The warden was eager to please, smiling so much that his small eyes almost disappeared completely. He personally mixed Jingzhe's coffee and served it to him. And then he stood by his side like a waiter in a restaurant, not daring to sit down. The desperation reeked off him like a bad cologne.
It almost seemed as if he was serving the emperor himself.
Jingzhe kept his face neutral, neither smiling in approval nor giving out praise. Assistant Xu slipped the warden a bank card and pulled him aside, to share what his boss wanted to say.
