Chapter 416: Total War · Part Two
As the God of Fire, Liu Erlong had long forgotten the sensation of being burned, yet at this moment, she felt the searing pain once again.
"Ah!" she screamed, though the sound faded in the vast emptiness of space. The gods of Douluo quickly noticed her plight.
Several water gods rushed forward, trying to extinguish the white flames consuming her, but to no avail.
In the command center, Ye Wen's brow furrowed. This attack looked very much like the black Amaterasu fire unquenchable, extremely hot. But clearly, this white flame was far more formidable than the Amaterasu of the ninja world.
Given it was a fire based attack, it could ultimately be countered. But gods in Douluo skilled in spatial manipulation were rare; the complexities of space power made it difficult to master. Seeing no other option, Ye Wen decided to step in personally.
"Monitor the other fronts. I'll go lend some support. Call me if anything urgent comes up," he ordered.
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Opening a space gate, Ye Wen appeared beside Liu Erlong.
Raising his hand, he surrounded her with a layer of spatial energy.
"Come here."
With a simple gesture, the terrifyingly hot white flames clustered on Liu Erlong's body condensed into a small sphere and vanished in Ye Wen's hand.
Badly weakened by the flames, Liu Erlong looked at Ye Wen with a mix of relief and frustration.
"Go rest. Leave the rest to me," Ye Wen transmitted.
As the first Otsutsuki elder to enter the fray, Ye Wen felt it necessary to test the strength of this formidable opponent.
Ye Wen's arrival had been so swift that, despite his speed, the Otsutsuki elder had missed the chance to kill Liu Erlong. Moreover, an ominous aura radiated from Ye Wen, causing the elder to prioritize survival over all else.
"Escape!"
The Otsutsuki elder attempted to activate his space time powers, but his body froze.
"Divine Art: Spatial Lock." With a calm expression, Ye Wen clasped his hand in a seal and approached.
For mortal beings, victory often depended on life energies like soul power or Dou Qi. But for gods, it was the mastery of laws that dictated the outcome. Between similar laws, the victor would be the one with the deeper understanding, unless the opponent possessed a counter law.
"Greetings. I am the ruler of the Douluo Divine Realm, and you are now my captive," Ye Wen transmitted with a smile.
Despite his God King level strength, the elder's eyes filled with terror as he recalled the powerlessness and despair of his youth as a lesser Otsutsuki.
"I... refuse to accept this!" he roared internally, only for Ye Wen to seal him entirely.
"Exterminate them," Ye Wen ordered calmly.
Seeing Ye Wen take the field ignited the spirits of the Douluo gods. With their most powerful God King present, victory was assured.
Alongside his role as commander, Ye Wen began studying the Otsutsuki clan's elite. His findings revealed that the elders' superiority stemmed from the same principle behind the evolution of Sharingan to Rinnegan a sheer energy difference.
Ye Wen shook his head. He had expected the Otsutsuki clan to be hiding something novel, but in the end, they were nothing but God Kings propped up by resources. Without their bizarre abilities, the Otsutsuki elders would hardly surpass Douluo's God Kings.
The clan's main and branch family system had also stifled their potential.
Beyond this dimension, there was only one Otsutsuki god left, and Ye Wen's research had unearthed critical weaknesses in the Otsutsuki hierarchy. The once evenly matched battle had turned into a one sided slaughter.
Time erodes all things, and the Otsutsuki clan, having never ventured beyond a single galaxy, had already decayed. Their vaunted Ten Tails and advanced technology had been developed by a genius Otsutsuki thousands of years ago, unchanged since.
The same stagnation was evident across the ninja world and Takamagahara. Conservative to their core, the Otsutsuki had fallen to this state despite occasional sparks of rebellion.
Eradicating an entire civilization across light years was impractical, so Ye Wen employed a decapitation strategy.
"Barrier: Perfect Cube!"
A massive spatial barrier encased the Otsutsuki clan's ancestral homeland, their most important planet, home to billions of Otsutsuki in Takamagahara.
For this operation, the Douluo Divine Realm's fifty strongest God Kings had gathered, alongside Ye Wen, prepared to face both the masses of Otsutsuki and their true elites.
From the void, Ye Wen scanned his enemies.
"Izanagi, Izanami, Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, Susano'o."
In the lead, Izanagi responded coolly, "It seems you know of us."
"Of course. Knowing the enemy's leaders is basic intelligence in warfare," Ye Wen replied calmly.
"Perhaps I've been out of the fray too long and forgotten such basics." Izanagi gave a self deprecating laugh, then fixed his gaze on Ye Wen with fierce intensity.
"I realize it may be too late to ask this, but if you persist in waging war against us, prepare to lose half of your gods here today. However, if you withdraw now, I, as head of the Otsutsuki clan, swear that we will not reclaim the life planets you've occupied, nor will we expand in your direction again. We can live in peace."
Summoning his Sea God Trident, Ye Wen replied coldly, "Don't underestimate us, Izanagi. Do you think I don't see through your plans to regroup and counterattack? Today, the Otsutsuki clan has only one fate to be erased from this galaxy."
At his words, both sides erupted with divine power, and the battle commenced.
But with the element of surprise and a lineup of Douluo God Kings all skilled in combat, the Otsutsuki were quickly overpowered, and scores of them perished.
"Unacceptable!"
Izanagi's last words came as Ye Wen's trident pierced his life core. Gripping the trident, his twelve tomoe Rinnegan glared at Ye Wen in a final curse.
"I curse you! May you die a miserable death!"
"Meaningless howls of a defeated dog."
Ye Wen scoffed, finishing him off. With Izanagi's death, the Douluo Divine Realm claimed a decisive victory.
