Chapter 399: Divine Power
"So, is that it then…"
Jiraiya's head was lowered, his tone somber and heavy. But as Kakashi's hand reached for him, Jiraiya's eyes suddenly shot open.
"This is…!" Kakashi's eyes widened, realizing the threat just in time to shield himself.
"Shinra Tensei!" Jiraiya's booming voice released a powerful repulsive force, instantly shattering the office and the entire building. This destructive wave left the power center of the Han World in ruins.
A few moments later, as the dust settled, cries of pain filled the air. Although many in the building were powerful warriors, the unexpected impact of the Shinra Tensei was devastating. In such a confined space, even the mightiest could only withstand so much. Though Kakashi reacted quickly enough to avoid injury, most of his colleagues were not so fortunate.
Standing among the rubble, Kakashi's expression was dark, his voice steady but filled with tension as he glared at the smoke filled epicenter where Jiraiya had unleashed his destructive power.
"Where did you get that power, Jiraiya?" Kakashi demanded coldly.
Through the clearing dust, Jiraiya emerged. His violet eyes glinted with a new, cold intensity the unmistakable purple ripple pattern of the Rinnegan, the world's most powerful visual jutsu.
"There's nothing more to say, Kakashi," Jiraiya replied, his voice hardened with conviction. "From the moment you succumbed to that so called god, this world was distorted beyond repair. I'm here to correct that mistake."
As he spoke, a red mark appeared above Jiraiya's eyes, and his Rinnegan's violet hue shifted to reveal a horizontal pupil within each eye. Kakashi immediately recognized the transformation it was the perfected Sage Mode, once so difficult for Jiraiya to maintain, now activated with remarkable ease.
Even Kakashi, strengthened by the divine energy granted by Ye Wen, felt a moment of hesitation. He knew that, despite everything, Jiraiya was a formidable shinobi. Still, Kakashi remained undeterred and activated his Mangekyo Sharingan, enhanced by Ye Wen's divine power.
"This Jiraiya in front of me… is just a clone?" With his heightened vision, Kakashi's Sharingan perceived through the Rinnegan's techniques.
At once, Kakashi became more vigilant. If this was only a shadow clone, then the real Jiraiya had to be lurking nearby.
"Senpo: Toad Flatness Shadow Manipulation!"
"Senpo: Toad Confrontation Chant!" Jiraiya's clone advanced on Kakashi, channeling natural energy to enhance his attack. Hidden in the lingering dust, Jiraiya maneuvered through the shadows to reach Kakashi's blind spot, using the Toad Confrontation Chant to stun him.
Kakashi recognized the techniques almost instantly, feeling the subtle dissonance of a powerful illusion creeping into his mind. Though unfamiliar with these jutsu specifically, as the "Copy Ninja," he had a deep understanding of illusion principles. His response was swift and precise he fortified his spirit with divine energy, instantly nullifying the illusion's grip.
Despite his preparation, the encounter left Kakashi with a faint dizziness. "What a powerful illusion. There are probably only a handful in the Han World who could resist it."
Jiraiya's expression darkened as he watched his carefully crafted trap shattered so effortlessly. He'd hoped his former student's student might be spared, but Jiraiya's hardened resolve now drove him to unleash his full strength.
"Senpo: Giant Rasengan!"
The shadow clone made its move. Being a physical clone, it could carry out this attack as if it were Jiraiya himself. In coordination, the real Jiraiya approached Kakashi from the front, ready to strike with a smaller Rasengan, leaving Kakashi seemingly boxed in by both attacks.
But Kakashi moved swiftly, almost gliding away, dodging the Giant Rasengan with a fluidity that left Jiraiya stunned. Just as Jiraiya's clone believed it had cornered him, Kakashi turned, and the Giant Rasengan passed through him harmlessly, as if he were a mere illusion.
After the war, Obito Uchiha had been imprisoned, where Rin Nohara occasionally visited him, rekindling memories of their lost friendship. Wracked by guilt and regret, Obito ultimately chose to take his own life, leaving behind a letter of atonement and entrusting his right eye to Kakashi. When the letter was delivered, Kakashi could only sigh, remembering their dark past, but finally accepted the Mangekyo Sharingan that Obito had left for him.
As a result, Kakashi now wielded the double power of Kamui.
If Jiraiya had paid attention to Naruto's story, he would have known the details of Obito's Mangekyo abilities, but his obsession with finding a "savior" and redeeming Orochimaru had blinded him. Now, he was facing Kakashi's dual Kamui.
In the split second they passed each other, Kakashi turned and delivered a powerful kick. Strengthened by Ye Wen's divine power and the new battle techniques he had acquired, Kakashi's body was now as strong as if he'd opened the Seventh Gate.
Jiraiya's body lurched as he spat blood. The force of Kakashi's blow shattered his form, exposing the weakness of those who clung to the ideals of the old shinobi world.
