Chapter 26 - Battle at Baker’s Street 8

As they left Aries' temple, Izuku was reminded of how they got out of the tower. At first, they thought they could use the elevator to go down, but then they realized it was stuck in the Spider Butterfly Creature's webs. Then they thought they would have to go down the stairs, which wasn't particularly appealing given the 995 flights of stairs, with floors in between that could have possible enemy combatants on each one. They would be much more tired than after they fought the boss.

Using the elevator, they got in contact with Aries and asked if there was any other way down. Aries responded negatively, as they were beginning to realize it could be weeks before they were able to leave the tower (remember, they don't know time is different outside of the mindscape).

Luckily for them, just as they began to discuss their strategy for getting down the tower, Bob yelled above the arguing group, 'Hey! Friends, there is a easy way out!' He then proceeded to punch a hole in the wall. They had been so focused on the video game-like environment of the tower that they had never even considered the fact that they could probably just destroy a wall and have Aries come and pick them up. Izuku felt very dumb then and felt even dumber now.

Contacting Aries with the elevator, he was able to fly up and latch onto the side of the tower while the group entered his chest compartment. After that, he flew back down to the temple, and the group left, there now everyone has caught up on what has happened.

The group slowly and warily walked up to the front door of the British-style mansion. The door had three keyholes, and after Nana touched the door handle, one of the keyholes disappeared. They clearly needed two more keys, and the only place left to find them was the hedge maze.

Walking up to the front gate of the hedge maze, the group noticed two wisps. These wisps looked like normal humans at first, but as their eyes dropped lower, they noticed their goat-like legs. Bob slowly lumbered over to them. 'Hi Benny, hi Jim!' Bob shouted. 'Can I please enter Little Aster's Maze?' The two wisps gave Bob a friendly smile and nodded, and the group hurriedly made their way inside as Bob made small talk with the two guards, still unaware that the guards couldn't see his companions.

Walking inside the maze, the group bore witness to a child's dream. For a child who spent his whole life in darkness and captivity, this place was a weird and strange mixture of the two. The hedge maze was a beautiful garden. There was no roof, so the sun could always shine, but the walls were tall, preventing anyone from seeing over the sides. The floor was carpeted with extremely soft grass and flowers, but if you ripped some grass out of the ground, underneath was hardened stone. Every once in a while, you would stumble upon a small pond with bright blue water. You could see small fish swimming in it, but if you put your head in the water and looked closely, those fish weren't actually small—they were sea monsters, far away enough that the water created an optical illusion, making them look like small fish. Every wisp they met had smiles of happiness but the body of a monster: gorgons, Arachne, centaurs, sirens, nymphs, goblins, orcs, and the one species that was probably the most telling—a Minotaur.

After wandering for a decent amount of time and Bob asking for directions every once in a while, the group found their way to another Greek-style temple. Outside the temple stood three young ladies, all with different shades of purple hair. Two of them were identical in both stature and appearance; they even wore the same clothing. The third girl was a little shorter, wearing a purplish-black hoodie and, for some strange reason, a red dog collar around her neck. The three girls stared for a while. Just like with Bob and Aries, they were clearly alters that preferred to stay in the mindscape rather than exist in reality with the rest of them.

Bob gave the girls in front of him a big, happy smile. The two identical girls gave him a snobby look, but the shorter girl smiled, a genuine smile, happy to see Bob. 'Hi, Miss Stheno! Miss Euryale!' Then he looked directly at the smallest girl. 'Hi, Medusa!'

The smallest girl, Medusa, smiled back at Bob and, in a gentle and quiet voice, responded, 'Hi, Bob.' The two other sisters snorted in an almost indignant manner, as if it were appalling to even be interacting with Bob. The group behind Bob had the unfortunate feeling that the two identical girls thought of them the same way.

"So, Bob, what brings you to our temple?" Medusa asked in a shy voice. "Are you here to introduce us to your new friends?" Bob smiled, bent down, and gave her a hug. "There's been a lota crazy stuff going on. I'm happy that's yous and your sisters are okay, but I needs yous help. Can yous takes us ta Little Aster?" Bob asked.

Right before Medusa could answer, one of her two sisters spoke up in a snobby tone. "Good luck trying to get to him! Some monster is guarding his room. Every time we go in there and attempt to wake him up, it attacks! Stupid Midusliss can't even fight it off!"

In the back of the group, Izuku frowned at what the girl called Medusa. It reminded him of a spiky-haired Pomeranian.

Mordred, noticing the bit about a monster, spoke up. "Does it look like a spider and a butterfly had a passionate night, ten months ago?" The two identical girls nodded. "We wouldn't use such crass language, but yes, that does describe it. I'm surprised a mortal like you could think of that." Mordred, not appreciating the insult, began to step forward, but Emiya grabbed the back of her collar, pulling her back.

"I can take you to his room. I've been worried the monster is going to do something to him," Medusa said, one of her hands trembling a little. Sensing her fear, Bob patted her head. "It's gonna be okay," he said with a reassuring smile.

Leonidas then jumped from the back of the group to the front and struck a rockstar pose. "All right, my companions, let's go save a little monster from a big monster!" he shouted. Stheno and Euryale gave Leonidas a strange look, but Medusa gave him a slight smile and applauded his acrobatic stunts.

Slowly, the group of travelers made their way into the temple. The walls were lined with the myths of the Gorgon sisters and the Minotaur. The marble walls were inlaid with portraits of their stories and their demises. But it wasn't just the Greek versions; there were also Roman interpretations. In fact, multiple versions of these tales could be found. For instance, sometimes the legend of Medusa tells of Athena cursing her, while other times, she exists as a monster without Athena's influence. As they walked through these hallowed halls, they eventually arrived at a large, ornate door.
