'Should I use the Blood Guillotine?' Fang Yuan thought to himself. 'It could end the battle very quickly, but at the same time, I can't discount the fact that even in the wilderness, there might be people watching. The Bei Cla may still be watching us and have some method of detecting it. I don't have a Rank 5 method of hiding its aura.'
Thinking of such, his wings began flapping faster as he chose another method of attack.
The White Form Immortal Snake Gu by itself was almost a match for the Xuan Yuan Divine Pheasant Phoenix, depending on what kind of gu worms it had.
With Fang Yuan added to the mix, the battle was all but sealed as he sent out another Vermillion Moonblade at it, nearly tearing one of its wings off.
It fell to the ground, shooting out blasts of rainbow light in all directions, but in its pain, it was unable to target it properly and ended up striking many of the beasts on the ground, killing them within seconds. However, it could not strike either Bai Ning Bing or the White Form Immortal Snake. It crashed onto the ground, blood now completely coating its body, as it glared at Fang Yuan with hatred.
However, this only lasted for three breaths' time. By the time Fang Yuan thought that it might actually do something, it collapsed and stopped breathing.
"Now!"
Fang Yuan folded his wings, dropping down like a rock towards the ground as several small specks began running off from the corpse of the Xuan Yuan Divine Pheasant. Its body was still warm.
However, the Gu worms on it must have realized that it was done for and were abandoning it like rats jumping off of a sinking ship. The entire reason that Fang Yuan had started this fight was for these gu worms. He unleashed the Spring Autumn Cicada's Rank 6 aura, and they froze as he refined three of them. Two of them got away, but if the one he wanted happened to be among them, he would just have to curse it and chalk it up to his bad luck.
There was one Rank 3 and two Rank 4 Gu worms. The Rank 3 gu worm took the shape of a ladybug whose carapace was colored in all colors of the rainbow.
It was Rainbow Movement Gu, which would create a rainbow in the sky and then allow the gu master to traverse it as if the rainbow was made of solid matter and not light. This was good for climbing. However, to the Xuan Yuan Divine Pheasant which could fly, it was next to useless.
The second was the Rainbow Flash Gu, which is the movement type gu worm it had used to try to escape from them before the White Form Immortal Snake had stopped it.
And the third was the one that he was actually after - Rainbow Cannon Gu! It was in the form of a beetle that was holding a piece of rainbow-colored gemstone between its pincers. It was the attack that the Xuan Yuan Divine Pheasant had used in a desperate attempt to strike him and kill him.
It shot out a rainbow at the enemy, dealing damage wherever it happened to land. Despite its name, it lacked the speed of a ray of light, but it was very fast nonetheless. It was without a doubt a very good offensive Rank 4 Gu and far more suitable for fighting the beasts on Bei Gu Mountain than his other Gu worms.
Fang Yuan picked up various body parts of the Xuan Yuan Divine Pheasant, including its eyeballs, beak, meat, feathers, etc. They all could be used as part of gu refinement materials for light path gu worms and otherwise could be sold. The parts of a myriad beast king could go for a very nice price, as they were not easy to hunt.
"Are you alright?" Fang Yuan asked Bai Ning Bing.
"Indeed," she said, pupils dilated from the thrill of the fight.
"Then let's go back to Bei Gu Mountain."
The Bei clan scouts had mostly gone to sleep or retreated back to their tents by now, but there were still some who were on alert. One of them naturally caught the shadow of the White Form Immortal Snake moving across the moonlight and landing near the back of the mountain.
"They've returned. Clan head, they've returned," he said, sending word to the Bei clan head, although she was fast asleep. This information was vital to get to her regardless of the time.
'Oh, so he happened to return,' she thought to herself, a sinking feeling forming in her stomach. This meant that Fang Yuan had not simply given up and gone home. This late at night, there was no way that they could catch up to them, especially given the fact that Fang Yuan had a flying mount. They really could do nothing other than just see what happened.
Fang Yuan recognized the area he was looking for and landed there. Bai Ning Bing hopped off the White Form Immortal Snake.
"Why are we stopping here again? We're near the top of the mountain, Fang Yuan. We should be moving down if you want to look for a primeval spring," she said.
"Oh, come on with me. I'm sure that we will find the bones of those two lovers here," Fang Yuan said.
Bai Ning Bing snorted, still not understanding why Fang Yuan had decided to give that kind of tale, though it looked like he was cooking something even if it had led to nowhere with the Bei clan.
There were two caves which Fang Yuan felt met the description he had read about. One of them was blocked by some wild beasts, so they went to the other one instead. But Fang Yuan quickly realized that this was not the one they were looking for. As for the wild beasts, they fell to Rainbow Cannon Gu quickly enough, and he and Bai Ning Bing walked.
'This matches their description perfectly,' Fang Yuan thought to himself. It was said that while playing, they had wandered into a cave filled with bone spirals, some of which had strange markings on them. They twisted one of them, and it led to the open passageway.
Rainbow Cannon Gu could be used offensively, but by putting just a trickle of primeval essence into it, it also illuminated the inside of the cave.
"There's nothing here," Bai Ning Bing said. "Like I said, Fang Yuan, we've been wasting our time looking in these areas. We should go further down if you want to..."
Fang Yuan found a particularly interesting bone spiral and then twisted it like the story had described. Part of the cave moved away, revealing an entrance that led deeper into the mountain. Bai Ning Bing stopped whatever it was that she had been saying. Fang Yuan turned towards her with a wry smile.
"Oh, it looks like we happened to find something. How lucky of us!"
Bai Ning Bing was almost frozen at the spot, unable to comprehend this development at first before following him.
"Looks like our ancestors truly did leave something for us, hehe..."
