Fang Zheng screamed as pain erupted throughout his shoulder, only for it to immediately go away as his arm grew back completely. However, the memory of the pain still lingered in his body. A cold sweat coated his brow and his heart raced. He found that he was breathing heavily, even as Fang Yuan brother cut off his own right arm.
Doing something like that, even for Fang Yuan, was quite painful. He gritted his teeth before his arm ended up growing back.
Bai Ning Bing was a bit shocked, not by the fact that Fang Yuan had cut off his own and his brother's arms (she had expected that), but by the fact that he had such a good healing gu worm that it restored his arm completely.
She had thought that she might have to let him borrow the Bone Flesh Unity Gu, which by itself was a first-class healing gu. However, whatever Fang Yuan had clearly superseded it by several magnitudes. Fang Yuan tossed both severed arms into the flame. "Hopefully, that's all it needs," Fang Yuan said, as Fang Zheng felt dizzy, realizing that they might have to give up more flesh in order to get this gu.
Fang Yuan and Fang Zheng placed their hands on the pupil and began injecting their primeval essence. The flames began changing color. Fang Yuan quickly realized there was a problem midway through because of his vast experience when it came to refining.
"It needs more flesh," he said.
Fang Zheng's arm was torn off once again. The fact that it grew back near-instantly did not make the moment any less morbid. It seemed that these two additional arms were enough. As the fire started to die down, two Gu worms were born from the refinement: Bone Flesh Unity Gu! Fang Yuan picked them up. They were in the form of two bracelets - green and blue, one to be worn by each Gu Master.
Main Mission Complete!
Refined the Bone Flesh Unity Gu successfully.
Reward: A detailed map of Bei Gu Mountain!
Fang Yuan did not even have to claim the reward. There wasn't even an option to reject it. Immediately, his head was assaulted with a detailed 3-dimensional construction of the entirety of Bei Gu Mountain, all of its corridors, tunnels, important locations, etc.
It did not show any living things, but he had a clear view of its geography. Most importantly, it showed its primeval springs. There were two primeval springs located on Bei Gu Mountain. One of them was rather close to where they were, but they would have to deal with a large group of beasts before getting there. The other was closer to the foot of the mountain, where Bai Ning Bing would have liked to search initially.
Fang Yuan took the Flesh Bone Lord's book as another mission appeared from the system.
New main mission!
"Sharing is Caring."
Description: Allow the Bei Clan to settle on Bei Gu Mountain as well by giving them the location of the other spirit spring.
Reward: ???
Fang Yuan snorted inwardly. There was no way that he was about to give out that kind of location to another clan. What possible benefit would that give him?
Whether one saw it from a demonic or a righteous perspective, such a thing went completely against common sense. From the righteous perspective, he should look after his own clan, not the needs of another. If he told them where the other spring was, they would surely come to cause trouble for his clan in the future. And from the demonic perspective, why should he give benefits to anyone else? The system seemed to have realized that he was going to reject it and began elucidating what rewards it was going to give him:
Rewards:
The recipe for Rank 5 Testicular Torsion Gu.
The recipe for Rank 4 Bone Javelin Gu.
The recipe for Rank 5 Bone Lance Gu.
Rank 5 Earth Eating Eel Gu (x 1)
Rank 5 Man Triumphing over Heaven Gu (x1).
Rank 5 training weights Gu (x1).
Rank 5 Ink Dragon Gu (x1) [A powerful offensive gu worm].
500,000 primeval stones.
Fang Yuan was slightly taken aback by just how generous these rewards were.
The system had remained mostly quiet until now, but it looked like it was raining everything down upon him at once.
A Rank 5 Training Weights Gu could be useful, as he could combine it with the Bone Flesh Unity Gu to try and improve Fang Zheng's cultivation level.
Although he had gone through much pain in order to refine the Bone Flesh Unity Gu, he was disappointed to learn upon refining it that it was only Rank 4. Since the Bei twins had risen to Rank 5 he has assumed that it would be useful even to Rank 5, but it looked like such was not the case. That meant that it could not carry Rank 5 primeval essence.
It would have been quite useful to him before, but right now, he couldn't even use it to advance someone else's cultivation without diluting his own primeval essence to Rank 4 using something like Training Weights Gu first.
As for the recipes for the Rank 4 and Rank 5 gu worms, they both seemed to be advancements of Bone Spear Gu. If Fang Yuan wanted to settle his clan here, rank four and rank five bone path recipes were quite useful.
As for Man Triumphing Over Heaven Gu, it was a consumable gu worm that could be used to forcibly open one's aperture if one had no talent to cultivate. He had no use for it right now.
Rank 5 Ink Dragon Gu... the system said it was an offensive gu worm, but that could have several connotations. It seemed to be from the Painting Path based on its name.
Rank 5 Earth Eating Eel would be useful for transplanting Moon Orchid seeds from one location to another.
'If such is the case,' he thought to himself, 'and I only need to tell them the location of this primeval spring, perhaps something can be worked out.'
From the righteous path perspective, it was still the wrong thing to reveal to the Bai Clan where the second primeval spring was. From the demonic path perspective, though, it was completely fine for Fang Yuan to prioritize his own benefits over those of others.
The reason why it was wrong from the righteous path perspective was that a good clan leader would recognize that they would not live forever and would not willingly give over such a resource to a potential enemy. However, Fang Yuan had no consideration for the future of his clan beyond what they could give him, and as such, these benefits, which greatly benefited himself, were more than enough reason for him to want to do so.
"Alright. I think we should go down here," he said. They walked further down into the cavern and exited onto the mountain.
