Chapter 208: The Shocked Du Busi

Du Busi and the Ontology Sect members swiftly fled from Mingdu. Looking down, they saw lush forests stretching below them. It wasn't that he didn't want to use the burrowing soul tool it was just that all of them had been destroyed in the battle, leaving him no choice but to fly away.

Of course, he believed that Jing Hongchen and the others wouldn't bother sending anyone to chase him. According to his intelligence, the Sun Moon Empire had no Ultimate Douluo. Without an Ultimate Douluo, his threat of self destruction still held immense deterrent power.

Even if the Sun Moon Empire did decide to send people after him, as long as he survived, their young talents and nobles would face a grave threat. Not everyone could withstand an assassination attempt from a Rank 98 Super Douluo.

To some, targeting younger or weaker enemies might seem dishonorable, but the Ontology Sect always prioritized its interests over reputation. Their name had never been particularly good to begin with.

Even though they had once fought alongside Shrek Academy against a beast tide, everyone knew how that tide had come about because the Ontology Sect had once stormed the Star Dou Great Forest, killing seven ten thousand year soul beasts in one go, enraging Di Tian and triggering the attack.

Compared to the evil soul masters, the Ontology Sect was seen as the lesser evil, but due to their past actions, many people regarded them as a force that teetered between righteousness and darkness.

Suddenly, a spatial rift appeared in front of Du Busi. A figure wearing a black robe, with a flying soul tool on his back and a mask covering his face, stepped out of the rift.

Du Busi's expression immediately darkened. Instinctively, he activated his Martial Soul True Body. With a sharp howl, his entire body transformed into a towering hundred meter tall dark green giant, shielding the Ontology Sect members behind him.

"Who are you? Why are you blocking our way?"

His sense of alarm surged to its peak. Even when he had been surrounded by Jing Hongchen and the Sun Moon Empire forces, he hadn't felt this much pressure.

The person in front of him had an unbelievably refined mastery of spatial power. Moreover, appearing here at this exact moment could only mean one thing this was no coincidence.

Had this person come from the Sun Moon Empire? That was ridiculous. The Sun Moon Empire was full of soul engineers who relied on drugs how could they possibly have nurtured such a powerhouse?

Those who could fully command space itself could attack and retreat at will.

There were a few such figures on the Douluo Continent. The best example was the Beast God, Di Tian. Du Busi recalled that during the beast tide attack on Shrek City, Di Tian's mastery of space had made him nearly impossible to hit.

After all, not only was he difficult to land a blow on, but he could also tear through space and appear right next to his target in an instant. How could anyone fight that?

"Du Busi, I came to find you," Huo Yuhao said.

Initially, he had been flying toward Mingde Hall, using the trip to communicate with the Plane's Will. Since piloting a flying soul tool didn't take much effort, he could multitask. Soon enough, the Plane's Will had located Du Busi and the Ontology Sect members.

However, since Mingdu was densely populated, he had waited until they had left the city before using spatial travel to appear before them, ensuring there were no unwanted witnesses.

"You came to find me? For what purpose?" Du Busi demanded, his body tense and ready for combat.

Huo Yuhao replied, "Sect Master Du, I wish to establish a partnership with the Ontology Sect."

If he wanted to control the Ontology Sect in the future, cooperation was the best way to begin. Using brute force wasn't an option if the Plane's Will stepped in and forcibly subdued them, it would give Tang San a perfect excuse to send down his divine will, claiming he was investigating a new power.

Moreover, members of the Ontology Sect, with their Body Martial Souls, were naturally suited for using soul tools.

But because of the sect's long standing prejudice against them, they had never seriously developed this potential. In the original story, Du Busi had only realized much later that the future belonged to soul technology.

Hearing the word "cooperation," Du Busi instinctively furrowed his brows.

It reminded him of his "cooperation" with Xu Jiawei an indisputable disaster.

Trusting Xu Jiawei's intelligence had led him to launch a full scale raid on Mingde Hall, only to gain absolutely nothing.

His subordinates had suffered casualties, and even worse, by burning his life force in battle, he had cut his own lifespan down to just ten years. Everything about the mission had been a complete mistake.

"I have no interest in working with you," Du Busi said bluntly. "Step aside. If you insist on blocking my path, we may become enemies." His tone had grown noticeably colder.

All he wanted was to leave the Sun Moon Empire he had no desire to entangle himself with this masked figure.

"Du Busi, do not speak so rudely. Show some respect to Senior Xiao."

A hoarse, aged voice suddenly rang out.

Du Busi froze.

That voice… sounded familiar.

A moment later, from behind Huo Yuhao, a half transparent yet partially solidified figure emerged a man with long, dark green hair.

Du Busi's eyes widened in shock. "Big Brother?! But… you… you're dead!"

"Du Busi, I did die, but I have returned in spirit form," Du Busi said, his expression complicated as he gazed at his younger brother. He still remembered entrusting the Ontology Sect to him before his death.

Du Busi stood in stunned silence.

His mind raced.

Had this masked man resurrected his brother?

But that would make him an evil soul master!

No… something was off. Evil soul masters refined spirits into vengeful ghosts, robbing them of all intelligence. Yet here was Du Busi, completely lucid.

Du Busi had encountered evil soul masters before he knew the difference.

Behind him, the Ontology Sect members erupted in whispers. Those present were all high ranking members, many of them older and familiar with Du Busi.

"Isn't that the old Sect Master? But… he was supposed to have died fighting Mu En!"

"Could the old Sect Master have been resurrected? But… in all of history, only Ning Rongrong and Oscar were able to revive Tang San. I remember reading in Legends of Shrek that the despicable twin gods of the Spirit Hall ambushed Tang San, nearly killing him, but the righteous Ning Rongrong and Oscar brought him back…"
