Chapter 289: Martial Soul Fusion Skill with Qiu'er
As Di Qiu'er worried about her future, the sound of footsteps echoed behind her. She instinctively turned around and saw that the owner of those footsteps was Huo Yuhao.
"Junior Qiu'er, I need your help with something," Huo Yuhao approached with a smile.
"You need my help?" Di Qiu'er was momentarily stunned, somewhat puzzled. What could Huo Yuhao possibly need her help with? His status at the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy was well established practically anything he requested, the headmaster would approve.
Huo Yuhao patiently explained, "I want to see if we can use a martial soul fusion skill. Last night, I used my Eye of Destiny to peer into my own fate, and I received a very vague revelation. The message was simple someone I already know is capable of performing a martial soul fusion skill with me.
"But based on the nature of martial soul fusion skills, the martial souls of both individuals must be of similar quality; otherwise, they won't be compatible. That's why I immediately thought of you."
According to the original story, Qiu'er and Huo Yuhao were supposed to be compatible for a martial soul fusion skill, so he naturally wanted to test it out. Developing such a skill would make him even stronger. Besides, if Huo Yuhao and Wang Dong had "HaoDong's Power," then it made perfect sense for him and Qiu'er to have "HaoQiu's Power."
As for Tang Princess, Huo Yuhao wouldn't dare attempt a martial soul fusion skill with her that would immediately alert Tang San and bring unnecessary trouble. But with Qiu'er, there was no such concern.
After all, in the original story, Qiu'er had her fate entirely manipulated by Tang San, to the point where even her existence was ultimately erased by him. The root cause was that Tang San had implanted a fragment of his daughter's divine consciousness into Qiu'er's mind. But in this timeline, Qiu'er had not been tainted by Tang Princess' consciousness she was still the Three Eyed Golden Lion who had lived for years in the Great Star Dou Forest.
Di Qiu'er looked at Huo Yuhao skeptically. She didn't believe they would really have a martial soul fusion skill the odds were simply too low.
Still, she extended her hand. "Senior Yuhao, you can test it if you'd like."
Huo Yuhao grasped her small, soft, pale hand, and the sensation of warmth spread from his palm to his mind.
He channeled his soul power into Di Qiu'er, and almost immediately, she froze in surprise. She stared at Huo Yuhao in shock. "I… I can feel it. Our soul power is merging? How is this possible?"
The moment she finished speaking, a dazzling golden light erupted from both of their bodies.
Huo Yuhao smiled. "Looks like I got lucky the first attempt was a success. Junior Qiu'er, since our soul power can fuse, it means our martial souls likely can as well."
Not only did their soul power merge, but even their spiritual energy fused. Huo Yuhao could feel that the moment he held Di Qiu'er's hand, their spiritual connection was established first. The sense of closeness made it feel as if they were one.
Gradually, golden dragon scales began appearing on Huo Yuhao's body. He could sense that he and Di Qiu'er's martial souls had reached a 100% compatibility rate.
In the world of Douluo, a 50% compatibility rate was already enough to attempt a martial soul fusion skill. A 100% rate meant they could achieve perfect fusion, unleashing the full potential of the skill.
Huo Yuhao speculated that their perfect compatibility was due to Di Qiu'er being a divine beast of destiny, while he himself was essentially the Child of Destiny of the Douluo Star. From a fate based perspective, their martial souls were naturally compatible.
Tang Wutong, on the other hand, had spent years in the Divine Realm before descending to the mortal world at Tang San's arrangement. Her connection to Douluo Star was minimal. The idea that she "snuck down" on her own was absurd Tang San was a God King; how could he possibly not notice his own daughter leaving?
It was far more likely that Tang San had orchestrated her descent and left behind some kind of failsafe, which would explain why she had an improbable 100% fusion rate with the original Huo Yuhao. Otherwise, how could someone with two martial souls have four different fusion skills with him? That was simply ridiculous.
"You're right. I can feel it we really can perform a martial soul fusion skill," Di Qiu'er said excitedly. "I wonder what kind of skill it will be?"
"Senior Yuhao, let's test it now!"
"Alright," Huo Yuhao nodded, not rejecting the idea.
In the next moment, golden light surged around them, and a resounding dragon's roar echoed through the air. Although Huo Yuhao's Eye of Destiny was normally golden, at this moment, his irises turned completely ice blue, exuding an aura of extreme frost.
Their martial soul fusion skill utilized three martial souls Huo Yuhao's Spirit Eyes and Ice Jade Empress Scorpion, along with Di Qiu'er's Golden Dragon.
Di Qiu'er's golden eyes reflected Huo Yuhao's figure, and without hesitation, she threw herself into his embrace. Almost instantly, she dissolved into streams of golden energy, wrapping around Huo Yuhao's body.
Another dragon's roar reverberated through the skies.
The golden energy coalesced, twisting and converging before forming armor piece by piece over Huo Yuhao's body.
Within moments, Huo Yuhao was clad in a magnificent golden suit of armor adorned with ice like patterns. He extended his hand, fingers curling slightly, and the Golden Dragon Spear manifested in his grasp.
"So this is our martial soul fusion skill Dragon's Roar of Destiny. With it, I can even wield the Golden Dragon Spear directly."
Thoughts raced through his mind.
Just then, an irritated voice echoed in the sky. "I want to see which soul engineer is causing a scene outside the laboratory, filling the entire area with blinding golden light! Many soul engineers have complained about it being an eyesore. No matter who's responsible, I will punish them accordingly!"
A scowling Jing Hongchen appeared in midair, scanning the area.
Beside him, Director Lin Jiayi of the Disciplinary Department chimed in angrily, "Hall Master, I fully support your decision! This is infuriating! I was just about to take a nap, but this damn golden light ruined my sleep! I want to punish the culprit myself!"
Jing Hongchen's gaze roamed the area before settling on the source of the glow.
"Yuhao? You're the one who caused this golden light?" he asked, slightly surprised.
"Yes," Huo Yuhao nodded, not bothering to deny it.
"I see," Jing Hongchen's expression immediately softened. "In that case, let's have the nearby soul engineers relocate. We can't have them disturbing you."
