Reiner was absolutely fuming at the request. But once again, Glen Lancaster told the Earl to keep his temper in check.

"But Your Highness, isn't that downright disrespectful?!" Reiner snapped, still struggling to hold it together. "You know how delicate that kind of request is, and—"

"Earl Reiner Jürgen Von Wilhelm," Haston cut in, shutting Reiner up instantly, "You may run Urioil and have a grip on every trade guild in the Aetharion Empire. But you need to understand something: leaving the empress' throne empty is like giving our enemies the perfect window to infiltrate and wreck Aetharion from angles we'd never expect. That's why marriage is the smartest way to shut down any rebellion before it even starts."

Reiner still wasn't buying it.
