Tenma Tsukiko, Yoko's twin brother. When he appeared in the side story, he was also mistakenly identified as Yoko by Yugi and others, but at that time, he was actually under Yoko's mental control.
He was also the person Pegasus called a "Perfect Duelist."
Manjoume and Asuka held their breath.
A duel was suddenly starting, and the opponent was a legend.
If it were before their enrollment, they might instinctively feel that facing these legendary figures would offer no chance of victory.
But now, it was different.
Thinking carefully, Yugen had defeated more than just one or two legends. The most representative victims were the Paradox Brothers; they probably wouldn't want to touch a card for a while.
Yugen, in their eyes, had somehow evolved from an "eccentric honor student" to someone for whom "beating up a legend is not surprising."
Manjoume was also very curious about this guy's limits.
"Duel!" x2
[Tsukiko, LP 4000]
[Yugen, LP 4000]
"Then I'll go first, draw."
Tsukiko played two cards from his hand.
"I set one monster in face-down Defense Position, then set one card in my back row. Turn end."
"My turn, draw," Yugen said.
Drawing a card, he immediately played Professor Chronos' Pot of Greed as a sign of respect.
"Magic Card, 'Pot of Greed'! I draw two cards from my Deck."
After drawing, he immediately played his first monster.
"I Summon 'Blade Knight'!"
[Blade Knight, ATK 1600]
Current players might find it hard to imagine, but this unassuming Blade Knight was once a popular strong card in the meta when it was released.
Its base ATK was 1600, barely acceptable as a low-level attacker. Its first effect was that if you had 1 or fewer cards in your hand, this card's ATK increased by 400.
Blade Knight's active environment happened to be a period where "hand destruction" was rampant. It was common for duelists to have their hand resources obliterated. So, many times, Blade Knight would hit the field with 2000 ATK, making it a quite high-quality attacker.
Additionally, it had a second effect: it could negate the effect of a Flip monster destroyed by battle.
It's important to remember that Flip monsters were a very important component in early Yu-Gi-Oh! The notorious long-time Forbidden cards like Morphing Jar, Fiber Jar, and Magician of Faith were all very common one-card comeback Flip monsters. Slightly less potent were various Flip monsters that destroyed cards or returned monsters to the hand, serving as field-clearing options.
In such an environment, Blade Knight's second effect was also very practical.
Another important point: it was a LIGHT attribute monster. These several advantages combined were enough to earn Blade Knight a place in LIGHT and DARK-themed Chaos Decks.
Yugen: "Blade Knight, attack the face-down monster."
Tsukiko's set monster flipped. It was a cute elven girl with glasses perched on her nose and pointed ears, wearing a short skirt and stockings, cradling a magic book.
[Apprentice Elf, DEF 1500] (Original card)
A monster used by Tsukiko in the original. Unlike his brother Yoko, most of Tenma Tsukiko's Deck was never released as physical cards.
Whereas Tenma Yoko's side, whether it was the Three Wicked Gods or his original Barbaros series, had all been released as physical cards early on, receiving quite good treatment.
"Apprentice Elf's effect: When this card is sent to the Graveyard, I draw one card from my Deck," Tsukiko said. "Because she's not a Flip monster, she won't have her effect negated by Blade Knight."
The short-lived elven girl with glasses exited the field under a merciless sword strike, and Tsukiko drew a card.
Yugen took another look at the elven girl, who had dissipated into specks of light.
Apprentice Elf...
It says "when this card is sent to the Graveyard, draw one card," with no restriction that it must be sent from the field.
This card seems pretty good.
Yugen drew four more cards in one go.
"I set four cards to the field. Turn end."
"Four Set cards..."
Tsukiko frowned slightly.
"Then, during the End Phase, I activate my Set card," Tsukiko said. "Trap Card - Sixth Sense!"
"I declare any two numbers from 1 to 6. Your opponent rolls a die."
"If the die lands on a declared number, you draw that many cards."
"If it doesn't, I send cards from the top of my Deck to the Graveyard equal to the die's result."
Yugen nodded: "Then declare your numbers."
"Of course, five and six," Tsukiko said.
The die fell, rolled twice, and stopped on the number 4.
"A one-third chance, looks like it didn't hit," Tsukiko said, unfazed. "Then, I send four cards from the top of my Deck to the Graveyard."
He drew four cards in a row and sent them to the Graveyard Zone of his Duel Disk.
"Next, it's my turn, draw," Tsukiko said. "I activate the Magic Card 'Graceful Charity'! I draw three cards from my Deck, then discard two cards from my hand."
Tsukiko drew cards from his Deck. Even in the original series where Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity were rampant, Tenma Tsukiko was a particularly prominent "Graceful Charity" enthusiast, and also one of the few characters in the original who used Graceful Charity twice in a single duel.
"Next, I Normal Summon 'Chiron the Mage'!"
[Chiron the Mage, ATK 1800]
"Chiron the Mage's effect: By discarding one Spell Card from my hand, I destroy one Spell/Trap Card on your opponent's field," Tsukiko said. "I'll destroy your second Set card from the left."
He discarded one card from his hand to the Graveyard. Chiron's staff glowed red, locking onto one of Yugen's Set cards in the back row.
"Then I activate my Set card," Yugen said. "Trap Card, 'Breakthrough Skill'! I negate the effects of one monster on your opponent's field until the End Phase.
I negate 'Chiron the Mage's' effect!"
The trap flipped, and the red glow on the centaur mage's staff immediately dimmed, its effect unable to activate.
"He dodged it... However, the Spell Card I discarded was 'Reload', and according to its effect, I draw two cards," Tsukiko drew cards. "Next, I activate the Spell Card 'Monster Reborn'!"
"With this effect, I revive 'Mystic Swordsman LV8' from my Graveyard!"
"A monster sent by Sixth Sense's effect?" Gold Commentator Manjoume continued to fulfill his duty. "He's already trying to summon a high-level monster right at the start!"
Mystic Swordsman LV8 was a Level 8 Warrior-Type monster with 2900 ATK, only 100 points lower than the noble Blue-Eyes White Dragon, extremely powerful.
"Then, Counter Trap - 'Divine Wrath'!"
Yugen, without a word, immediately played the invincible old man of the gods.
"I pay 2000 Life Points to negate the Summon of a monster, or the activation of an effect that Special Summons a monster, and destroy that monster!" Yugen said. "I negate 'Monster Reborn'!"
[Yugen, LP 4000 → LP 2000]
The Divine One declared, "You cannot!"
The invincible old man of the gods majestically extended his hand, making a "you cannot" gesture. Divine lightning descended from the heavens, instantly shattering the symbol of Monster Reborn. The angel, failing to appear, once again dissipated into a phantom.
"He negated Mystic Swordsman's summon, so decisive."
Tsukiko pondered.
As the rumors say, he's a duelist who emphasizes disrupting his opponent and setting up resistance-type duels, is he?
"Then, I activate this card next!"
Tsukiko raised a card high in his hand and declared.
"Magic Card, 'Armed Reincarnation'! I Special Summon all Equip Spell and Trap Cards in my Graveyard as monsters with 500 ATK and 500 DEF!" (Original card)
Manjoume: "?"
Asuka: "?"
What the heck?
Turn Equip Spells/Traps into monsters and Summon them?
This was also a card used by Tsukiko in the original, and one of his key tactical cards. However, with such an abstract effect, it's understandable that it was never released as a physical card.
"According to this effect..."
Four cards from his Graveyard instantly flew out.
"I Special Summon the Equip Spells 'United We Stand,' 'Axe of Despair,' 'Gemini Elf' (Original card), and 'Mage Power' from my Graveyard as monsters!"
