Chapter 411 - Chapter 411: Believe In Your Immune System

Chapter 411: Believe In Your Immune System

After obtaining Steven's approval, Kal'tsit immediately began planning how to dig out the Doctor. After all, she was still sealed inside Ursus' Chernobog. Extracting her was anything but easy.

To make matters worse, the route they were on was far from convenient. At best, they could only see if there was time to make a detour after dropping Steven off in Yan.

Of course, there was a simpler method—just ask the boy standing right in front of her to go fetch it.

With that uncanny, half–instantaneous-teleportation ability of his—one even Kal'tsit couldn't fully see through—he was without a doubt the best candidate for the job.

However, Kal'tsit wasn't willing to spend such a hard-earned favor on something like this. Getting Steven to help was never easy. Now that he'd become an investor in Rhodes Island and was in a relatively cooperative mood, she wanted to save that favor for something far more beneficial—like having him step in during a critical moment to intercept some troublesome individuals from Kazdel.

Kal'tsit had prepared for that inevitable day for a very long time, and in matters of trump cards, one could never have too many.

And that wasn't even mentioning the greater, far more dreadful threat lurking deep beneath the sea. Up until now, Kal'tsit hadn't found even a shadow of a solution for dealing with that. Only Steven… only he had brought her a faint sliver of possibility.

If it was him, perhaps he really could stop those damned Seaborn. No—if she allowed herself to think even more boldly—maybe he could wipe them out once and for all.

Thinking thoughts even she had never dared consider, Kal'tsit stepped out of Steven's room. It was far too early to dwell on such things. For now, she needed to focus on the immediate, concrete problems Rhodes Island faced.

Even if Steven had provided financial support, that didn't mean she could sit back and relax. If anything, it meant there were more things she needed to handle.

As for Steven, once he finally succeeded in shooing the old lynx out of his room, he at last had the time to take a long-overdue stroll around Rhodes Island.

He hadn't forgotten the promise he made to Nian—to find her some top-tier actors. Now was the perfect time to put his social connections to use. And being Rhodes Island's newest shareholder, with the authority Kal'tsit had granted him firmly in hand, he was feeling more confident than ever about picking whoever he wanted.

This was an important mission, okay? Filming a promotional video for Rhodes Island—this was all about shaping positive public perception! It was very meaningful!

Armed with an excuse he didn't believe even himself, Steven finally stepped out of his room.

He had originally planned to casually knock on the door next to his—Centaurea's room—and ask if she wanted to walk around the ship with him. But the moment he heard that familiar sound from inside—the soft, half-mumbled sleep-talk unique to the little lazy pony—Steven gave up on the idea.

If she could sleep this well, then let her sleep. …Though at this rate, she was definitely going to end up with a tiny tummy sooner or later.

Not that he minded. In fact, imagining the softness was… kind of nice.

Thinking about the feeling of wrapping his arm around Centaurea's perfect waist, Steven rubbed his fingers together and let a mischievous smile creep across his face.

Since they'd already confirmed their feelings for each other, hugging and cuddling were only natural, right? He'd been craving the feel of that slim waist for ages. When she woke up later, he absolutely had to try it.

He shook off those increasingly questionable thoughts one by one as he walked. Before he knew it, he'd already arrived at the special ward reserved for the three Abyssal Hunters.

Unfortunately, his little swordfish wasn't inside at the moment—only the two ferocious seafood remained in the room.

Skadi, the big goofy orca, clearly wasn't an option for filming. Her poor brain cells simply couldn't take it. But Specter… as long as she didn't suddenly snap and start swinging her saw around, she'd probably be more than happy to help him.

With that thought, Steven pushed open the ward door—only to be instantly yanked inside by the vampire girl who had clearly been waiting just behind it.

"Hey, hey, hey—what's with you? Don't tell me you still want to settle yesterday's 'you didn't save me' score? That was completely your own fault, okay?"

Steven let the white-haired, red-eyed blood devil grab him by the collar and drag him inside before sighing helplessly and offering an explanation.

"Hmph. I'll settle that account later. For now, don't you think you owe me an explanation first?"

Warfarin rose up on her tiptoes so she could bring her petite face close to Steven's. Her curious crimson eyes stared straight into his, while one slender finger pointed at Specter—who was watching them with a cheerful "this looks fun" smile.

"The Originium readings on her body—why is there nothing left at all? Do you know that the condensed Originium fluid in her spine was basically equivalent to the total amount found in an entire building full of infected people?"

If Steven claimed he could cure an infected person, Warfarin would have believed it. With how bizarre he was, something like that was practically guaranteed—whether he felt like doing it or not. It was just like with Frostleaf before; anyone with eyes could tell that if he pushed a little harder, the Originium in her body would have been completely purged.

But Specter was a completely different matter. The Abyssal Hunters' unique physiology, combined with the atrocities committed by those who used her as an experiment—her spine contained a horrifying concentration of Originium fluid.

Kal'tsit had taken one look and immediately abandoned the idea of operating on her. One tiny mistake and the volatile Originium could have wiped out half a city.

That kind of severe, terrifying condition… and she comes back from one mission with Steven, and it's all gone? Completely? Not even a trace left?

This was beyond ridiculous.

Even absurdity needed limits.

That was why Warfarin wanted an explanation—otherwise she felt like all her years of medical study were nothing but a joke. This wasn't medicine; this was a miracle. This was magic.

"Oh, you mean her?" Steven shrugged. "Isn't it obvious? Eat well, sleep well, keep your mood and routine healthy. With that, trivial things like Originium infection can just heal on their own, right?"

"Believe in your immune system."

The moment his answer left his lips, Warfarin's expression froze solid.

"I don't believe a single word of that crap!!"
