⛰️ Flashback – The Mountains of the Dojo
When Eidan and Kael's parents died, the two children were taken to their grandfather's old mountain dojo.
Cold, damp, silent. A world of stone, sweat, and screams.
They were only six and eight years old, but it already felt like war.
Eidan, stubborn and proud, had learned early to take it.
Kael, frail and sickly, was often left behind.
They couldn't stand each other.
> "Why are you so slow?!"
"And why are you always angry?!"
The days passed between cruel training and scant food.
Eidan saw Kael as a burden. Kael hated the way Eidan looked down on him.

🐾 The Day of the Accident
It was winter. Grandfather had sent them to gather wood in the forest, alone. A test.
The snow was thick, the silence profound.
That's when they saw it.
> A bear. Huge. With a slashed side and bloodshot eyes. Wounded, hungry.
Kael was paralyzed.
Eidan grabbed a branch.
> "Run!"
"No! He'll kill you!"
"Better me than both of us!"
But Kael didn't run.
He stayed. He screamed. He threw stones. He did it to distract the beast.
And that's when the impossible happened.
Two wolf cubs, white as snow, emerged from the thicket.
They didn't attack. They defended the children.
One bit the bear's paw.
Eidan, with a furious cry, drove the branch into the creature's throat.
The monster collapsed.
Silence.
Breathing.
Blood.
And eyes that met, different from before.

🩸 Promise in Blood
The two children, stained with snow and blood, looked at each other.
The wolf cubs crouched beside them, trembling.
Eidan raised a chipped knife.
Kael understood.
> "Let's do it. Let's promise."
They cut their palms.
And mixed the blood.
> "From now on... we are brothers. It doesn't matter what Grandpa says. It doesn't matter who falls. We will never leave each other behind."
The cubs were named Yra and Fen.
Growing up alongside the two children, they became part of their childhood, part of the promise.
