"These days have been hard on you." Beitang Huan was also grateful to Xiao Fen and Sister Chen for helping take care of Xia Qingqian.
Knock, knock, knock—
Three rhythmic knocks sounded at the door. Sister Chen quickly put down her chopsticks and said, "I'll go open the door and see who it is."
Sister Chen opened the door and saw a young man carrying a chicken coop. Inside, an old hen clucked softly, and by his feet sat a vegetable basket filled to the brim with fresh greens.
"Ah Jin, what brings you here?" Sister Chen looked at the young man Ah Jin and asked.
Ah Jin nodded to Sister Chen in greeting, then handed her the chicken coop in his hand. "Sister Chen, I came to see Miss Xia. I heard she woke up, and my father asked me to bring an old hen over so Miss Xia can build up her strength."
Sister Chen quickly took the coop from Ah Jin and smiled. "Thank you so much!" Right now what Miss Xia needed most was a stewing hen to nourish her body.
