Chapter 2 - Episode 1 - Elio V. Astrea (1)

Elio.

A strange discomfort enters his head; a strange but yet familiar voice echoes into his mind, like a whisper.

Elio.

The voice repeats; at first it was soft, but slowly it got louder and louder, the soft whisper turn to more of a scream and the strange discomfort turned into something much more uncomfortable.

OW!

It hurts!

It bloody hurts!

The pain immediately wakes him up. His head is throbbing like mad; the irritation he felt is quite unbearable. It felt like he was being stabbed by a blunt knife but in the head. It was stabbing inside his head over and over, making him feel extremely agitated, frustrated, and nauseous.

Ergh!

He felt a sudden desire to vomit, but he managed to hold it in, not wanting to ruin the bed.

Leo tries to move his body and heads to the bathroom, but for some odd reason he is unable to move or even budge, as if he has no control over his limbs.

Am I dreaming? No, you have got to be kidding me!? This can't be a dream. No dream ever made me feel such pain before. I'm awake, but I can't move. Why!? This doesn't make any sense.

Millions of questions enter his head, but all they do is just make the pain even worse. Leo felt more and more nauseous, if he didn't wake up now, he definitely would vomit on the bed.

SHIT! Come on! I don't want to bloody clean the sheet.

Just don't think about it. Just stop thinking about it. Focus on moving.

He tries to think of what to do and decides to tap his finger onto any surface object. He focuses on his fingertip, slowly raising his index finger and descending it.

Alright. Come on, Leo.

He began tapping on the bed multiple time but each finger felt like heavy and sluggish.

Come on, Leo! Wake up!

He screams to his body; the feeling of nausea doubles, and he really wants to vomit.

Come on!!!

The blunt knife kept squeezing the inside of his brain; it stabbed the centre of his head and began to twist it, making him slowly lose his mind.

I… need… to wake up.

Then wake up, Elio. It's time to wake up.

All of a sudden, the headache disappears as a weird voice whispers into his ears. He slowly sat up and massaged his forehead, unsure what that was. Leo's hand reached his forehead, and he began to rub circles around it before--

Stab!

As if the blunt knife had gotten sharper, it carved the inside of his brain and made a hole in it.

It results in his entire body jolting and makes him cough violently. Leo immediately grabs his mouth, feeling more nauseous; he tries to prevent himself from vomiting.

Erk!

He rushed out of his bed and headed to the bathroom door. As he took a step, he almost stumbled. He let out a groan as he managed to caught himself before falling onto the wooden floor. Something felt amiss, but he can't afford to care right now.

He simply rushes to the bathroom and grabs the doorknob, turns it, but fails. His hands fumble with it; he tries multiple times but fails. It pisses him off each time he fumbles; it makes him want to break the door down, but thankfully he manages to open it after multiple failures.

DAMN IT! What the hell is wrong with me?

He reaches to the sink and turns on the faucet; the desire to vomit sticks into his throat, making him grab each side of the sink. He tries to catch his breath before finally releasing his discomfort.

Bloody hell!

This is the worst! This is definitely not a hangover.

What the hell is going on?

Am I sick?

Me?

Did I get a brain tumor or some kind?

This is definitely not normal.

Is it poison or some kind?

He manages to empty out his discomfort, forcing him to cough and gasp for air. His mind thought of some wild claims, since his pain is not something he can get from a night drink.

Letting out a groan, Leo grabs a handful of water and splashes it on his face multiple times. The sense of nausea and the headache still remain, but they're bearable now.

It's lessened but not fully gone, giving him a chance to take a breather.

Shit, I need a bloody doctor.

I definitely got some kind of disease or something.

Did my smoking habit finally catch up to me?

The remaining water in his hand went to slick his bed hair to the back; he let out a sigh and went to look at himself in the mirror.

Hm? Red?

He blink a couple of times before carefully observe his eyes.

What the hell?

He move away from his eyes and look at his face.

White!?

What used to be jet-black hair has now turned fully silver-white.

He rubs his eyes, thinking that his eyes might be playing tricks on him or that he might be under some sort of delusion. After splashing his face multiple times, he looks at his reflection once again, and it is still the same.

Am I in drug or something?

Did my hair really turn white?

Did it change overnight?

He can accept his hair turning white overnight, but another problem is his eyes. What used to be a hazel colour but now turned fully crimson. As if he were a villain in a web novel.

Have I gotten mad? Or high? I never took drugs, though. So how did I end up like this?

Or maybe I've gotten colour blind? This doesn't make any sense. How do I explain this shit?

Either way, this confuses Leo.

Leo can't fully understand what's fully going on. At first, there's the unbearable headache, and now this. His face looks the same; Leo recognises his ugly mug anywhere, but upon close inspection, something feels missing.

My scar… my eyebags… Why do I look younger?

He looks almost like a teen. He massages his temple a couple of times, trying to think, but then the pain in his head slowly acting up once again.

What in God's name is going on—FUCK!

He clenched his head to the side and his other hand grip the side of the sink, the whisper voice came back but now much clearer and louder.

Something enters inside his mind that isn't his. A wave of memories forced inside his mind, and what felt like a huge hole inside his head slowly filled up with memories of a boy. A boy name:

Elio V. Astrea.

17 years old, the second child in the Astrea family. He is about to enter one of the biggest academies in the Laois kingdom, Zaniah. The Astrea family is a family of swordsmen, and it produces talented swordsmen and swordswomen alike. Except Elio.

His father, the patriarch of the family, is strict and cold towards Elio due to his son's lack of talent in swordsmanship. Elio has a strained relationship with his father.

His mother is a former knight of the Laios Kingdom; she is an excellent knight, better than his father. She passed away due to an accident 8 years ago.

He has an elder brother, who currently studies at Zaniah, and a younger sister. Elio loves his siblings but has a slight inferiority complex towards both of them due to them being far more talented in swordsmanship than him; even his little sister, who just recently picked up the sword, shows more talent than Elio.

Elio is weak and lacks talent; even in magic, he is unable to advance to the second tier.

Astrea's greatest shame—that's what they call him.

He coughs violently as the voice stops; he is able to hear the sound of water running in the faucet once again. He tried to breathe, but it got extremely difficult; his knee felt weak, but he still stood.

He managed to carry himself and vomit once again in the sink, his head killing him, everything is killing him but that wasn't what Leo worried about right now.

It's what the voice says that makes things 10x worse.

God damn it! You have to be bloody kidding me.

This... Isn't a dream.

His breathing slowly stabilised; the pain lessened but did not fully disappear. He took a good look at himself in the mirror, and his face grimaced.

I got transmigrated.

Into the body of a 17-year-old, no less.

His mind is still in a sea of mess, trying to think proof is useless to him. Leo's mind is too much of a storm for him to think straight. He could only rub the side of his head to slowly ease the pain.

Calm down and assess the situation later. Don't get too work up. He whisper to himself like a mantra.

After washing his face for the last time, he turns off the faucet and grabs the towel beside the sink.

Part of him was hoping that this is a dream, and once he is fully awake, he will be back to being Leo, but the quicker he accepts reality, the quicker he can figure out his next move.

He is Elio right now, but Leo couldn't fully accept it just yet.

He placed the towel on his face for more than a few seconds and let out a tired sigh.

Leo looked at his reflection once more, and sure enough, it was still Elio. Silver hair and red eyes—that's Elio's main trait. But another question arose inside his mind: "Why do we look the same?" Granted that his hair and eye colour are different, but other than that, his face looks similar when he is a high schooler.

A coincidence?

He wasn't sure but for now he label it as it is.

He exited the bathroom and began to look around the surrounding room. According to Elio's memories, this isn't Elio's room. Elio lives in a noble household, that's for sure. Though this room appears fancy, it lacks the charm that describes Elio as Elio. The room lacks piles of books around the place; Elio usually has stacks of paper on his desk. This room feels more like a hotel than a room.

Maybe it is?

Leo deduce that much and continue inspect the place.

Ding!

A loud notification echo inside his head, making him flinch.

"What now?"

[Welcome User.]

A golden text box with white text appears right in front of him. It looked familiar; Leo had seen this before. Due to appearances in multiple types of media, he recognised it immediately. It's too common in web novels and manhwa alike.

It's a system.
