Chapter 490 - Ch 490 : Don’t hurt Timmy’s pigeons

When Su Yuan and Aether arrived at Mondstadt Cathedral, they glanced up at the clock on the cathedral roof—it was around 7:55 in the morning…

Aether thought, if the night shift at the Cathedral ended at 8 o'clock, then maybe they could still stop Rosaria from working overtime and falling into the Eerie's force!

Bringing Su Yuan with him, Aether pushed open the cathedral doors, only to find everything inside normal—no signs of anything unusual…

They then saw Barbara, who seemed to be speaking to Rosaria…

"Miss Rosaria, it's almost 8 a.m., your shift is about to end…"

Barbara said to Rosaria:

"I know your principle is never to work overtime. So even though this is a special period, neither I nor anyone in the Church will force you to stay longer…"

"But Barbara, you've already gone the whole night without closing your eyes, just to heal the injured…"

Though Rosaria's tone was calm, Barbara could still hear the concern hidden within her words.

"It's alright. Compared to my sister, Master Jean, the workload I've handled is nothing at all."

Barbara, though clearly exhausted, still smiled as she replied, "If my sister can manage it, then I can too!"

"But…"

Just as Rosaria was about to continue, Aether strode forward with Su Yuan and spoke firmly:

"Rosaria, there's nothing more to say!"

"When it's time to clock out, you clock out, simple as that!"

Rosaria, startled to see Aether and Su Yuan suddenly appear, wanted to speak further, but Aether cut her off again:

"If it really comes to it, Su Yuan and I will help the Church take care of the wounded. You just finish your shift and go rest properly!"

Although on the way here Aether seemed to have some concerns and didn't say much to him, facing the current situation, Su Yuan understood: Rosaria's condition for becoming Eerie very likely had to do with working overtime and not clocking out on time!

Even though he had indeed lost the intelligence prompts from the palm of his left hand, Aether truly seemed to know things in advance.

As long as he followed Aether's lead, nothing would go wrong!

So Su Yuan also spoke up: "That's right, Rosaria. When your shift ends, just clock out. Leave the rest to us."

After that, Aether left the Cathedral together with Rosaria, probably to explain to her about the existence of the Eerie and the situation.

"Mr. Su Yuan, what on earth is going on?" Barbara asked from the side.

"The condition for Rosaria's Eerie transformation is most likely working overtime—not leaving on time…" Su Yuan replied.

"I actually considered that too…" Barbara nodded.

"That's why I was just saying we shouldn't let Miss Rosaria overwork."

"Actually, next time, when it comes to Vision holders like Rosaria, it wouldn't hurt to tell them about the Eerie force. After all, she isn't an ordinary person. She could become our ally and a powerful help in fighting them," Su Yuan said.

"Yes, I understand, Mr. Su Yuan," Barbara responded.

"Honestly, if we hadn't been able to convince Miss Rosaria just now, I was already planning to confess the truth to her."

Before long, Aether returned, letting out a breath of relief as he said, "It's done. I've explained everything to Rosaria clearly, and for now we've eliminated this potential threat…"

He then turned to Su Yuan and said: "Su Yuan, Xiao has already been taken away by the Wanderer disguised as Venti. Zhongli is currently on his way to Mondstadt to bring us this news…"

"If there's nothing urgent right now, why don't we wait for Zhongli at Mondstadt's city gate? We can also check on Timmy while we're there."

"Alright." Su Yuan nodded, then said his farewells to Barbara and, together with Aether and Paimon, headed toward the bridge at Mondstadt's gate.

When they arrived by the bridge, Timmy—who they hadn't seen for a long time—was finally there once again, holding a sack of grain and carefully feeding the pigeons and birds.

"According to the intelligence prompts I received, once the animals Timmy feeds are harmed, there's a high chance he'll be corrupted and controlled by the Eerie…" Su Yuan said thoughtfully.

"So Aether, from now on, you probably can't bully Timmy and his pigeons anymore."

"Don't worry, Su Yuan, that was all in the past…" Aether smiled awkwardly.

"Back then, I was just young and reckless, didn't know any better!"

"Now that I know something like this could trigger Timmy's Eerie transformation, of course I won't do it again."

"Besides, most of the poultry I hunted back then ended up in Paimon's stomach anyway. She's the real final boss here—the mastermind pulling strings from the shadows!" Aether said jokingly.

"Hey, hey, hey! Traveler, what's that supposed to mean? Are you blaming me for eating too much?" Paimon stomped her foot angrily in midair.

Just as Su Yuan's group was chatting, something unexpected happened.

A few older kids, holding slingshots, approached Timmy with eager looks, clearly intending to shoot at the pigeons…

Seeing this, Su Yuan and Aether hurried forward to stop them.

"Hey, what are you doing? Why are you bullying Timmy and his pigeons?" Aether demanded.

"We're from the villages around Mondstadt," one of the older boys said.

"The pigeons and wild birds Timmy feeds keep ruining our farmland. A lot of our grain has been eaten by them!"

Su Yuan nodded slightly.

Timmy feeding pigeons was like feeding stray cats—it was a kind-hearted act, but it did bring troublesome consequences.

"Even if what you say has some truth to it, you still can't just go around harming small animals!" Aether said.

"Timmy only feeds a dozen or so pigeons—how much damage could they really cause?"

As he spoke, Aether pulled out a pouch of Mora and handed it to the group of older children.

"Here—this should compensate for your grain losses. That should be enough, right?"

Watching this, Su Yuan couldn't help thinking that, indeed, anything solvable with money really was just a small matter.

The children took the Mora and left, and both Su Yuan and Aether breathed a sigh of relief.

Luckily they had arrived in time to stop all this—otherwise, if Timmy had fallen into an Eerie state, things would've been disastrous…

But before they could relax for long, they saw the "Timmy" beside them—his face beginning to twist, his body starting to emit the aura of the Eerie…
