Chapter 255 - Pizza and beer

Logan let his hands fall and turned toward the door. Jean stood there, motionless, heart racing, watching his back as he walked away.

The door clicked shut behind him. And Jean was left staring at it, her hands trembling by her sides.

What just happened?

She didn't know if he would come back. But the fear… the unknown fear… settled inside her chest like a storm waiting to break.

The door clicked behind him, but Logan didn't look back.

The night was quiet, with only the soft rustling of trees and distant chirps of crickets. The wind tugged at his jacket as he stepped onto the front porch, but he didn't notice. His hands were clenched inside his pockets, his jaw tight, eyes stormy with thoughts.

Each step he took down the porch felt heavier than the last.

He hadn't meant to hold her face like that.

He hadn't meant to leave without a word either.

But if he stayed any longer, he would've broken. Apologized. Begged. And Jean didn't need that from him. Not now. Maybe not ever.
