Chapter 547 - Chapter 547: As You Wish

Chapter 547: As You Wish

Incineroar snarled a parting curse at Specter, a flurry of verbal abuse, before swapping places with the tumbling Rillaboom in the distance.

Since this battle had started so suddenly, Specter hadn't Mega Evolved yet, so he couldn't use Shadow Tag to stop Incineroar's switch.

After debuffing Specter, Incineroar left him to its teammate, Drapion.

Glick's Drapion was only at the main player level. He only had three captain-level aces: the previously deployed Grimmsnarl, Rillaboom, and now Incineroar.

But Drapion, a Poison/Dark-type, had resistances to both Ghost and Poison-type moves. Combined with the debuff from Parting Shot, Glick was confident that this was enough to stop Specter's assault.

Meanwhile, his ace Incineroar used the switch to appear right in front of Greninja in the backline!

It glared, unleashing its aura.

Ability: Intimidate!

At this moment, both Incineroar and Greninja were on cooldown. Greninja had just used Shadow Sneak, and Incineroar had arrived via Parting Shot. Neither had any moves available.

This was when the effect of Intimidate truly shone! The moment their eyes met, Greninja felt an uncontrollable weakness wash over him, his limbs stiffening.

"Hmph!"

Glick snorted confidently, finally feeling like he had turned the tide!

On the two separate battlefronts: Drapion, with its type resistances and the debuff support from Parting Shot, should be able to withstand the Gengar's attack. In the distance, Incineroar should easily handle a Greninja weakened by Intimidate in a one-on-one fight!

As long as he kept his remaining Pokémon ready to guard against any follow-up attacks, this battle should be his!

As for the opponent charging towards him?

Heh. In a Pokémon battle, what use is a trainer running fast? Can he rush over and one-shot my Pokémon with a punch?

Glick was brimming with confidence, completely unaware that his inner monologue was raising more death flags than an old general on a stage! His "prophecy" skills were almost on par with the legendary caster "The Oracle" from the Kubfu League.

The advantages he perceived on the two battlefronts were like reflections in the water—one touch, and they would shatter.

The next moment, Arthur spoke calmly.

"Specter, Mega Evolve, then use Dazzling Gleam!"

He first ordered Specter to Mega Evolve and use the Fairy-type move Dazzling Gleam.

This avoided Drapion's resistances. Secondly, he had noticed other Sinnoh trainers nearby getting restless, looking like they might intervene. An indiscriminate AOE attack like Dazzling Gleam would also serve to blind these meddling onlookers.

Specter let out a cackle, and his body radiated intense light.

First, the white light of evolution.

Then, less than a second later, it seamlessly transitioned into the pink light of the Fairy type!

"F*ck! Who threw a flashbang?!"

"My eyes!!"

Many onlookers who were paying too much attention to the fight suffered.

But the one who suffered most was the closest, Glick and his Drapion.

Even with the debuff from Incineroar's Parting Shot, Drapion, being a tier lower in strength, struggled immensely to tank a magical attack from a Mega Evolved Specter.

"Drap! Drapion!"

Drapion howled as the scorching light roasted its shell, smoke rising from its body.

Glick, tears streaming down his face and unable to open his eyes, couldn't give any effective commands.

The first local battle was turned around by Specter in a single move!

Arthur's commands continued without pause. "Greninja, evolve! Little Eevee, use Sand Attack to stall Incineroar."

Incineroar hadn't planned to pay attention to a baby Eevee that suddenly popped out. At this point, Little Eevee hadn't even evolved yet. His base form and small size were too deceptive, and as an ace, Incineroar couldn't muster any interest.

Who would have thought this Eevee had a unique skill!

His Sand Attack accuracy was astounding!

Incineroar just looked away for a moment, and a handful of sand went right into its eyes.

"Roar!!" — Fck, what is this?!*

Seizing the moment Incineroar was rubbing its eyes, Greninja successfully completed its Bond Phenomenon transformation. Shaking its arms rapidly, it quickly shook off most of the stiffness caused by Intimidate.

In reality, Intimidate was a "first encounter" ability. The shock and fear were most effective at first glance, but as time passed and the target adapted, the effect faded quickly. It wasn't a stable, lasting debuff like a status move.

After all, scaring someone once was fine, but you couldn't repeatedly scare people like in the games, right? That would be too nasty.

Using the time bought by Little Eevee's Sand Attack, Greninja quickly passed the most difficult initial phase of weakness.

Then, his gaze toward Incineroar turned cold.

Heard you want to fight me without moves while on cooldown?

Greninja cracked his neck, relaxed his shoulders, and with a light blue, Super Saiyan-like aura surrounding him, walked step by step toward the Incineroar who had just finished rubbing its eyes.

At that moment, Incineroar's small eyes were filled with big confusion.

Wait, I just rubbed my eyes for a second. Why does the atmosphere feel completely different when I look up?!

This vibe is wrong!

I'm the ace here!

And then, he was quickly laid out by Greninja's practiced and violent combo after closing the distance...

It turns out that in the realm of move-less combat, relying solely on Intimidate wasn't enough to dominate. Greninja re-taught him how to be a tiger in minutes.

In a short time, with just two commands, Arthur had reversed the situation on both fronts almost instantly.

It was so fast the onlookers almost couldn't react.

Then he kept his head down and continued to charge.

He didn't look up to avoid being blinded by Specter's Dazzling Gleam.

But even so, his speed was fast. While Glick was still wiping his tears, Arthur had already arrived in front of him.

Drapion, despite being nearly cooked, didn't forget to warn its master: Careful, the enemy is close!

In a panic, Glick quickly summoned two more Pokémon to protect him.

A Grass-type Tsareena and a Fighting-type Hitmonchan.

And in the next moment, his last flag came true—

At close range, Arthur felt summoning another Pokémon was too much trouble. So, he dodged, quickly cutting into Hitmonchan's guard, and threw a punch!

Glick: What use is a trainer running fast? Can he rush over and one-shot my Pokémon with a punch?

Arthur: As you wish.
