Chapter 13 - Chapter 17 Saving Someone (1)

The other team members had already retreated with the disaster-stricken citizens, leaving the three of them as the final group.

Lin Junyang heard Mu Xingfeng's order and instead of following, he sat heavily on the ground.

"Oh my gosh, I'm exhausted, Boss. Can we rest for ten minutes?"

Mu Xingfeng glanced at him, his face expressionless, and said, "Suit yourself, but I've heard there's going to be a heavy rain soon."

With that, he strode forward.

"Hey, hey, hey, Boss, wait for me! I think I'm full of energy again, no need for a rest!"

Lin Junyang scrambled to his feet, ignoring his appearance, shouting as he chased after them, causing Liu Hu to laugh heartily.

Lin Junyang discontentedly gave Liu Hu a knock on the head, "You little rascal, what's so funny? Laugh again and I'll make you do 200 one-arm push-ups."

Liu Hu immediately stopped laughing, but the suppressed look of amusement on his face was extremely painful.

At this moment, a faint cry for help came, and looking towards the sound, they saw a woman clutching a branch in the middle of the flowing water, calling out to them.

"Prepare for rescue, Liu Hu, you're coming into the water with me. Lin Junyang, you'll handle the support on the shore."

As Mu Xingfeng spoke, he took out a rope, tied one end around his waist, and gave orders.

"That's not right, Boss. You haven't rested for two days and nights. Let me go instead, you handle the support on the shore."

As he spoke, Lin Junyang tried to grab the rope from Mu Xingfeng.

For the past two days, Mu Xingfeng had been leading the rescue efforts tirelessly. While the rest of the team had chances to rest in shifts, he hadn't closed his eyes for two days and nights. No matter how strong he was, he couldn't withstand such physical exhaustion.

Hearing Lin Junyang's words, Mu Xingfeng's face turned cold, "That's an order. Besides, are you sure your injured foot can handle this fast-moving water? Stay put on the shore."

Lin Junyang shrank his neck at Mu Xingfeng's reprimand. He thought to himself that his foot injury was almost healed, but he didn't dare to retort. He feared nothing and no one, except Mu Xingfeng. His grandpa had specifically sent him to follow Mu Xingfeng, knowing it was only under Mu Xingfeng's command that he wouldn't become a troublemaker.

After Mu Xingfeng and Liu Hu prepared, they entered the water and slowly moved towards the tree.

This section of the river narrowed on both sides, making the current even more turbulent. The woman must have been swept away by a flood, but had miraculously gotten stuck on the tree.

The woman clinging to the tree was in her forties. She held onto the tree tightly and her eyes brightened when she saw Mu Xingfeng and Liu Hu approaching.

"I'm here, please come save me."

Once Mu Xingfeng and Liu Hu reached the tree, they realized the woman wasn't far from the water's surface. If she jumped, they could easily help her to the shore even if she couldn't swim.

Mu Xingfeng instructed Liu Hu and then shouted up, "You can jump down now."

"Jump?" The woman hesitated and didn't jump, "Aren't you supposed to come up here to save me? I can't swim, jumping down would be suicide."

"Don't worry, ma'am. With us here, you won't drown." Mu Xingfeng patiently explained.

But the woman shook her head stubbornly, "I don't believe you, I won't jump. What if you can't catch me?"

Liu Hu also shouted, "Ma'am, don't worry. Our captain is a great swimmer. We guarantee you won't drown."

No matter what they said, the woman refused to jump. After a few minutes of stalemate, Mu Xingfeng simply tugged on the rope and climbed up the tree.
