Chapter 25 - Chapter Twenty Five : Jealousy

Pov, William

I've got the paper with the address my dad kept for years in one hand, and with the other, I knock on the apartment door, a bit hesitantly.

A few seconds felt like years as I wait for the door to open and see her in front of me. I have no idea what happened to her, how she lived, or what she looks like. And I'm not sure if she'll recognize me.

I look at my son, and he smiles gently at me, as if to tell me not to be sad no matter what happens. And he's right beside me.

The door finally opens and a young woman appears behind it. She looks at both of us questioningly and remains silent.

"Good day. I'm looking for a woman named Camellia Davis, and I've been told she lives here." I say, and she looks at me like I'm here to steal something.

She says, "I don't know her. Sorry."

I'm really surprised. Did my dad lie to me again?

Or did my mother move to another place? Did she forget about her son, who she never thought would grow up and look for her?

Did she?

My heart feels like it's shrinking. I make a fist with my hand, and I feel my son's hand holding mine. Then he asks the lady, "Do you know anyone who can give us any information?"

She looks away, seems to be thinking, and then shakes her head and says, "No."

I hear him sigh, so I say, "Sorry for bothering you. Have a nice day."

I take my son's hand and we walk away from the house. I am wondering why she did that, and then I suddenly feel like I regret searching for her.

It's better to not know the details of my past and be free from the problems it caused me.

...

Pov, Evander

As soon as we get back to the hotel, I stand in my place while watching my dad, who's really sad. It makes me feel worse.

He takes his shoes off and lies on the couch, putting his arm over his face. He stays like that for about an hour. I'm not sure if he's falling asleep or drowning in thoughts.

I slowly walk over to him, kneel down next to him, and say in a low voice, "Dad?"

He doesn't answer me, so I decide not to bother him more, and what makes me really upset is that I'm unable to help him.

When I'm about to stand up, I flinch when I hear something like small stones hitting the window. I look over at my dad, who's also looking at the window with his eyebrows furrowed. We exchange glances for a moment, and then we hear the same sound again.

I try to get up to go outside, but my dad grabs my arm and says, "Stay here."

He goes over to the window, moves the curtains aside, and looks out. Then he lets out a screaming, and falls on the ground. When someone with a ridiculous hat appears behind the window, he's looking at us with a big smile.

He's Marcelo, again.

His actions are frustrating, so I rush to the window, open it, and yell, "What do you want? You want me to finish you off, right?"

He's got that same smile on his face, pushing me to go even faster. He comes in and starts exploring, as if he's on a journey.

"Who are you?" My dad says, as he takes a step back, he looks both confused and scared because of how the wizard looked.

"Get out of here before I kick you out," I say, gritting my teeth. But he doesn't care. He looks at my dad with narrowed eyes and points his index finger at him. "You must be William, the famous human being."

I quickly grab my dad's hand and make him stand behind me, saying, "Don't you dare."

"Huh!" He chuckles, acting like my threats don't matter. Then he frowns and says, "I wonder how Luciana fell in love with someone as unattractive as you. She has no taste."

Then I see my dad standing in front of Marcelo, looking at him with narrowed eyes. I can hear the anger in his voice as he says, "Excuse me?"

The wizard raises his eyebrows, like he's surprised by my dad's courage, and I'm nervous.

A fight is about to happen.

"What do you have to do with my relationship with Luciana?" He asks, looking at him intensely, and I start to smell the scent of jealousy.

The wizard doesn't say a word. He just gives him this smirk, tilts his head, and stares at my dad like he's scanning him. judging him. Then he says, "I think you'll be attractive when you try my magic."

I'm not quite sure what he's getting at.

He reaches into his jacket pocket, pulls out a little wooden stick, and taps my dad's forehead with it.

In an instant, he changes into a tiny white creature with a fluffy tail and big ears.

What's that?

"No!" I yell and run toward the weird creature running in every direction, almost hitting the foot of the table. I catch him to stop him from hurting himself.

"Now it's your turn. Show me how you're going to solve this issue, Your Highness."

The wizard talks to me in a pretty rebellious way, leaning on the windowsill with one foot, raising his hat and bowing a little before disappearing.

"You bastard, you won't get away with it!"

I keep looking through the window, searching for him with ragged breaths, and all I hear is the echo of his laughter.

...

It's night, and I'm still sitting in the corner with my knees to my chest. I put the little creature in a plastic box because I was afraid it would escape, so I left a small part of the lid open to keep it from suffocating.

I look up and stare at the ceiling.

"How'd he find me? Did he follow me?" I ask myself, and then I widen my eyes when I realize something dangerous.

He figured out how my mom and I came to be here.

"I hope you die, Marcelo. Give me my father back, you piece of shit!" I yell, tears streaming down my face, as I look at the creature that had just stopped moving. For a second, I think it's staring back at me.

It's almost like it understands everything I'm saying.

I make a face and roll onto my stomach, keeping an eye on him. He starts to move like nothing happened. I get disappointed, so I rest my head on the floor and go back to crying.

Out of the blue, I think of someone who could help us. I quickly sit on the floor and call for Eva.

She comes into view, and I say, "Luna!"

She stares at me for a second, and I say, "She's the wizard, my mother's close friend. Can you bring her here?"

She nods and immediately flies to the mirror on the wall in the living room, then goes through it.

I take a deep breath while waiting for her to come back with Luna, and she's one of the wizards who helped my mom get into the human world.

But she doesn't know about all the stuff that went down here.
