Chapter 255 - Chapter 255. Indigo League Conference 2

"Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen! Ronan has just released Hydreigon to face Glaceon, who currently has a four-stack Special Attack from a Baton Pass. Both Hail and Sandstorm are still raging and will take a while to calm down, and while Clarissa still has an Aurora Veil up, it likely won't last much longer," the announcer exclaims.

Hydreigon doesn't waste any time and immediately fires a Fire Blast from its elevated position, aiming to make its limited time on the battlefield count. It howls, launching a massive ball of flame that dives straight toward Glaceon, weakening as it passes through the lingering Aurora Veil.

The explosion sends Glaceon skidding toward the rear of the arena before she regains her balance and counters with Alluring Voice.

Hydreigon tries to evade, but it's useless. The powerful sound-based attack nails it mid-flight. It staggers and crashes to the ground, severely injured. One more hit and it would be out.

Glaceon attempts another Alluring Voice to finish it off, but Hydreigon is faster. It closes the distance between them in a blink and lands a U-turn before the attack connects, forcing Ronan to send out his next Pokémon.

He waited for the Alluring Voice to fade before releasing Weavile onto the field. The moment it appeared, Weavile dashed straight for Glaceon, reaching her in the blink of an eye.

Since Ronan had taken his time before releasing his next Pokémon, Glaceon had used Curse in the meantime. Her speed dropped by one stage, but her Attack and Defense both rose in return.

As soon as Weavile closed the distance, it used Brick Break, finally shattering the Aurora Veil that was hanging by a thread while also dealing super-effective damage to Glaceon.

Fortunately for her, Ice Body restored a bit of health during the battle. Combined with her boosted Defense, she managed to survive the hit and retaliate with a point-blank Alluring Voice.

The clash was devastating. Glaceon was knocked back by the blow, while her counterattack sent Weavile flying as well.

Weavile began using Swords Dance from a distance, but Glaceon quickly responded with Charm, which only required eye contact to take effect, nullifying Weavile's newly gained advantage. It was clear she wouldn't allow her opponent to use speed and distance to build up its stats.

The clash continued with Weavile circling while attempting to get close and land a Brick Break while avoiding Glaceon's Alluring Voice. Glaceon, meanwhile, maintained absolute composure as it only focused on countering the speedy Pokémon. No advantage would ever be gained by an opponent more than twice her speed when all she had to do was exchange blow for devastating blow.

Noticing Glaceon's continued regeneration, Ronan decided to step in.

"Use Throat Chop!" he commanded.

The order was swiftly executed at the perfect time, completely catching Glaceon off guard as she attempted to use Alluring Voice again but was stopped.

"Baton Pass!" Clarissa commanded.

"Taunt!" Ronan countered.

Being slower, Glaceon attempted to use Baton Pass but was stopped again with Taunt. This put Clarissa on the back foot, preventing her from gaining an advantage.

She took careful note of the weather and noticed it was starting to lose energy. It wouldn't last long, eventually removing Glaceon's Ice Body, so she decided a reset was in order. She retrieved Glaceon, sacrificing all the buffs she had built up, and threw out Ninetales instead.

Weavile didn't waste the freebie as it hit Ninetales with Metal Claw before she could release a single move. But her mere presence was enough, as she managed to use Snow Warning. This refreshed the Hail while overpowering the Sandstorm, leaving the advantage purely at her side.

Before Weavile could even take advantage of the switch, Clarissa released Cetitan onto the field.

"What an exciting matchup, ladies and gentlemen! Clarissa gained a monumental advantage early on but had to give it up once Ronan sent out his speedy Weavile. Now she's sacrificed her Ninetales just to refresh the Hail while releasing a speed demon of her own in Cetitan, who has a confirmed Slush Rush!"

Cetitan didn't waste any time as she rushed after Weavile, immediately initiating a brutal physical clash. She charged forward with full momentum, using Heavy Slam, while Weavile countered with Brick Break.

Cetitan outweighed Weavile by nearly twenty times, so the impact of Heavy Slam landed with full force. Combined with Cetitan's immense Attack stat and Weavile's weakness to Steel type moves, it didn't stand a chance.

Weavile was sent flying from their first collision, knocked out. Cetitan was simply too much of a physical behemoth in terms of speed, typing, and raw power.

"Ouch! That's got to hurt, ladies and gentlemen! What a devastating clash! It looks like Clarissa made the right call in giving up the stat boosts and Ninetales in favor of unleashing this behemoth in its element. What will Ronan do next?"

Ronan decided to return to his initial gamble and rely on Hydreigon's Levitate to counter the speed demon.

With a flash, Hydreigon was released, but Cetitan was ready. She immediately unleashed Blizzard, a guaranteed hit under Hail weather. Fortunately for Ronan, it wasn't enough to knock out Hydreigon in one blow, allowing it to make a last-ditch effort with Draco Meteor.

A meteor wreathed in draconic energy descended from above and exploded on impact, shaking the field. Cetitan withstood the assault through sheer bulk, then unleashed another Blizzard that froze Hydreigon out of the fight for good.

"A double knockout! Cetitan is on a roll! Will it be able to pull off a third?"

Ronan cursed under his breath. He had messed up big time by bringing out Hydreigon. He'd counted on Cetitan's low Special Attack, assuming its Blizzard wouldn't be that devastating. Unfortunately, he'd forgotten that Hydreigon was already on its last legs after the battle with Glaceon.

He realized he needed to change strategies fast, so he sent out Mandibuzz.

"Toxic Spread!" he commanded.

Cetitan attacked with Icicle Spear, launching a barrage of ice projectiles that streaked toward Mandibuzz in rapid succession.

Mandibuzz weaved through the air and used Tailwind, boosting her speed as she dodged the incoming spears with sharp, agile turns. She followed up with globs of purple sludge that Cetitan narrowly avoided.

The battle turned into a test of evasion and precision, with one fighter dominating the skies and the other relying on speed from the ground.

Finally, Mandibuzz managed to land Toxic by timing her release. She waited for Cetitan to fire an Icicle Spear before releasing Toxic, landing a glancing hit. It was enough, as Cetitan became poisoned.

Mandibuzz took heavy damage from the barrage, but it was worth it. She began flapping wildly amid the bombardment, generating a powerful gust that sent Cetitan flying with Whirlwind despite her massive weight, forcing her back into her Poké Ball.

Clarissa narrowed her eyes and released Glaceon, who took minor damage from the lingering Stealth Rock before unleashing Blizzard to deal devastating damage.

Mandibuzz was slightly faster, managing to land another Toxic while enduring the storm. She then used Whirlwind again before a second Blizzard could strike.

Clarissa had had enough. She decided to finish this with Baxcalibur who could certainly guarantee a kill before she was poisoned.

Upon release, Baxcalibur took minor damage from Stealth Rock before using Ice Crash trained with the highest priority possible. Like a frozen thunderbolt, she plowed through Mandibuzz with her icy exterior preventing any more tricks from being used.

Mandibuzz took the hit and was knocked out. She had already endured heavy damage from Icicle Spear and Blizzard, and was barely holding on.

"That's the fourth knockout for Ronan, ladies and gentlemen, while Clarissa has only lost one Pokémon so far. I hate to say it, but things are looking rough for Ronan. A five-to-two disadvantage is hard to come back from."

Ronan ignored the commentary and sent out his next Pokémon. This time, it was his turn to set up a sweep. He released Kingambit, whose Supreme Overlord ability boosted its attack power by 40%.

Clarissa knew this was one of the best counterattack Pokémon. It was slow and tanky, often requiring multiple heavy hits to bring down, so she chose to prepare rather than rush in.

"Dragon Dance."

Baxcalibur twirled in place, its body shrouded in draconic energy. The move boosted its Attack and Speed, preparing it for a decisive strike while Ice Body would keep it alive in the Hail.

Unfortunately, Kingambit had other plans. It concentrated with all its might while radiating Normal type energy. Then, it opened its eyes with a murderous glint, rushed forward with blinding speed, and slashed. In a blink, a streak of light cut past, grazing Baxcalibur's neck and narrowly missing a fatal blow.

Suddenly, the small nick burst open violently from the lingering energy of the strike, and she collapsed without warning. The faint graze had been enough to knock her out instantly, leaving Clarissa and the audience stunned.

"What an absolutely insane stroke of luck for Ronan here in the finals, ladies and gentlemen! Guillotine is a one-hit knockout move with horrid accuracy, and Kingambit somehow landed it! Could this be the turning point? Will our dark knight be able to catch up? And how will Clarissa respond to the devastating loss of her pseudo-legendary? Find out after this commercial break."
