Chapter 12 - Chapter 12 - Travel Part 2

Taking Leo's hand to help her step out of the carriage, she looked at Loren who was practically bouncing up and down at the idea of forming spells.

'This guy sure changes his mood a lot. One minute ago, me suggesting he form some is absurd but now he's excited.' She thought to herself.

Katrina observed as he spent a couple minutes just feeling out his magical energy before a wall made of solid metal rose from the ground. It was pure silver, and strong. The princess stepped forward to try and test it. After several water burst spells, the only damage that was inflicted was minor dents which he could repair in seconds.

Right then, she noticed a flaw with her elements, they weren't exactly hard hitters. At least now. They relied more on trapping and weakening, with her water element being the only thing which might be able to damage any moderately strong barriers. She toyed with the concept of creating roots behind the person protected by the barrier, but without any eye sight on them, it seemed impossible to create any spells.

Katrina got an idea from it. A spell which allowed her to peer at others using the nature around her as a medium. For a moment, she stood there with her eyes closed separating the elements within her and enforced her will on the nature around her. For a split second, she could see his back from the blades of grass before she returned back to her body.

A stabbing pain erupted from her chest, as she began heaving up blood.

[Spell Created: Second Life

Description: A ghastly form of plant magic to transfer one's life force into the nature around them. It has the potential to grant someone a new chance at living as a type of flora the caster wishes.

Spell Grade: A

Spell Uniqueness: S]

"Princess, are you alright?" Leo yelled, rushing forward and helping her up from the ground.

"I'm fine, just going to rest for a moment. Loren craft at least five spells." With that order, she went back to her carriage. Her face was ghostly white as she had realised what she had nearly done.

Instead of creating a spell to glance through the flora around her, she had nearly cursed herself to live as a blade of grass for the rest of her life. Peering inside her inner world, she saw that it was thriving in plant magic. It had saved her. By holding back an obscene amount of her magic, the spell had failed and now her inner world was paying the price. She could feel it almost boiling, at least that's how it had felt. Immense waves of pain flashed through her as she fought to concentrate.

By smothering her will over the flora magic, she did what she thought was best, she used it to erupt a tree. The light green energy swirled as it formed roots, bark and finally leaves. It took her hours of focus, before every bit of volatile flora energy became a construct. Thankfully, her inner world was strong enough to contain the extra construct.

[Mage level: Trainee

Hallowed: World Tree

Cultivated Affinities: All]

[Hallowed - A sacred construct vital to the survival of an inner world, a source of great power. Can only be created when a catastrophe emerges within the inner world in which both the mage and its world work together to survive. Only those with extremely strong inner world and soul, combined with a deadly mistake can manage to birth one.]

[Hallowed: World Tree

Description: A sacred construct made with dense flora energy that will continue to steadily grow using sparse amounts of magic].

Katrina had heard of a hallowed construct before, the king of one of the strongest kingdoms openly wielded one. They bore devastating strength and heightened growth of the inner world, there used to be a practice of forcing mages to damage their inner world's in an effort to create one. Although, there were no recorded successes out of the thousands of mages who died in the process.

The silver-haired girl had expected that her soul was abnormally strong, most likely due to her reincarnation yet this only solidified her belief. She had tricked herself that she was a genius for how quickly she had grasped everything but it was only due to her brute forcing her way through.

Katrina had been fooling with magic, acting like the consequences for any mistakes would never touch her. And yet she had nearly been killed, or become grass. She spent several more hours, concentrating on making sure her world was safe. Using a combination of all her elements, to check to see if there were any damage, and she found it. A small crack on her inner world.

It was so small that you couldn't see it with just your eyes. But it was there. No matter how much energy she pushed into it, it would not repair. Then she felt it, like a call from the world tree begging to let it help. Knowing that hallowed constructs were renown for strengthening inner world's she let it.

It's leaves glowed a bright green before sweeping her entire inner world, slowly the crack began to mend. But even after the construct had used all its impressive energy, it was still there. Just smaller.
