Chapter 344: A Little Fairy in the Douluo World?
Atop Sea God Mountain, within the Sea God Temple, Bo Saixi watched through a projection as Han Li, Ye LingLing, and Qian Daoliu strolled leisurely up the steps under the guidance of Sea Dragon Douluo.
Her face was emotionless, revealing neither joy nor anger, though a sharp glint occasionally flashed in her eyes her thoughts unknown.
Before long, the four of them reached the top of the stairs.
Beyond the vast, empty plaza, the imposing Sea God Temple occupied most of the mountaintop. Unlike the Spirit Hall's intricate and radiant grandeur, the Sea God Temple exuded a majestic yet rugged aesthetic two completely different styles.
Han Li admired the distinct architecture, finding it quite charming in its own way.
"Sea Dragon, you may leave."
A commanding female voice echoed from the entrance of the temple as Bo Saixi emerged.
Sea Dragon Douluo bowed respectfully, nodded toward Han Li's group, then turned and descended the mountain.
Following the voice's direction, Han Li finally laid eyes on the legendary High Priestess of the Sea God.
She was the tallest female soul master he had ever seen almost 1.8 meters in height.
Draped in a flowing crimson robe, her long sea blue hair cascaded freely down her back, nearly reaching the ground.
Her delicate features made her appear no older than thirty, but her beauty was more than just physical it radiated nobility, elegance, and an inexplicable warmth.
In her right hand, she held a three meter long golden scepter, adorned with intricate magical engravings. At the tip, a spear like diamond shaped protrusion gleamed, and five inches below it, a golden gemstone was embedded.
To put it simply, she exuded an aura akin to a "plus version" of Bibi Dong equally stunning in appearance, yet carrying a depth of experience that didn't quite match her youthful face, drawing people in effortlessly.
Women were like fine wine the more aged, the richer the taste. No wonder both Qian Daoliu and Tang Chen had been captivated by her.
"Qian Daoliu, it's been a long time."
Her gaze briefly passed over Han Li and Ye LingLing before settling on Qian Daoliu. Her lips curved ever so slightly, as if smiling yet upon closer inspection, the expression barely changed.
A top tier master at the art of subtle seduction. Just from that small movement, Han Li mentally labeled her accordingly. Perhaps it wasn't intentional on her part, but he had already formed an impression of her, and that naturally led to a slight bias.
Qian Daoliu, however, was calmer than Han Li had anticipated. He simply nodded, his gaze clear and composed.
"It has been a long time. You haven't changed at all, Bo Saixi."
"Aren't you going to introduce them?"
After exchanging greetings, Bo Saixi finally acknowledged the two younger individuals beside him, shifting her gaze toward Han Li and Ye LingLing.
However, instead of introducing them, Qian Daoliu merely turned to Han Li, silently indicating that he should handle it himself.
This small action made Bo Saixi's grip on her scepter tighten slightly.
She had been observing them since they arrived on Sea God Island. She was already certain that the boy was the leader of the trio, but she hadn't expected Qian Daoliu to relinquish authority to him so openly from the very beginning.
"Han Li, Holy Son of Spirit Hall."
"Ye LingLing, of Spirit Hall."
"Greetings, High Priestess of the Sea God."
Exchanging a glance with Ye LingLing, Han Li kept things formal and respectful proper etiquette should not be discarded.
As long as the other party hadn't explicitly shown hostility, maintaining decorum was easy enough. If things escalated later, at least he could claim just cause after all, he wasn't some villain.
"Where did you obtain your inheritance?"
Bo Saixi nodded slightly before directing her question at Ye LingLing.
When the phenomenon on Sea God Island had occurred earlier, even she had only been able to sense the outcome, not the process.
With their spiritual link still active, Han Li signaled to Ye LingLing, prompting her to raise her hand. From the soul tool necklace at her chest, she retrieved the Heart of the Sea God.
"Senior, I obtained Lord Sea God's inheritance from this artifact, the Heart of the Sea God."
As the artifact rested in Ye LingLing's hands, it resonated with the golden trident mark on her forehead.
Inside the Sea God Temple behind Bo Saixi, the Sea God Trident its core missing let out a low hum, expressing a faint sense of joy.
"You've already passed the first trial?"
Bo Saixi's eyes widened slightly, and her grip on the scepter unconsciously tightened again.
The Sea God Trident's reaction confirmed certain things mere binding alone wouldn't have created such a connection.
"Yes. To be precise, my second and third trials are happening simultaneously. Gaining the Heart of the Sea God's recognition and drawing the Sea God Trident those are my next two trials."
Ye LingLing felt uncomfortable under Bo Saixi's gaze and instinctively leaned closer to Han Li before truthfully answering.
Bo Saixi's expression stiffened for a moment, and a strange look flickered in her eyes as she stared at Ye LingLing.
So, all the girl had to do was enter the temple, merge the two relics, and pull out the Sea God Trident completing a third of her divine trials?
This was completely different from any godly trial she had ever witnessed. She didn't even know the details of Ye LingLing's first trial or how she had completed it.
It felt almost ordained, yet she had received no divine revelation from the Sea God himself. This left her feeling extremely frustrated.
The Sea God's Nine Trials were directly tied to her own life, and as the High Priestess, she was supposed to oversee the process. But Ye LingLing had bypassed that entirely, making her feel as though her life was now at the mercy of another something she could not accept.
"Mm."
After Ye LingLing finished speaking, Bo Saixi responded with a single cold syllable before shifting her gaze to Qian Daoliu.
"I didn't expect our next meeting to be under these circumstances. I've arranged accommodations at the foot of the mountain for you stay there for now."
Qian Daoliu was about to nod when Han Li took a step forward.
"High Priestess, shouldn't we let LingLing give it a try first?"
He gestured toward the Sea God Temple behind Bo Saixi, where the resonating hum of the trident still echoed.
Bo Saixi turned slightly, casting him an indifferent glance. "I must wait for the Sea God's divine decree before proceeding with her trial."
Han Li raised an eyebrow. Ah, so that's how it is. Just as I expected.
Wait for the Sea God's response?
One day in the Divine Realm was an entire year on the continent. Even in the best case, that could take months. If something else came up on the gods' end, it could take years.
If this were a normal divine trial, waiting wouldn't be an issue. But was Han Li the patient type? Clearly not.
Moreover, Ye LingLing's golden trident mark was practically glowing on her forehead. And yet, this so called High Priestess had the audacity to say they had to wait?
Who did she think she was?
Han Li gave her a long look before pointing at the mark on Ye LingLing's forehead.
"Do you recognize this?"
Bo Saixi wasn't sure what he was getting at, but she still nodded.
"I do. It's the mark of the Sea God's Nine Trials proof of the Sea God's chosen heir."
Seeing how smoothly she answered, Han Li took the Heart of the Sea God from Ye LingLing's hands and asked again, "And this?"
Bo Saixi frowned but still replied, "The Heart of the Sea God."
"And him?" Han Li gestured to Qian Daoliu beside him.
"I recognize him."
Bo Saixi's expression darkened, and her voice lost its previous calmness. If she still didn't understand what Han Li was getting at, then her century of life had been wasted.
"So," Han Li sneered, "the Sea God's mark, the Heart of the Sea God, and a High Priestess the Sea God's mortal representative. Tell me, old woman, who gave you the courage to delay a divine trial?"
He practically pointed at her nose as he cursed.
His deal had been made directly with Poseidon. As crude as it sounded, Ye LingLing's divine trial was, at its core, a transaction.
His deal was already approved, with doors wide open. And now some glorified guard dog wanted to make things difficult?
Could Han Li tolerate this?
Absolutely not.
When he was weak, he had endured everything just to survive. But now that he was strong, now that the Divine Realm wasn't watching his every move, was he supposed to keep swallowing his pride?
Then what was the point of gaining power?
He hadn't brought Ye LingLing to Sea God Island to beg for scraps. He had come to take what was promised. There was no way he would let some insect get in his way.
To others, Bo Saixi might be the exalted High Priestess of the Sea God.
But to Han Li? She was nothing more than a doorkeeper.
Once he got what he came for, whether the doorkeeper lived or died was none of his concern. That was for the true owner of the treasury to worry about.
The High Priestess position was merely one of the rewards of the godly trials. It wasn't mandatory. Han Li had already confirmed this with Qian Daoliu.
The divine trials weren't so rigid that declining the High Priestess role would strip Ye LingLing of her rewards. At most, she might receive slightly less at the final trial.
But choosing to inherit the High Priestess role came with responsibilities. Assisting the Sea God's successor and ultimately sacrificing oneself that was part of the deal.
Bo Saixi had reaped the benefits, but now she wanted to dodge the consequences?
It didn't work that way.
If she had made things difficult during the trials, Han Li could have let it slide. But now, when everything was laid out, when the trident was right in front of them, she wanted to stall for time using some divine decree excuse?
What kind of idiotic move was this?
Divine trials followed established procedures. Qian Daoliu had never once received a divine decree from the Angel God did that mean he had prevented others from taking the trials? If he had, he wouldn't have even been able to start them himself.
The moment Ye LingLing received the trident mark, she had already outranked Bo Saixi.
Fine, they didn't get a welcoming committee when they arrived that was forgivable. The little tests along the way? Whatever, Han Li hadn't cared.
But now? They were standing right in front of the Sea God Temple, and she still wouldn't let Ye LingLing pull the trident?
That, he wouldn't tolerate.
Respect was a two way street. Since Bo Saixi clearly didn't want any, then he wouldn't give her any.
What was this? A Douluo Continent version of a helpless fairy maiden? Did she plan to run off somewhere and write a tragic essay about it later?
What's next? Some poetic nonsense about wandering among the sea trees in search of the spring breeze?
Ridiculous.
