Chapter 66 - Treason in the Mist

 The air in the Hagania Forest was thick and damp just before dawn. A light fog hung low between the tree trunks, cutting down visibility. Danniel Harrington had to tread carefully as he stepped over moss-covered roots, slick with dew and crawling with poisonous caterpillars that could leave your skin red and burning if you so much as brushed against their fuzzy bodies.

The sky was starting to shift from pitch black to a washed-out gray, but the sun hadn't shown its face yet. Hagania was full of mysteries no one had ever really cracked. Not only was the forest home to savage beasts that could rip through flesh with a single snap of their jaws, but there were also other creatures, ones that blended perfectly into the trees and thick foliage, just waiting to strike. Hell, even something no bigger than a kid's pinky finger could take down a beast the size of an elephant.
