The portal flared open right in Glen's bedroom. Finala flew low beside him, trailing him closely as he strode in, completely unclothed. Glen wasted no time laying Etien down again, the Duke still unconscious and writhing in pain.
"How long has it been?" Glen asked suddenly, startling Finala.
The Golium-winged fairy flinched. Her voice trembled. "It's been five full days.…"
"So, tell me, have you been guarding the palace like you were supposed to? Or were you just lurking in the forest listening to us moan for five damn days straight?"
Finala froze, her cheeks blazing red. Ashamed, though she couldn't deny it. That's exactly what happened.
Her silence dragged out for minutes, testing Glen's patience. He exhaled sharply, spun around, fury tightening his gaze. He lunged at her, missed. She darted out of reach again and again, wings whipping the air.
