Chapter 14 - No one is a fool

After absorbing his first spirit ring, Xu Yang noticed that the transformation of his Solar Soul Power had reached 10%, which began to affect his body.

The intense and aggressive nature of the Solar Soul Power was starting to impact him, prompting his urgent desire to absorb Eastern Purple Qi to see if it could solve this problem. Otherwise, he would have to slow down the conversion of Solar Soul Power to avoid further issues.

Now, after absorbing Eastern Purple Qi, his newly formed soul power exhibited a hint of vitality, significantly reducing the feelings of heat and burning within him, making it more bearable. This gave him hope that he could continue his soul power cultivation without interruption.

"Now I just need to persist daily!"

Soon, his soul power completely recovered, bringing him joy. He planned to eat breakfast first and then return to continue his training, not wanting to miss the gentle phase of solar energy in the morning. At noon, when the sun was high in the sky, its energy would be too intense and violent for him at this stage.

However, as soon as he opened his eyes, he noticed Ning Fengzhi and Chen Xin on the opposite rooftop. A surge of alarm hit him; his unusual actions had caught the attention of both his teacher and the Sword Douluo. He didn't believe that people in this world were as naive as portrayed in stories—this was reality, and human intentions were unpredictable.

Ning Fengzhi was not a simple person either; in the original text, Tang Hao had commented on Ning Fengzhi's great talent and complexity. For a Titled Douluo to regard a Soul Saint stuck at level 79 with such praise indicated that it wasn't merely about strength—there was a possibility that it stemmed from Ning Fengzhi's wisdom and understanding of human nature and interests, which made Tang Hao wary.

This led many to label Ning Fengzhi as a "smiling tiger," someone they didn't particularly like.

However, Xu Yang felt admiration for such a person; those in high positions often had depths that were hard to fathom.

At this moment, though, Xu Yang was feeling somewhat anxious because some of his actions lacked logic. While he could explain the whale resin by saying he learned about medicinal herbs, how would he explain Eastern Purple Qi?!

"It looks like I'll have to attribute it to my martial spirit!" Xu Yang quickly organized his thoughts in his mind and stood up. He greeted the two in front of him: "Disciple Xu Yang pays respects to Teacher and Elder Sword. May I ask what brings you here so early?"

"Why can't a teacher see their disciple?" Ning Fengzhi's words made Xu Yang's heart race. Just as he was about to explain himself, Ning Fengzhi continued: "Come! Let's have breakfast together and talk about what you were doing earlier and what that purple light was!"

"Sure!"

Hearing he had a chance to explain relieved Xu Yang as he followed behind Ning Fengzhi toward the back mountain.

Chen Xin nodded at Ning Fengzhi before disappearing in a flash.

Before long, they arrived at Ning Fengzhi's residence where Madam Ning had already prepared breakfast and was waiting at the dining table.

"Sit!"

Ning Fengzhi gestured for them to take their seats before settling into the main chair. Xu Yang glanced around and chose to sit beside him. As soon as he sat down, Ning Fengzhi asked with curiosity: "Yang'er, what were you doing so early this morning using your soul skill?!"

"I sensed a strong attraction from the purple light at sunrise after awakening my martial spirit. I wanted to see if I could absorb it but couldn't find a way until yesterday when I obtained my first spirit ring. I felt confident this morning, so I came out to give it a try," Xu Yang explained sincerely with a serious tone, showing no signs of panic on his face. However, inside he felt anxious—if Ning Fengzhi discovered he was lying, it could be disastrous for him.

As it turned out, Xu Yang worried unnecessarily; being just a six-year-old child made Ning Fengzhi subconsciously believe that this earnest child before him wasn't lying and trusted him completely.

"Your martial spirit? It is indeed special; there has never been one like it throughout Douluo Continent's history. It's normal for it to be connected with the sun!"

Ning Fengzhi clearly believed Xu Yang's explanation and fell into thought. He found Xu Yang's reasoning quite logical since there were no records of such a martial spirit in their Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School—it made sense for it to possess some extraordinary characteristics.

"It seems I can't engage in illogical actions anymore; this time I can attribute it all to my martial spirit. Next time if I pull something out unrelated to my martial spirit, what can I say then? I also can't directly mention knowledge about celestial herbs; not everyone in Douluo World is foolish. Tang San's use of Tang Sect techniques without suspicion is only due to his protagonist aura."

Seeing that Ning Fengzhi believed him eased Xu Yang's mind while also reminding himself not to blindly reveal illogical or unrelated things again. If he needed something from others, he should ensure there's corresponding knowledge or theory that would make them believe it.

For instance, regarding those celestial herbs he had been thinking about—he needed to obtain information from people like Dugu Bo or Tang San first; otherwise if he revealed them directly without explanation, Ning Fengzhi and others might question him deeply. After all, even Dugu Bo spent nearly half his life researching those celestial herbs within Icefire Yin-Yang Eyes without fully understanding them.

After all, he was now a disciple of Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School; even if contributing for the sect's benefit required sharing information about celestial herbs, there must be credible sources behind it.

"This is troublesome!"

Xu Yang sighed inwardly; this meant he would have to replan his approach—not just focus on Dugu Yan and Dugu Bo but also consider strategies involving the Dugu family itself.

However, dealing with the four major single-attribute families wouldn't be easy—especially with the Dugu family known for their extreme offensive capabilities. Their inherited martial spirits could even ignore some soul power effects; currently led by Yang Wudi who possessed combat strength capable of matching Titled Douluos—it would be quite challenging.

The strength of Titled Douluos wasn't something easily attained; there were probably only about fifty Titled Douluos across Douluo Continent today—a conservative estimate at best—indicating their status held not just prestige but also immense power.

If Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School recklessly engaged with Dugu family members, Ning Fengzhi would certainly refuse because such actions wouldn't align with how Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School had always presented itself on the continent—it could lead them into serious trouble or even disaster.

However sending Dugu Bo might not guarantee success against Yang Wudi either.

While contemplating these matters during breakfast with Ning Fengzhi and his wife, Xu Yang finished eating before taking his leave.

"Yang'er! From now on you should eat meals together with me and your mother!"

"Okay!"
