Chapter 275: Ye Xiaosheng's Final Words
Yan Shaozhe's face was filled with grief as he grasped Ye Xiaosheng's trembling hand. From the corner of his eye, he saw the other half of Ye Xiaosheng's body hanging from a tree, blood still dripping onto the ground.
He took a deep breath and spoke softly:
"Xiaosheng, your lower half is stuck in the tree. It's normal for it to hurt. I'm not a Support or Food type Soul Master, so there's nothing I can do to save you. If you have any final words, say them now, and I promise to pass them on to whoever you want."
Ye Xiaosheng struggled to open his mouth, blood oozing from between his lips.
"Dean Yan… tell Dean Qian… I'm sorry. I learned advanced soul tool technology at the Sun Moon Academy, and I should have brought it back to strengthen our department. But now… I can't do that anymore..."
"Cough, cough, cough…"
His body convulsed violently, a large amount of blood and shattered internal organs spewing from his mouth. His already pale face lost even more color.
Even so, he forced himself to keep looking at Yan Shaozhe.
"Dean Qian… was always good to me. Back in the Outer Court, because my martial soul was weak, I wasn't chosen as a core disciple, and I felt hopeless… like my future was ruined.
But Dean Qian… he didn't abandon me. He believed I had the talent to become a great Soul Engineer. He personally recruited me into the Soul Tool Department, allowing me to enter the Inner Court and eventually reach the rank of Level 6 Soul Engineer…"
"Dean Yan… in my storage soul tool, I have rare metals I bought in the Sun Moon Empire and soul tools I personally crafted. Please… give them to Dean Qian."
With the last of his strength, he lifted his right hand.
On his wrist was a green bracelet, engraved with the word "Ye" his storage soul tool.
Yan Shaozhe's eyes turned red as he clutched Ye Xiaosheng's hand, his voice choking with emotion.
"Xiaosheng… I promise. I'll make sure your final wishes are fulfilled."
"That's good… that's… good..."
Ye Xiaosheng forced out a smile one that looked more painful than crying.
Then, his eyes lost their light.
The hand he had lifted so desperately suddenly lost all its strength and fell heavily to the ground.
Yan Shaozhe grabbed his hand before it could hit the earth, but tears were already rolling down his face.
"Xiaosheng!!!"
Not far away, Xian Lin'er had already noticed the heavy casualties among the Shrek exchange students.
With a furious roar, she launched a devastating strike, forcing Scorpion Tiger Douluo Zhang Peng back.
Her mind was spiraling she was the Dean of the Soul Tool Department, and for years, her department had always been overshadowed by the Martial Soul Department.
Training talented Soul Engineers was extremely difficult.
And yet all eight Inner Court students who joined the exchange program had died today.
"Damn you, Evil Soul Masters! Today, you die!"
Her eyes turned blood red, and with an explosive surge of blue energy, she charged straight at Ten Thousand Souls Douluo.
Ten Thousand Souls Douluo panicked.
Earlier, he had self destructed many of the powerful spirits in his banner, greatly weakening himself.
His entire strength depended on the spirits within the Ten Thousand Souls Banner.
Even though he had a Rank 9 defensive soul tool, he knew he wasn't strong enough to resist Xian Lin'er's full wrath.
He immediately screamed:
"Zhang Peng, help me!!!"
Zhang Peng's face hardened.
He rushed forward, determined to stop Xian Lin'er.
A Titled Douluo level Evil Soul Master was not easy to replace. If Ten Thousand Souls Douluo died here, it would be a huge loss for the Holy Spirit Church.
BOOM!
Xian Lin'er's spear pierced forward.
Ten Thousand Souls Douluo's automatic Rank 9 barrier immediately activated, forming a golden protective shield.
But the blue flames engulfing her spear began melting through the shield, filling the air with a deafening shriek.
"Ten Thousand Souls!!!"
Hatred Douluo suddenly launched an attack on Xian Lin'er.
A wave of green energy surged toward her his Eighth Soul Skill: Devour the Heavens and Earth.
This skill drained all life energy from anything within its radius.
Xian Lin'er's soul barrier activated, but the toxic green aura rapidly corroded it, causing visible cracks to appear.
She didn't care.
She only had one goal kill Ten Thousand Souls Douluo and avenge the fallen students.
"Damn it! Damn it!!!"
Ten Thousand Souls Douluo's expression turned grim.
His soul power was draining too fast.
Even though Rank 9 defensive soul tools were strong, they required massive amounts of energy to maintain.
And right now he was running out of soul power.
"There's only one choice left."
His eyes flashed with cruelty.
"I have to kill the last exchange student to distract Xian Lin'er!"
Taking a deep breath, he shook his Ten Thousand Souls Banner once more.
An ocean of spirits materialized, all rushing toward Bei Bei.
Although most spirits were only Soul Elder or Soul King level, a few reached Soul Douluo level.
Even though Ten Thousand Souls Douluo had once targeted a hundred thousand year old Siren, he never had a chance to capture it.
"Not good!"
Xian Lin'er's expression changed.
She hurled a blast of blue flames, destroying some of the spirits.
But many more bypassed her and swarmed toward Bei Bei.
Zhang Peng noticed the strategy and immediately adjusted his position.
He raced forward, preparing to personally eliminate Bei Bei.
Seeing this, Yan Shaozhe's rage exploded.
"Zhang Peng! The Shrek exchange students are already dead!"
"Only one remains Bei Bei. He is Elder Mu's great grandson!"
"Even he isn't safe from you?!"
"What?!"
Zhang Peng froze, staring at Bei Bei in shock.
Was this really Elder Mu's direct descendant?
He had always thought Yan Shaozhe was a hypocrite, but this wasn't something he would lie about.
His gaze shifted.
The spirits were closing in on Bei Bei.
Zhang Peng clenched his jaw.
Then he made his decision.
With a wave of his hand, a black aura surged outward, instantly obliterating half of the spirits.
Yan Shaozhe immediately seized the chance he summoned phoenix flames, burning the remaining spirits to ashes.
Ten Thousand Souls Douluo spat out blood.
His face turned deathly pale, and his expression became one of utter disbelief.
"Zhang Peng!!!"
"What did you just do?! Without those spirits, how am I supposed to kill the Shrek students?!"
"Are you betraying us?!"
Zhang Peng was silent for a moment.
Then he spoke:
"I am not betraying anyone."
"But this boy… must not die."
"We've completed our mission."
"Let's go."
