Chapter 61 - A Chat

Alex arrived home in a bad mood.

For some reason, the day's events had nearly brought her to tears.

Why had she thought Anthony would believe her? Sierra was his sister, after all.

But what stung even more was the reminder of her own situation — being broke had never hurt so much. If she had the money, she would have paid for the dress just to silence Sierra.

Alex took in a deep breath as she opened her apartment door.

Immediately she got into the room, she kicked off her shoes and dropped her bag on the floor. But she flinched when she raised her head and saw someone sitting on her couch.

It wasn't Riley this time. It was Julian.

He was dressed immaculately in his suit, legs crossed, remote in his hand as he idly flipped through channels. He looked far too polished for her living room.

"W-What are you doing here?" She blinked at him in surprise.

"Can't I drop by to see the woman I'm trying to win over?"
