"STOP!"
A voice rang out, cutting through the chamber like a blade. A command that could not be ignored.
Five people froze in stunned silence. They all turned toward the voice, their expressions filled with utter disbelief. A blur shot past them. A force struck Elder Mo, shoving him aside. He staggered, eyes wide in disbelief.
Elder Mo staggered, his mind reeling. Who in the world dares to push me?! His shock only deepened when he saw the culprit—Ling Yu. A girl?!
Elder Feng and the disciples were no better. They stared at Ling Yu as if she had grown a second head.
"Who—who are you?" Elder Feng recovered first, his eyes narrowing as a glint of ruthlessness flashed through them.
"Who I am doesn't matter. What matter is that you cannot continue!" Ling Yu stood between the stone table and the cultivators, her hands spread wide. It was obvious she was protecting the one lying on the stone table.
"I know you. I gave you a wooden token," Xiao Qin exclaimed.
"Xiao Qin, you know her?" Elder Mo asked.
"Yes, Elder Mo." Xiao Qin nodded. "I gave her a 'chosen' token." Xiao Qin sneered. "Because I chose her."
Ling Yu couldn't believe what she was hearing. "You are an Immortal. You should've helped humans instead of using them!"
The cultivators were stunned, then the next second, they laughed.
"Little girl," Elder Feng's voice was filled with mockery. "Humans should be grateful that they are useful to us." He circulated his spirit energy, preparing to attack. "They are ants. Their lives are worthless!"
With that, Elder Feng flicked his hand and sent a blast of spirit energy toward Ling Yu. She was sent flying backward, crashing into a wooden shelf. She fell to the floor, pain wracking her body. Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth as she struggled to stay awake.
"Iron Wall, no…" her voice was just a whisper.
"Hmph! You're still alive. Not bad, Little Girl," Elder Feng mocked her again. "But this is the end for you. Goodbye."
Elder Feng sent another wave of spirit energy toward Ling Yu.
Ling Yu inhaled sharply. This is it. This is how I die.
But the spirit energy never reached her. In front of her stood a tall figure, towering 190 cm in height. He crouched down to her, looking at her. His mouth was moving, but she couldn't hear him. He looked familiar. "Be caref…" Before she could finish, she fell unconscious.
"Ling Yu!" Xuan Tian caught her head. He immediately checked her pulse and sent his spirit energy into her meridians to heal her.
When her voice rang through the air, he had felt his body refuse to move. He had literally stopped, following her command. He remembered thinking, What's happening? I must stop following her orders!
And when she crashed into the shelves, his heart stopped. The impact snapped his focus back. He regretted not acting faster. Another wave of guilt washed over him. Some protector I am. Well done, Xuan Tian. Well done.
Behind him, Warriors poured into the chamber, having heard the commotion and coming to check.
"Who is that? From the back, he looks familiar." Xiao Qin asked, curiosity evident in his tone.
"Careful, he can disperse your spirit energy like nothing. He is at least at the same level," Elder Mo warned Elder Feng.
"Hmph! I was using only a fraction of my strength!" Elder Feng scoffed, his pride blinding him.
Xuan Tian ignored everything and everyone behind him. He focused solely on healing Ling Yu, making sure her life was not in danger.
Elder Feng was growing furious. This was the first time he had ever been ignored so completely. He had always been praised as a genius in cultivation. Within Divine Elixir Peak, his strength was second only to the Head of the Peak. Within the Lingxu Sect, he believed he ranked in the top five. And now, he was being treated as if he didn't exist.
He could not take this. He would not take this!
Elder Feng circulated his spirit energy—this time, he was going to attack with everything he had!
Whoosh!
Xuan Tian was still crouching down, his back facing them, as if he didn't know they existed.
When it almost hit Xuan Tian, the spirit energy dispersed into nothing. Elder Feng and Elder Mo gasped loudly. Only both of them knew how powerful that attack was!
Xuan Tian carefully placed Ling Yu's head on the floor. She was not in danger anymore. She was resting now. He stood up slowly and turned his back. His demeanor changed completely. Standing and facing his enemies was not just Xuan Tian—it was The Great Celestial General.
He released his aura, equal to that of an Immortal Saint. He had been suppressing it, but not anymore. These so-called Immortals would now learn what it meant to be powerless!
Xuan Tian moved like lightning. No one present could see him. The only proof that he was moving was the rapidly dwindling number of people still standing.
In less than five breaths, only the two Elders remained.
He suddenly appeared in front of Elder Feng. Elder Feng didn't have time to react before Xuan Tian's palm struck his solar plexus. Hard. Elder Feng felt as though the breath had been sucked out of his body. He was sent flying backward, crashing into the cavern wall before slumping to the ground.
Xuan Tian followed closely. He lifted Elder Feng by the neck, his grip unrelenting. Blood trickled from Elder Feng's nose and mouth, several of his teeth missing. His face was ruined.
Xuan Tian released his grip. Elder Feng fell to the ground with a thud, unconscious. His life was not in danger. Xuan Tian made sure of that. He only damaged Elder Feng's Immortal Core, causing him to lose all of his cultivation, rendering him weaker than a mortal. A justified punishment. Xuan Tian sneered before turning to Elder Mo.
Everything had happened in no more than ten breaths. Elder Mo realized he didn't stand a chance against this powerhouse. The sheer ease with which Xuan Tian had incapacitated everyone left no doubt in his mind—this was no ordinary Immortal. This was an Immortal Saint. His whole body trembled as he fell to his knees.
"Please, Shengzun (Sacred Venerable), have mercy. This lowly Immortal didn't do anything," Elder Mo pleaded for his life.
"You're perfectly okay because I intended it," Xuan Tian's cold voice vibrated with power, hurting Elder Mo's ears. Blood trickled out, but Elder Mo didn't dare to wipe it. It dripped to the floor.
Elder Mo's forehead touched the ground. "Thank you for your mercy, Shengzun! Thank you!" His forehead hit the ground repeatedly.
Xuan Tian ignored Elder Mo and went back to check on Ling Yu. She was still resting peacefully. He sighed in relief. He turned to Elder Mo. "Are there bedrooms here?"
"Yes, Shengzun! This lowly Immortal can show you!"
Xuan Tian lifted Ling Yu gently and carried her, following Elder Mo.
