Chapter 342: The Era of the Douluo God Realm Part XXXII: Shadows of the Spies
The universe a vast, magnificent, yet desolate existence.
To dwell in its depths is to slowly lose all sense of time. And yet, on Douluo Star, there exists a unique class of individuals: souls who venture into the unknown with nothing but their mortal bodies. They are the explorers and surveyors of Douluo's boundless frontiers.
Resources no matter how abundant are never enough for humans or gods. But finding the few, life giving planets in the vast cosmos, teeming with trillions of lifeless stars, is like seeking hidden treasures in an endless desert. This difficult task has given rise to a unique profession: the Stellar Shadow Spies.
These spies are chosen from among Douluo's limit Douluos, soul masters who, though immensely powerful, lack the resources to reach godhood. By embarking on this perilous journey, they can accumulate immense merits and redeem them for resources to break into divinity.
Yet the higher the rewards, the greater the risk. The unexplored territories beyond Douluo Star reach far beyond even the legendary Dragon God's domain, teeming with unfamiliar powers and gods. Stealth is their salvation; detection means certain death.
As time passed, the stars closest to Douluo's realm were long subdued, leaving only regions separated by vast, empty stretches. But today, Ye Wen received a report that stirred his interest deeply.
A world with an entirely different cultivation system had been uncovered.
"Chakra."
Ye Wen's gaze lingered on the report, his mind drawn into memories of a distant, familiar term. So the other side of Douluo's cosmos held worlds born from the imaginations of that certain culture. Interesting.
A faint smile crossed Ye Wen's lips. Whether it was the world of "Naruto" or any other world, he knew they could pose no threat to him. Six Paths? Ōtsutsuki? Mere playthings.
Only the distant, god like Ōtsutsuki of myth piqued his curiosity. After all, a world where average warriors couldn't destroy even a single planet held little interest for him. Yet, the thought of another world intrigued him, especially in light of his current stagnation in cultivation.
"Maybe it's time to take a stroll over there," Ye Wen mused.
Having become accustomed to the sights of Douluo's universe, the prospect of an entirely new world with new rules and cultures was hard to resist. And if this new realm harbored a parasitic race like the Ōtsutsuki clan, then tracking their source could reveal a treasure trove of resources. If he could reach the Ōtsutsuki home, the harvest would surely save Douluo Star a great deal of time in its cosmic expansion.
A sinister grin spread across Ye Wen's face.
"Your pleasant days are over, little shinobi."
He scrolled further down the report and paused on an illustration of a mighty Shinobi figure wielding Susanoo against a tailed beast. This was the era of the founding of the ninja villages.
According to the dates on the report, though, this is from over 30 years ago.
It wasn't that Ye Wen's efficiency lagged; with Douluo's interstellar empire stretched across so many realms, managing its resources and handling his administrative duties was an enormous task. Only now, with his attention drawn to this unusual star, had he reviewed the report. If he calculated right, it was likely the time of the Second or Third Great Ninja War a perfect moment for a good show.
But even so, some affairs needed tending at home. The Ōtsutsuki clan's ability to colonize and plant their god trees without restraint pointed to the existence of their powerful elites.
Boruto? Ye Wen scoffed at the notion. That world was just a desperate attempt to cash in on what remained of a failing civilization's spirit. If they could barely handle a few foot soldiers, what chance would they have against a full Ōtsutsuki fleet? A single planetary strike would obliterate them.
Ye Wen shook his head, feeling a flash of irritation. That was his childhood they had desecrated! The series that had once been so inspiring was tarnished by nonsensical plot twists and hollow ideals. Forgiveness for everything? Such naivety! And that "talk no jutsu" an utterly baffling concept in a so called battle manga.
While Bleach, another favorite of the era, at least kept its battles intact (save for the occasional overpowered bankai), the nostalgic charm of the Naruto universe had been unceremoniously spoiled.
Ye Wen shook off his irritation, turning to implement the orders necessary for his expedition. The Douluo gods, detecting his decisive shift in energy, were immediately on high alert. Something big was coming.
To an outsider, it might seem premature to fear anything, but Douluo's gods had all fought and clawed their way to the top. And after enduring long bottlenecks, any prospect of a challenge was better than stagnation.
They had no intention of lazing about in some distant realm, as the old gods had done. With their entire realm mobilized for efficiency, Douluo Star ran like a well oiled machine.
Since the Naruto world lay a tremendous distance away, Ye Wen decided to establish a supreme artifact there: a second Dimensional Gate. This would allow travel through spatial coordinates with minimal energy drain and serve as an anchor for a forward operating base.
Once preparations were in place, Ye Wen, outfitted for the journey, took a moment to bid farewell to his family. Alongside him, ten new god kings and countless other eager gods prepared for the expedition.
"Ultimate skill: Mass Teleportation!"
The Ōtsutsuki Star Domain Planet Shinobi.
Ye Wen's flagship, Boundless Ocean, made its grand descent.
But he didn't position his ship directly above the Shinobi world; after all, the moon housed the remains of Ōtsutsuki Hamura's clan, and in the shadows of the Shinobi world lurked Ōtsutsuki Isshiki himself. Scaring them off would hardly be sporting.
Those surprise packages are going to be a lot of fun, he thought with relish.
