Good grief. Placing the wrong 'good' card... at most leads to the death of one police officer.
But placing the wrong 'evil' card, falsely accusing a good person of being bad, will cause all the police officers to leave directly.
Without police, it's very likely the robbers won't stay behaved.

The three police officers were clearly much more important and capable than other NPCs. Though they also seemed mechanical and rigid, they could answer almost any question:
"Legal standard. The evil ones are guilty."
