Instead of the maid, Roxanne helped Vivianne out of her dress. She had dismissed the maid earlier, wanting to undo her wife's dress herself, something she had been longing to do ever since she saw Vivianne emerge from their room wearing it.
"Let's go back home tomorrow," Vivianne said.
"Of course," Roxanne replied, carefully unbuttoning the dress one by one and loosening the straps of her wife's corset. "You don't want to have lunch or anything with them? The Rothschilds?"
"No, I want to get away from them as soon as possible," Vivianne said, shivering slightly as her wife's cold fingers traced her back.
The dress finally came undone, and Roxanne gently slipped it off Vivianne. "It's cold," Vivianne murmured.
"Come closer, then," Roxanne said, pulling her into a long, searing kiss.
