Chapter 202: Destruction's Reaction
The Goddess of Lust was stunned. If she remembered correctly, Zhou Weiqing was the mortal name of the current God of Ruin. Ma Hongjun was claiming that the God of Ruin, Zhou Weiqing, was an undercover agent? That was completely impossible! As far as she knew, Zhou Weiqing had always been utterly loyal to the God of Destruction.
"Do you have any evidence?" the Goddess of Lust asked in a serious tone.
The God of Ruin was a First Class God and belonged to Destruction's faction. If he truly was a spy, it would pose a significant risk. An undercover agent didn't just gather intelligence they struck at critical moments to inflict the most damage.
Ma Hongjun shook his head. "I have no hard evidence. This is just my theory. Whether you believe it or not is up to you. But I once had a meal with Tang Hao, and he told me that Tang San descended to the mortal world to save someone named Zhou Weiqing. Now, this very same Zhou Weiqing has become the God of Ruin.
"I've known Tang San for many years. Given his personality, he would never descend just to save a mortal with whom he had no blood relation. So what could he possibly gain from it? If it was merely to ensure that the God of Ruin's position had a successor, that would be unnecessary.
"You should know that Destruction and Tang San have always been at odds due to their differing ideologies. So why would Tang San strengthen Destruction's faction? That would be like shooting himself in the foot."
For gods, once they passed on their divine positions, they could leave the God Realm entirely. Whether they stayed or left depended on personal choice. If the previous God of Ruin remained and the new Zhou Weiqing joined, the strength of Destruction's faction would undoubtedly grow.
In Ma Hongjun's view, there was no way Tang San would have saved Zhou Weiqing just to give away his own divine position that was absurd. Tang San had always claimed to foresee a great crisis for the God Realm. In such a scenario, there was no way he would willingly relinquish his divine power.
The Goddess of Lust's expression became thoughtful. Ma Hongjun's words planted a seed of doubt in her mind. However, suspicion alone wasn't enough she needed to report this matter to the God of Destruction and see what action he would take.
She looked at Ma Hongjun and said, "I'll be leaving now. I'll report this to our Lord. As for you, I suggest you keep your betrayal hidden from Tang San."
Ma Hongjun confidently smirked. "Don't worry. Tang San won't find out I've turned against him."
Above a pitch black castle, thick storm clouds loomed, and occasional peals of thunder roared across the sky. Deep purple lightning danced like serpentine dragons within the storm, casting an eerie violet glow over the entire fortress.
This was the residence of the God of Destruction. Most gods avoided this place entirely, as it was saturated with a heavy aura of annihilation.
For the God of Destruction, however, this was the perfect environment. He thrived in such an atmosphere, absorbing the energy of destruction to grow stronger. Aside from him, not even the Goddess of Life his own wife enjoyed staying in this place.
Seated upon his throne, the God of Destruction listened to the Goddess of Lust's report. His expression darkened considerably.
A moment ago, he had been in a relatively good mood. Now, that mood had plummeted.
Zhou Weiqing had always been quiet and hardworking in the God Realm. The God of Destruction had a high opinion of him. Compared to the constantly chattering Seven Sin Gods, Zhou Weiqing was diligent and reliable a trait the God of Destruction greatly admired.
Moreover, Zhou Weiqing had performed well in various tasks, earning Destruction's trust.
If Zhou Weiqing truly was an undercover agent, then Destruction had one less reliable subordinate.
The God of Destruction fell into deep thought before speaking. "Investigate Zhou Weiqing discreetly. See if he truly harbors ulterior motives."
The Goddess of Lust made a suggestion. "Lord, if Zhou Weiqing is indeed a spy, should we eliminate him and recall the previous God of Ruin to take his place?"
The God of Destruction waved a hand dismissively. "No need. If Zhou Weiqing is a spy, we should let him continue his work, lulling Tang San into complacency. Through him, we can also feed false information to Tang San's faction.
"My goal is to expand the God Realm, while Tang San opposes this expansion. That is the fundamental conflict between us. If Zhou Weiqing truly is an agent, then he will inevitably try to sabotage my plans at a critical moment.
"Right now, the God Realm Hub is no longer under Tang San's control. Given how reliant he is on it, he will definitely try to reclaim it. When that time comes, we'll be waiting with a surprise for him."
The Goddess of Lust smirked. "A brilliant strategy, my Lord."
The God of Destruction nodded. "For now, keep a close watch on Zhou Weiqing. If he makes any suspicious moves, report them to me immediately. But do not let him discover that we're onto him, or we won't be able to use him properly. I'll use the God Realm Hub to mask your presence."
The God Realm. Mist drifted through the air, light shimmering faintly in the surroundings.
Tang San sat cross legged on the ground, eyes closed in meditation. After a moment, he exhaled slowly and frowned. "Without the support of the God Realm Hub, my cultivation speed has slowed significantly. Relying solely on faith energy, how long will it take for my Sea God position to evolve to God King level?"
He had always believed that the Asura God's power was too bloodthirsty, capable of affecting his state of mind. Furthermore, whenever he used it, it placed a burden on both Xiao Wu and himself physically and emotionally.
Even though the Asura God position was powerful, he preferred using the Sea God's position. He only resorted to the Asura God's power when combat was unavoidable.
"Damn that Destruction. If not for his constant aggression, I wouldn't have lost control of the God Realm Hub. Ji Dong and Lie Yan are ungrateful traitors. When they first entered the God Realm, I helped them! Yet when the time came to vote, they sided with Destruction.
"And as for the Goddess of Life she turned out to be unreliable as well. She actually chose Destruction over me! I thought she was a paragon of righteousness, but clearly, she has her own selfish interests!" Tang San's expression flickered between anger and frustration.
He needed to act. He couldn't afford to sit idly by.
"The biggest challenge is reclaiming the God Realm Hub. Its power is immense. Should I just fight Destruction for it?
"No, I can't defeat him. Maybe the original Asura God could have fought him, but I haven't cultivated nearly as long. In terms of strength, I'm at a disadvantage.
"Even with the combination of my two divine positions, the Sea God's power is still only at the First Class God level."
