Android Soga felt like he had a terrible nightmare. In the dream, he was one step away from revival. But just when he was that close, a demon suddenly appeared before him. A supremely powerful duelist.

The duel with him not only made Soga realize what an unbridgeable gap in strength felt like, but also the treachery of the world.

Duel Spirits truly need to learn to protect themselves when outside. Otherwise, if you're dueling and suddenly get NTR'd by your opponent, and then get annoyed by your own lockdown effects, it's simply a disaster.

The nightmare, of course, ended with his defeat, and it was under his own proud finishing move. His Life Points dropped to zero, and intense pain pierced through his entire body.

For a moment, he felt as if he had sunk into the deep sea, drifting in a pitch-black vortex. Icy seawater, as if from the underworld, engulfed him, dragging him into a dark, bottomless abyss.

He struggled desperately but remained powerless, only feeling his half-revived consciousness being swallowed by darkness again.

Then he awoke with a start.

Phew, that was close. Thankfully, it was just a dream. Soga's Duel Spirit let out a long breath, recovering his senses. Although it was a nightmare, it was a bit too terrifying. It took him a while to regain full consciousness and begin to look around his surroundings.

Huh? Where is this? Soga paused, realizing he seemed to be in a peculiar space. Being a Duel Monster spirit, he seemed to recognize it:

this was a sub-space, a special domain that only Duel Spirits could inhabit, a barracks where warriors awaited deployment, temporarily not sent out to battle. Hmm, commonly known as a "Deck."

However, Soga was a half-dead spirit summoned by three greenhorns, a lonely wandering ghost without a master. Where would he get a Deck space?

With a hint of confusion, Soga tried to emerge from this space, poking his head out to look around. Then, instinctively, he trembled, his whole body feeling as if it had plunged into an ice cave.

It's him! The demon from the dream!

"You're awake." You Xuan, who was currently researching a new deck build based on his newly acquired cards, noticed the peeking Android. He temporarily put down his work, turned around, and said with a smile.

He believed it was a sunny, gentle smile, surely a kind and friendly leader's smile. But to his surprise, the spirit reacted as if it had seen a ghost, suddenly recoiling backward: "You—what did you do to me!?"

"Why are you talking so strangely? Someone might think I did something untoward to you." You Xuan mumbled. "Did you forget? The Dark Duel contract?"

Soga froze. Then, the conversation between the two sides before that card game surfaced in his mind.

"If you lose, you'll become my card."

He couldn't remember the exact words, but in his mind's eye, You Xuan, like a sinisterly smiling demon, had shaken the "Jinzo" card in his hand and said something to that effect. Soga's body involuntarily trembled.

So the nightmare was real.

If there was anything more terrifying than the nightmare itself, it might be waking up to find yourself still in the nightmare. He had agreed to a Dark Duel, staking his very being. And clearly, he had lost.

Soga's Duel Spirit was very dejected. At least in the nightmare, only his clone had been NTR'd by the opponent. But he woke up to find that the traitor was himself. It was hard to say whether the dream or reality was more terrifying.

Never mind, never mind. What's done is done. In fact, once his emotions calmed down, Soga carefully thought about the card game from last night and felt he hadn't lost out.

If one disregarded certain actions during the duel that easily caused personal grievances, in fairness, Soga felt that this person was quite strong among duelists. As a Duel Monster spirit, encountering a powerful master wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

It was just that last night's game was played in such a frustrating way, making him angrier the more he thought about it. No, he had to at least regain some semblance of dignity. So, Soga, having accepted reality, crossed his arms and nodded slightly.

"Hmm, I acknowledge your strength, Duelist." He adopted an air of superiority. "But I am a high-grade spirit. To harness my power, you must pay a corresponding price. How about this: I won't demand three Tributes. One Tribute shall bring forth my loyalty."

Swish. The sound of a sword being drawn from its scabbard.

Two other faint spirit figures had appeared in the room at some point. Silent Magician and Black Luster Soldier, one with a staff and the other with blades of light and darkness, pointed at Soga's head from left and right.

Soga looked at the staff and sword pointed at his forehead and fell into thought. It didn't take too long, his deliberation lasted only about a second. Then he changed his tune.

"No Tributes needed, for my loyalty." His voice also became softer.

MD, he couldn't afford to provoke either of these two.

It was at this moment that Android Soga truly realized his situation, or rather, his low position within the team. The previous second, he still thought of himself as a noble six-star, belonging to the high-grade spirits. But it turned out he was actually the weakest one in the entire team.

Silent Magician, who usually looked harmless, could change its size at will. It could freely increase or decrease its level, becoming big or small, cute or regal. At first glance, it seemed to be only a four-star,

but when it unleashed its power, it could clearly defeat two Sogawas with one hand. As for the one next to it, there was no need to even mention it. The legendary Black Luster Soldier! Who in the heck could provoke that?

"Don't be like that," You Xuan said with a chuckle. "Everyone will be partners from now on. Drawing swords and guns isn't good, is it? Put them away quickly."

Black Luster Soldier and Silent Magician exchanged glances, then each put away their longsword and staff as instructed, retreating to the side.

"That's right. Everyone should get along well from now on and not bully new teammates."

Exactly! Didn't you hear what the master said? No bullying new teammates.

Soga had unconsciously retreated behind You Xuan at some point, secretly peeking at the two expressionless spirits opposite him. Black Luster Soldier and Silent Magician exchanged glances again and nodded.

"Then, let's have fun dueling together from now on~"

Android Soga also quickly nodded along, indicating that he would also be of one mind with everyone from now on.

The dormitory was filled with a joyful atmosphere for a moment.

"By the way, your deck from last night's duel was very powerful," You Xuan said.

Soga's Duel Spirit waved a hand, indicating it was nothing to boast about. Wasn't it still smashed by its master?

"No, no, it was very powerful. And I haven't even seen several of those exclusive Android archetype cards; they're rare cards in our world, so amazing." You Xuan expressed his admiration.

In fact, after the duel ended last night, his first thought was to "loot the bag," but he found that Soga's deck, just as depicted in the anime, was entirely conjured out of thin air. After Soga was knocked unconscious, his deck had vanished.

But it didn't matter. Now Soga had joined their big family, and family members were indistinguishable. The spirit's cards were now essentially his own; there was no difference.

Soga's Duel Spirit paused for two seconds, then suddenly reacted. He flipped his palm, and a current surged through it. Flying specks of light quickly materialized into a deck in his hand, which he offered to You Xuan.

"Yes! Yes, yes, they're here!"
