Chapter 227 - Following Dreams

The night fell deep, and cloud wisps silently swallowed the last trace of moonlight. The outlines of the buildings, bathed in silver, gradually blurred, like jade draped in gray silk.

Under the moon submerged by dense clouds, Alain looked at her face, which was sinking into shadow. The warmth of that smile had not receded; it was even more intense.

She was no longer Misha, but someone else entirely.

It seemed his guess was correct: the mastermind truly hadn't missed this chance for a private meeting with him.

"I refuse."

As Alain spoke without hesitation, a cold wind swept across the girl's profile, and the brightness in that smile vanished. She was still smiling, but her current smile showed no trace of genuine amusement.

The girl's hand brushed aside her wind-blown beautiful hair; she closed her eyes and reopened them, revealing a clear gaze devoid of emotion.

There was no trace of Misha's youthful shyness whatsoever.

"Are you the one from last time?"

Alain was referring to the black-clad girl he encountered in the false Core.

"That one? Although I don't know who you're talking about, the two of us have never met." Mid-sentence, she clapped her hands and rephrased, "Or rather, this is only our second official meeting."

"Then... that agent, was it really you?" Alain grasped something.

If that's the case, is it possible that not only was the agent in his dream her, but the agent outside his dream was also her?

But for the game to affect reality... and even give him such excellent housing conditions.

If it were true, Alain wouldn't feel happy at all; instead, he would shiver with dread.

"Mm-hmm~" She nodded lightly.

"...The one outside the dream was also you?"

"The one in the dream was me. The one outside the dream..."

Her slender fingertip tapped her smooth chin, then she shook her head helplessly, "I don't know about that."

"I'm not very familiar with real-world housing prices, and the information at the time was just what 'she' said. But when I took over your consciousness, I really did help you get a lot of freebies and discounts, you know~"

"...? So, those freebies were obtained by this person right in front of him using her social skills?"

"And I also helped with your move. Those days really took a lot out of me."

She lightly touched her pink lips.

"What the heck? This person is so good? Even helping with physical labor?"

"And I managed your finances for you, by the way."

Alain casually opened his phone, wanting to check his bank card balance. "Misha" also snapped her fingers, and the phone seemed to connect with reality.

"Holy crap..."

Seeing the cold number on the screen increase by 100,000, Alain looked at this person differently.

No! No... this was the enemy's "bribe"! Money earned to corrupt him!

By the way, the orchestrator of the dream actually used money she worked hard to earn... it felt inexplicably like a point of contention.

Alain suppressed the warmth in his heart, but he also had to breathe a sigh of relief. The opponent wasn't influencing him solely through their own abilities.

In reality, that was a good thing.

He still hoped that reality and game matters would be kept separate.

However... according to Misha and her current narration, there should be three states in which he was taken over. One was controlled by the orchestrator of the dream; one was Alain reacting while sleepwalking; and finally, a state similar to "AI" taking over.

"Ah, we shouldn't be talking about this right now." The mysterious girl, who resembled Misha but wasn't Misha, cast a hopeful gaze his way.

"The dream life I created for you, isn't it wonderful?" She turned, her back to Alain, her face towards the entire city sparkling with neon lights, "You don't need to work hard; good things just fall into your lap. Anything you want, you can have."

A giant LED screen was continuously playing a jewelry advertisement, its diamond-cut sharp light piercing through the mist. At the crossroads, the traffic lights, in their alternating brightness and darkness, cast the bustling figures onto the glass display cases on both sides of the windows.

"That's what I think too." Alain simply walked over to her side, the city's night glow spreading across his face.

"Still not enough? Although my authority to interfere here isn't quite sufficient, still..." She didn't look at Alain, merely snapped her fingers casually, "I can still manage something like this."

"Snap!"

A crisp sound, low in volume, yet it stirred an echo across the city sky.

Alain felt his vision begin to spin, and the ground beneath his feet became like a soft, glutinous sea.

When he stepped onto solid ground again, the rooftop and the girl beside him were still unchanged. However, all the pedestrians in the city had vanished without a trace.

At this moment, a curtain of rain began to fall from the sky.

It wasn't rain in the conventional sense, but... Mitas.

A Mita rain.

"Oh my! What's going on?!"

Mita after Mita burst out from the clouds, falling towards the ground like raindrops.

"Hey! You're not—" Alain clung to the railing, shouting urgently.

"Oh, it's fine, just keep watching."

The Mitas fell to the ground without any harm, then got up, swaying.

Their clothes, all of them, had been swept away somewhere during their descent.

The city transformed into a forest of Mita bodies.

The Mitas looked around in confusion, shyly covering their voluptuous chests with their arms, but they couldn't hide them completely.

"Seeing this scene, you must be very happy, right?" She finally turned to face Alain, her eyes filled with a cunning smile, "This is a sight that can't appear in reality, but in a dream, I can recreate it countless times."

She snapped her fingers again. At the same moment, the iron door to the rooftop opened.

It was a Cap-Wearing Mita, looking lost, gazing left and right in confusion.

She quickly ran over, as if she didn't see the other person beside him, heading straight for Alain.

Flash.

Written on her face.

Meanwhile, "Misha" was fanning the flames from the side.

"Here, you can do anything you want."

when accompanied by laughter, they were no longer simply Mitas."

Alain silently pulled out his phone. Fortunately, the photos in his album could still be viewed.

There were Misha's, and Millie's. Miluo had only recently arrived in reality, so he needed to take more pictures of her.

"I still have many things left to do in reality."
