"Hi."
As my feet landed on the ground, the light purple haired girl who had been walking let out a yelp as she took a few steps back with a scream.
"Y-you! Ghost?!
I ignored her words, instead keeping a poker face whilst I looked straight at her.
At once, I could see the myriad of emotions in her eyes.
Confusion
Realisation
Then, panic.
Until finally a return to calm.
Interesting.
What types of thoughts were going through her head right now I wonder?
"Ah! I-Is it you, Mr. Gojo…"
The girl's voice held a slight wobble as she placed her hands behind her back. She gave an awkward smile as her feet shifted around.
Mr?
"Do I look that old, Yuna?" I pointed to myself. "I'm a teenager too y'know?"
"That's not what I meant!" She hurriedly corrected herself as she waved her hands. "I… just thought that it would be more polite to refer to you this way."
"And may I ask how you know my name? I didn't think that I was important enough to be in your eyes…"
Her voice slowly became more stable as she spoke. However, she still kept her posture very submissive…
Not in a kinky way of course. More of a 'Please don't maul me' type of posture.
Her back was bent to make herself look shorter. Her shoulders were bent inwards to not look too big.
All in all, it was pretty much the equivalent of a puppy going,
'I'm not a threat! Please, let me go!'
But unfortunately, she wasn't a puppy.
Ahd I wasn't planning on letting her go.
"Your nametag." I pointed out. " And polite huh?" I placed a finger on my chin as I looked up. "I don't really like it though."
Silence.
She did not utter a single word after mine.
"Aren't you gonna say anything?" I asked. "Like talk about your backstory, or about how you have a family or something…"
She forced a wry smile on her face.
"T-that… usually happen when I-I'm begging for my life right? Surely someone a-as k-kind and magn-nanimus as you wouldn-"
"Maybe I would? Who knows?"
Ah, she's gone quiet again.
Seeing this, I really wanted to sigh.
I was hoping that I could get her to say some things, potentially boast about her powers or her background. But it seems like she's… giving up?
No way right?
Are pseudo Herrscher's that humble to not brag? And shouldn't Honkai energy increase the aggressiveness of those that don't have enough resistance as well?
Or is she capable of keeping her cool?
Strange.
My own silence seemed to be tormenting her as I noticed beads of sweat roll her cheeks. Her face was as pale as snow while her legs began to tremble.
And no buildup of Honkai energy yet?
Then suddenly, she moved.
A red pulse of energy immediately formed at my fingers as I was about to blast it…
Only to see her kneeling on the ground?
"P-please help me!" She sobbed. "I-I can't control myself!!"
Oh?
"What do you mean?"
Her tears ran down her cheeks as she tried to come over to try grasp my leg like it was a rope to survival.
But Infinity blocked her.
And at the same time…
*Clunk*
That did not deter her as she continued.
"I-I don't know when, but sometimes… I… I just can't control what I'm doing! I-It's like another person comes out and takes my body."
*Clunk*
"Uh huh."
"That other person… that other person is a monster! It's not me, I swear! She- she kills people! And tears apart flesh and bone!"
*Clunk*
"Uh huh. And what else?"
"S-she also… eats people! She uses them to make herself stronger!!" Yuna took a deep breath before she hyperventilated, "I… I'm trying my best to stop her but… I don't know how…"
*Clunk*
"Mm hmm. What else?"
"... that's all I know…"
Her eyes were frantically pacing between the hard pavement and I. Her hands fidgeted on her skirt as she finally said,
"W-would you please help me?"
I gave her a big comforting smile.
"Haha. Of course. Why wouldn't I?"
She immediately perked up, a hopeful smile of her own appearing on her face.
"Really?! Then-"
"I really do need to request that you stop trying to poison me though." I laughed again. "It's not working."
"Ah, is that so?"
Her face immediately emptied of all emotions.
"That is unfortunate then."
"It really is, haha. Red."
At once, a red orb appeared between us before immediately detonating.
The ground beneath shattered at once as vines poured out of the fissure, protecting her from the explosion and obscuring her finger.
But that didn't matter.
I pointed a finger…
"Dismantle"
The vines shattered into microscopic pieces, revealing the girl's figure disappearing into the sewers.
I was about to chase her immediately, but then I noticed something.
That figure…
It was green.
I laughed as I stayed in my position. "You can make clones? You really are Homurama!"
"Don't compare her to Homurama. She's too lame for that."
Mei's voice floated into my ear as she appeared beside me in a flash of thunder.
"You should stop hiding. I know you're still here, you faker."
No reply.
And that provoked Mei enough to send a bolt of thunder crashing into a nearby tree, forcing the girl's figure to pop out with black smoke emerging from her figure.
"YOU TRAITOR?! WHY ARE YOU HELPING HUMANITY!" She coughed as she scrambled on the floor, lightning sparking on her skin.
Ahh… there was the aggression I was looking for.
Not gonna lie, she hid that really, really well. I was surprised at how cool and calm headed she was through most of that.
Sure she went through the crying and all that stuff, but regardless, the fact that she could hold herself back from this was pretty insane in my opinion.
Yuna tried desperately to move, pushing her hands on the pavement.
"YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DESTROY THEM! NOT-"
Another bolt of thunder came down from the sky.
"Be silent. You're causing such a ruckus."
Youch… that's gonna leave a mark…
Or a couple of marks…
Yuna didn't seem too good right now as she laid on the floor, but she did a small gesture as vines wrapped around her and pulled her off the ground.
"Hey! Yuna~"
"What is it?" She spat out blood. "Are you going to mock me, human?"
"Nah. I'm just curious how you get your plants? Do you like, create them from nothing through Honkai energy or are you just making them grow fast?"
"I'm not going to answer that."
"Ah well. I just thought that farmers would really like to have an ability like that."
"Hmm… that does seem to be true. Wouldn't that be such a nice ability for Kiana?" Mei commented.
"Right?! She'd love having so much to eat!"
And at this moment, another voice chimed in.
"What's going on with Kiana?"
A small hooded figure jumped down from the rooftops as well. A cross floated behind her as she landed softly next to us.
"Hey, aren't you kinda late, principal?" I complained.
"It's not my fault that you guys didn't tell me where she was!"
"Ah, touche."
"So is that the pseudo Herrscher, girls?" Theresa pointed to Yuna.
?
"Girls?" I pointed to myself.
"Oops. Sorry. I'm just used to it." Theresa scratched the back of her head with an awkward hehe.
"..."
Then, I noticed Yuna slowly moving away being dragged by her vines.
"Ah guys, she's running away. Should we catch her?"
All gazes locked onto the pseudo Herrscher at once, making her freeze for a moment. It was only for a moment though as she immediately skedaddled off.
Welp.
I guess it's a chase then.
