Chapter 89
St. Freya Academy was a pretty nice place.
When we arrived, our luggage was taken for us to the place where we would be staying(for now hehe).
Theresa and Himeko took us on a little trip around the academy. It was around the time when students were supposed to still be studying, so it was mostly quiet…
At least until we made it to the class areas though.
"Is that… a guy?"
"So he's the transfer student we've been hearing about?"
"Dunno. The Principal and Miss Himeko are taking him around with a bunch of other girls though…"
Ah… the gossip is starting.
I guess the news about us have been leaked beforehand. Normally, I would be kinda surprised that having transfer students would be such a big deal but thinking about it, I guess I am going to be the first male student in St. Freya,
It's still kinda funny they're acting like they've never seen a guy before though.
"He's soooo handsome!"
…
Ok. I think I know why they're acting like this now.
Same shit, different place.
"Girls. Focus on your classes."
Himeko's stern voice rang through the school block, immediately silencing the students. It sorta reminded me of how the head disciplinarian teacher of my past life would cow every student haha.
They went back to studying, but the side glances were very, very obvious.
I feel a gentle poke at my side at this moment.
"Looks like you're popular huh, Mr Handsome."
I sighed.
"I'm sorry that I can't help people's attraction to my superior genetics. It's not often that you have the perfect combination of a-"
"The Bronya requests that Gojo stop the self-glaze. The Bronya will get second hand embarrassment."
Hearing that, I just shrugged half-heartedly with a smile.
The walk through the school was quite brief in the end. Neither Theresa nor Himeko planned to go through the whole thing. After all, we just arrived and there would be a lot more time for this in the future.
Also, they probably wanted us to get a good rest for a bit.
Thus overall, I assumed that they just wanted to do a bit of showing off of their school's facilities.
Did it work?
Not really.
I was more interested in the combat areas but they didn't take us there yet. Why the heck did Theresa bring us to all the boring places like the library instead of the fun places?
Oh well.
In the end, we were told that the place we were staying at was cleaned up for us already.
That was pretty good in my opinion, considering that in most stories I've read, they ask you to clean up the room yourself.
But then again, I might just be a bit poisoned by novels…
Back on topic now…
Since Theresa didn't want to waste the whole day on going through the school, she finally took us to the place we were supposed to stay at…
"Are you kidding me?"
I stood in front of the building with a deadpan on my face.
"Himeko is going to live here too?"
"We… don't have any more spare buildings."
Theresa looked away with hands behind her back as she fidgeted around
"Normally, I wouldn't ask you to live here since you're a guy, but the other girls seem really close to you…"
"Himeko didn't mind it?"
"She said that she was willing to do it for the greater good."
"Uh huh…'
"I'm not sure if she's actually unhappy or if she was just pretending though…'
?
????
????????????
"W-what did you say?"
Theresa immediately recognised her mistake as she jumped up slightly.
"Ah nothing. You must have misheard what I said about Himeko haha."
"I guess it can't be helped." I combed my hair back like a douchebag. "My charm is really hard to avoid."
"You're so narcissistic! She's just happy to be able to help you guys out!"
"That's nice. But let's be honest here." I laughed. I took a step forward, making her step back. Her fidgeting even became more pronounced, thinking I was going to make fun of her.
But I had something else on my mind.
"Is this just an excuse for you to monitor us?"
Theresa's face went blank for a moment before she flinched slightly.
"W-what? Why would you say that?"
"Well you put your Major and a highly skilled combatant into our midst right?" I gave her a closed eyed smile. "Isn't that literally saying, 'I want to see how you guys behave and eliminate you if something goes wrong'?"
At this point, Theresa seemd to have a grasp of the situation by now as her expression softened.
"You're thinking too much, Gojo. That's not what we meant by this at all."
I went down to her level, which made a vein pop out on her forehead for some funny reason, and raised an eyebrow.
"Are you sure?"
This time, she didn't even flinch.
"Yes."
She placed a hand on her chest.
"I can swear that I don't mean any harm to you all. I want the best for all of you."
I didn't say anything after that.
And Theresa didn't push.
She knew that it wouldn't be easy for me to just trust her at the drop of a hat no matter how friendly we acted to each other on the surface.
After all, how long have we known each other?
There are people out there that have known each other for years, and still have not truly known each other.
Well, this sounds a bit like people die when they're killed, but you get what I mean.
But one thing did make me happy about this conversation.
She isn't lying.
That was good enough.
"Alright then."
I jumped back up.
"Sorry about that. I just need to be a bit cautious about things sometimes y'know?"
"Is it because all those video games you guys play act as a bad influence?"
"... I didn't know you were one of those people."
"C'mon. Just go unpack your stuff." She slapped my back lightly. "Don't get stuck with the worst room later."
"Ehh, it doesn't matter." I shrugged. "I'd just book a nice hotel room at Homuriot Hotel instead then."
"For the rest of your time here?"
"Yeah. It's pretty cheap."
A sneer came across Theresa's face for a brief moment before she looked away.
"Damn it… why are you showing off your money to me… Hotel rooms are damn expensive nowadays…"
Aren't you technically part of some sort of super family since you're the principal of this school? Plus, you knew Kiana's parents…
Or maybe…
She just has bad budgeting?
Tsk tsk,
Should have kept away from the Starbucks and avocado toast.
Hahaha
As I walked into the building, leaving Theresa behind me, she merely stood there, her eyes softening whilst staying on my disappearing back.
"Gojo…"
"What have you gone through to be like this?"
