Jared turned, his gaze softening as it fell on his son. Logan was still on his knees, hands trembling against the cold earth, his lips moving soundlessly as if in prayer.
Jared knelt beside him, his firm hand gripping Logan's shoulder. "She's not gone, son. Do you hear me? We'll find her. I won't accept anything less."
Martha sobbed quietly behind them, Hannah clutched her arm, both staring out into the dark ocean with tears in their eyes.
But Logan's heart was deafened by the crashing waves. All he could see was Jean's smile, all he could feel was the emptiness where her warmth should have been.
Still, Jared's words cut through his despair like a lifeline. And for the first time since he saw her car abandoned by the roadside, Logan lifted his head, eyes blazing with both fear and desperate determination.
