one to educate you...", Latisha was interrupted by Angel.

"Don't even try it.", Angel takes a sip as he glares at her.

Latisha looked at Angel disappointed yet still continued.

The Vampire faction's clans were formed after the passing of the first Blood Lord, Cain Moriarty.

The death of the Blood Lord allowed the noble purebloods to run free without the supervision of the Moriarty family as their main powerhouse has fallen, inevitably forming the clans that forms the powers of the faction.

The Apex Council, a clan created by the three greatest families within the nation including the Moriarty family.

The Blood Imperators, the military commanding families that once served the Blood Lord.

The Shadow Syndicate, a secretive organization that was said in the rumors to have ties with the progenitor prince.

Ancient Conclave, a gathering of political purebloods that aims for the throne.

The Obsidian Guardians, the alliance of the vampire territories in the northern mountains of the kingdom.

And the Crimson Covenant, the remaining loyal families that awaits for the Blood Lord's return.

...

...

"Angel", she taps him.

"Hm...", Angel snaps back.

"The bell is ringing.", Lina said.

"Ah, oh...", Angel said as he started to pack up.

As the last bell of the day rang, Angel packed his bags and left for the last class of the day.

"I am professor John Arden, a proud researcher of the magic world in the Arcane Concordium tower of the mage faction and a professor of the Unitas Institution Academy.", John introduced.

"My class will be focusing on the subject of introducing magic and the mage society or faction.", John stated.

"His face and physique reminds me of the soldier main characters in the korean dramas.", Angel muttered to himself.

"As we move up by grade, the level of study regarding magic would also increase ranging from the basic studies to the theoretical studies established by the mages in the State of Magistry.", John said.

"Let's begin with the topic Sources of Magic.", John stated.

Angel widened his eyes at the sight of real life magic in front of him once again.

Without the use of a chalk for writing on the board, the professor's words appeared on the board in glowing blue texts.

The students read the text written on the board, showcasing the capabilities of magic.

"Magic is an inherent ability by all humans as it is a fundamental part of our reality but its existence is closely guarded from the society for fairly known reasons."

"People capable of inherent sensitivity, a stronger connection to their bloodlines, allowing them to tap into the ambient magical field more easily."

"The ambient magic field is a subtle current permeating everything, though the amount and control one has over it varies."

The words disappeared and new ones appeared.

"The limitations of one has depends on this factors: the inherent talent of certain types or attributes, the drawing from ley lines requires specific locations or location conditions, and elemental magic is bound by its nature."

"The cultural significance of magic deepens with knowledge and tradition, with older societies often having intricate structures tied to specific power sources."

"Ultimately, magic is a powerful and secret force, capable of both positive and negative purposes.", Professor John said.

"To continue, there also those who draw from external sources-", his sentence was interrupted by a student's question.

"Sir, what are ley lines?", Angel asked.

As Angel stood up, the attention went to Angel, not expecting a non-mage student to see interest in the subject.

"Hey, why did you ask that!?", Latisha asked in whisper.

"I'm curious, to learn magic.", Angel answered.

"But still...!"

"Shut up.", Angel said.

Angel returns his attention to the professor, waiting for the answer to his question.

"That's a good question, to see a non-mage student to ask puts my heart in joy.", John smiled in delight.

"The answer to that, is related to our topic in magic sources. Though sadly, I won't be able to answer it today.", John said with disappointment in his words.

"Our time is already up, I'll see you all next week.", Professor John exited the class.

"Magic... I want to learn more.", Angel said to himself with determination.
