Leonhardt drove into an unfinished building in a quiet estate, the car bumping slightly over loose gravel. When he finally pulled into a shaded corner and switched off the engine, Kaelith stepped out, his eyes sweeping the area.
The air was heavy with heat, and Kaelith raised a hand to scratch the back of his head, a curse slipping out as the sweat gathered. He turned to Leonhardt, who was just climbing out of the car, and said with a crooked grin, "Well, if I didn't know you, I'd have thought you brought me here to harm me."
Leonhardt chuckled softly at the remark, though his voice carried a hint of warmth. He walked over to Kaelith and stopped in front of him. Their difference in height became obvious when Kaelith's head barely reached Leonhardt's chin.
