Sarutobi Hiruzen vs. Six-Tails Naruto
"The Nine-Tails..."
The moment Sarutobi Hiruzen returned to the Hokage Tower—his mind still preoccupied with plans to mobilize the ANBU and Root to suppress the Uchiha clan's impending coup—a massive, malevolent chakra suddenly erupted across the village.
The oppressive pressure was unmistakable.
The Nine-Tailed Fox.
"Damn it... the Uchiha!"
Hiruzen's old hands trembled. If this was part of their coup, then they'd gone far beyond a political rebellion.
A clan's mutiny was one thing—dangerous, but still internal. But unleashing the Nine-Tails would mean indiscriminate destruction. Ninja, civilians, even children—none would be spared.
Just like that night, Hiruzen thought grimly. He remembered Minato Namikaze giving his life to stop the Nine-Tails before. The Fourth Hokage had used the Dead Demon Consuming Seal to split the beast and imprison it in his newborn son—Naruto Uzumaki.
"A seal…"
But this wasn't the same situation. Back then, the Nine-Tails was ripped from Kushina during childbirth. This time, Naruto's will may have been overwhelmed from within.
If that's the case… Naruto wasn't just a host anymore—he was transforming into a Tailed Beast.
Even if Hiruzen were to sacrifice himself now, he couldn't use the Dead Demon Consuming Seal. Only a jinchūriki with weakened will, not the full beast, was in play—and worse, Naruto was still alive and might be saved.
"Summon Xu Fan immediately!"
Hiruzen barked at Yamanaka Inoichi, the village's sensory division head.
Only Xu Fan, with his Mokuton and sealing abilities, could contain Naruto safely.
But deep down, Hiruzen knew Xu Fan had left with Uchiha Itachi for Naka Shrine to confront the Uchiha leadership. They might not return in time.
"Aburame Torune!"
He turned next to the Root operative. "Alert the village. Begin evacuations immediately. Get the civilians and Genin-level shinobi out of the area!"
"Yes, Lord Third!"
Torune and Inoichi vanished in a blur.
Hiruzen exhaled, calming his aged heart. Despite his mastery of all five basic chakra natures, he couldn't use space-time ninjutsu.
Unlike Minato, he couldn't teleport the Tailed Beast outside the village.
"I'll have to fight it head-on."
He bit his thumb and swiped blood across his palm.
"Summoning Jutsu: Monkey King—Enma!"
With a puff of smoke, the white-haired Monkey King appeared, arms crossed and eyes serious.
"What is it this time, old man—"
Enma paused, his expression darkening as the thick, demonic chakra washed over him.
"The Nine-Tails… again?"
"There's no time to explain," Hiruzen said curtly. "Transform!"
In an instant, Enma transformed into the Adamantine Staff—a black, indestructible pole that could grow, shrink, and extend at Hiruzen's command.
"Let's go."
With the staff in hand, the old Hokage leapt from the tower and raced toward the chakra's source.
Naruto… please be safe.
As he neared the battlefield, Hiruzen finally laid eyes on the transformed boy. Naruto had not fully turned into the Kyuubi. He was in a partial transformation—about the size of an adult, his skin cloaked in bubbling, blood-red chakra. Six jagged tails flared violently behind him. Bone-like armor protruded from his chest and arms, forming a crude ribcage.
"Six tails... he's halfway there," Hiruzen muttered. "That means his mind is nearly gone."
He quickly signaled the ANBU who'd followed him.
"Form a perimeter. Don't engage unless necessary."
Kakashi and Yamato, the only ones who could help, were already unconscious from earlier efforts to suppress the transformation. That left Hiruzen alone.
"Xu Fan... hurry," he whispered.
But until then, it was his burden to carry.
Hiruzen raised the Adamantine Staff and launched it forward. "Enma!"
The pole shot forward, aiming to knock Naruto out of the village's center. If he could drive him into the forest, the damage could be contained.
But the transformed Naruto moved with terrifying speed.
White vapor hissed from his maw as he twisted midair and landed atop the extended staff, chakra tails lashing behind him like whips.
"GRAAAAAH!!"
Naruto howled—a sound not entirely human. He bounded toward Hiruzen like a missile.
Enma's face briefly appeared on the staff. "Now!" he shouted, reaching out with spectral arms to grab Naruto's leg.
A chakra tail intercepted him mid-grab, smashing the staff downward. The blow cracked the stone under Hiruzen's feet, forcing him to leap back.
"Tch... even in this state, he's coordinated..."
The nearby ANBU made hand seals—Water Style: Water Dragon Bullet!
A roaring column of water surged toward Naruto, but the boy—no, the beast—smashed through it with sheer force, charging straight at the Hokage.
With one fluid motion, Naruto raised both clawed hands and slashed toward Hiruzen's throat—
Road to the heavens
