Chapter 43 - Close calls

The ride back was quiet.

Too quiet.

Harper sat behind Logan, arms loosely around his waist, but her thoughts were far from still. The wind blew through her hair, the city lights passed in a blur, and yet all she could think about was the man in front of her.

Who was he, really?

That fight back at Club Nova… the way he moved, the speed, the precision. It wasn't just reflex. It was control. Training.

Logan wasn't just some cocky college bad boy.

He was something else.

And that scared her more than she wanted to admit.

Something about the way he moved with precision, looking unbothered and just walking right over the man. He had no mercy, even if he tried to hide it.

*Who was he?* she asked herself again.

Logan was also deep in thought. He almost let his demon out today. Only, he didn't regret it. He rather felt disappointed in himself for not murdering the man right there.

*Who the hell did the man think he was to touch Harper with that filth he held in his hand?*
