Chapter 2 - Leaf In the Wind

Korra is seen reading a newspaper detailing the events of the previous night's pro bending matchup. They are at the table eating a meal as Korra begins to express how excited she was to see bending like that. That was only for Tenzin to squash that excitement calling the sport a mockery of the sacred art of bending.

As the two continued talking the house began shaking, the white lotus sentries looked around trying to find find out where that shaking was coming from. In fact, the shaking got so bad that Tenzin had to get up, followed by Korra, to see what was causing such a ruckus. Only when he stepped out of his home did he remember, they had 2 other guests staying with them.

Korra's eyes went wide as she couldn't believe what she was seeing.

"Tenzin, look up there! It's Winter and Tohra? ARE THEY FLYING?!

Tenzin looked and his jaw about hit the ground at what he was seeing. Winter and her brother, Tohra, were most definitely flying. They had this aura blazing around their bodies as they traded blows with each other. Not only that, they were shooting balls of light that morphed into lasers at each other.

"Giant... Eraser Flash!!!",Tohra shouted firing off an emerald green laser at his sister.

"Galick Cannon!!!," Winter cried unleashing an enormous wave of violet energy.

The two beams collided and caused an enormous explosion at the center above the water. The two of them then had their auras blazing around each other as they had several noticeable cuts and bruises. They descended back down to the ground panting, though they didn't seem as injured as Tenzin originally thought. By the time the two powered down, the saiyan siblings noticed Tenzin and his family (aside from his wife who's hand was rubbing her temples) had their mouths almost touching the ground while watching them.

The two then smiled nervously.

"😅 oh... hey there.," Winter waved.

Tenzin had forgotten, these two... they were light benders. Or at least that's the description that made the most sense when it came to Tohra and Winter. Ikki and Milo both zipped up to the pair of siblings with sparkling eyes.

"That was awesome!," Ikki and Milo said to them.

"Can you teach us how to do that?! Can you? Please say that you can? Can you?," Ikki asked excitedly.

Winter put her hands up in an attempt to calm down Ikki and Milo before looking to Tenzin for advice.

"What should I tell them, master Tenzin? They are your kids, after all.," Winter whispered.

Tenzin now recovered from his shock looked to Ikki and Milo and spoke up.

"Now, now Ikki and Milo you mustn't pressure miss Winter. She has her own training to think about.," Tenzin said.

This disappointed both kids as they did as their father said. Winter patted them on the head and smiled.

"Try not to worry too much about it you two. I'm sure we can figure something out that I can teach you.," Winter said smiling.

This caused both Ikki and Milo to perk up. She was right, they'd be able to learn something from her at a later time.

As Korra walked back with the others, she stole a glance at Tohra. There was something... off, not normal about him. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but Korra felt sure she'd discover what that feeling was eventually.

A little while later...

With the saiyan siblings trailing them just to observe, Korra was seen in her air bender's robes walking with Tenzin and his three kids. The group chatted about the principles of Air bending which winter and tohra could tell Korra wasn't getting as they walked towards the place they would begin the avatar's air bending training.

They arrived at an opening shortly after and came to a set of wooden wind gates. Tenzin inhaled briefly before using his air bending to spin the gates. He then let go of a small green leaf as it passed through the gates unharmed.

"The key is to be like the leaf. Air bending is all about shifting your balance and being able to switch directions at a moment's notice.,"Tenzin said. "Jinora, would you mind demonstrating?," Tenzin asked turning to his eldest daughter.

Jinora nodded and did exactly as her father asked of her. She demonstrated how the exercise was supposed to work as her father explained the purpose behind it to Korra.

Korra gained a determined look on her face as she prepared to undergo the exercise.

"Alright, Let's do this.," Korra said running towards the gates before anyone could warn her not to charge towards them.

To say Korra's attempt at completing the exercise was ungraceful would be putting it lightly, she not only was constantly hit by the spinning wind gates, she never made it to the other side before tumbling back out the side she entered from in a heap. That's when Winter and Tohra walked up to the group, joining them.

"Korra, master Tenzin doesn't mean to blindly charge in like that. You're too used to forcing your way through everything. Let me show you what he means. Tohra, if you wouldn't mind?," Winter said.

Tohra then used his Ki to mimic air bending by using a Kiai wave to force the gates to spin with a gust of wind. The silver haired girl then shut her eyes and began to explain in a way Korra could understand.

"The key is to be able to sense or anticipate when you need to shift your feet to avoid being hit. I don't claim to be an airbender, far from it, but I understood what master tenzin was getting at. Feel when your about to be hit and adjust your feet accordingly, this goes for each gate you pass through. You can't just blindly charge in like you did, otherwise... well you know the result of that.," Winter explained as she gracefully maneuvered through the spinning gates without even a scratch. She even did so with her eyes closed.

Jinora, Ikki, and Milo all clapped as they watched Winter pass through untouched. Even Tenzin was surprised at this.

"To think that a non airbender could even be able to pick up on air bending principles... how odd.," Tenzin thought to himself pleasantly surprised.

Korra noticed how Winter moved through the spinning wind gates and decided to try that method next time.

She looked to tohra who simply nodded at her, she raised an eyebrow at this. She never really knew what Tohra was thinking or what he was trying to say because he didn't speak much unless he knew you as person.

Winter smacked her forehead at this and walked over to whisper in her brother's ear.

"Tohra, we talked about this. She's never going to understand what you're saying unless you directly tell her. You can trust Korra, she and the others are our friends. Okay?," Winter said into his ear. This prompted a nod from Tohra as the others waited.

"Go... on... Korra. Use.. the way my sister.. showed ..you. ," Tohra said.

Korra nodded and proceeded towards the gates, much calmer this time. While Korra did that, Winter came up to Tenzin and asked to speak to him for a moment.

"Master Tenzin, could I speak to you for a moment? I would like to ask for a favor.," Winter asked.

Tenzin nodded. "Certainly.," He said. "Jinora, Ikki, could you help Korra for a little bit? I am needed to discuss something with miss Winter for a few moments.," Tenzin said.

Both of his girls nodded as he stepped aside with Winter to see what she wanted.

"Now, what is this favor you're asking for ?," Tenzin asked.

"Would you mind it if Tohra and myself kept an eye on Korra? She's not like any other avatar's I have ever heard of, which means she's anything but predictable. I have a distinct feeling that she'll try something crazy.," Winter asked.

Tenzin sighed.

"I... certainly can't argue that. Korra is anything but the predictable young woman one would expect.," Tenzin said.

"So wouldn't it put your mind more at ease knowing that someone is watching her?," Winter said. "I'm also asking this because Tohra seems unusually concerned about the avatar even though he just met her the other day.," Winter explained.

This surprised Tenzin, but it also made him happy as Korra's teacher to her that someone else cared for Korra enough to keep an eye on her.

"Very well. I'll leave her to you two.," Tenzin said.

"Thank you, Master Tenzin.," Winter said bowing to him slightly out of respect.

She turned and walked back towards the others. As she did, Tenzin became rather curious about Winter and her brother.

"Winter and Tohra.... who, or rather what are you two?," He thought.

Later that evening...

It was in the evening now as Korra kept trying and failing to airbend. She was getting frustrated that no matter what she tried, she just couldn't seem to be able to air bend.

"Come on.... air bend! And.... air bend! Air bend! Gah! What is wrong with me?! No matter what I try... I can't air bend!," She said frustrated.

Just as she was going to continue ranting to herself, her ear caught the sound of a radio. And it just happened to belong to the white lotus sentries that were on duty at air temple island. The radio was playing coverage of the pro bending matches, a popular sport among benders and those who just loved listening to it. But just as the matching was reaching its climax, the radio was unplugged by Tenzin.

"Korra, get down here.," Tenzin said not pleased.

"You turned it off at the best part.," Korra said subtly irritated.

Tenzin sighed, he knew this would be an issue. Nevertheless, he stood his ground.

"And I recall saying that you needed a calm and quiet environment to master your air bending. That sport is a mockery of the sacred art of bending. You shouldn't trouble yourself with it, pay no attention to that rubbish.," Tenzin said.

"You said I couldn't watch it, you never said anything about listening to it.,"Korra argued.

"That's beside the point Korra. I forbid you from having anything to do with that rubbish.," Tenzin said walking away.

Korra sighed and slightly started sulking. She didn't get it. What was so wrong about the pro bending matches?

The next morning...

Korra, Jinora, ikki, Milo, Winter, Tohra, and Tenzin all sat in the pagoda meditating. Korra tried meditating but felt like she couldn't sit still. She sighed.

"I think I'm doing it wrong.," Korra said.

"There's nothing to do. Just breathe. Air is the element of Freedom.," Tenzin said.

Korra just scoffed at this.

"Element of freedom huh? Yet you won't let me listen to the radio, let alone leave this island. None of this air bending stuff makes any sense to me.," Korra said scoffing.

"Korra that's.. hardly the point. Look at milo, he's a perfect example of the teachings of air bending. He's relaxed and free from his thoughts.," Tenzin said.

Korra looked over and raised an eyebrow. Milo was seen sleeping while trying to meditate.

"Uh I don't think he's meditating, he's just sleeping., " Korra answered back.

"What? Oh.. well, at least he's got the relaxing part down.," Tenzin said sighing.

Looking over, Korra's eyes slightly widened when she saw Tohra. There was an emerald green aura surrounding him as he was suspended in the air. This caused winter to slap her forehead. This was going to be a hassle to explain later. Winter poked her brother, causing him to open up one of his eyes.

"Tohra.. you're doing it again, everyone's staring.," Winter said.

Realizing his mistake, Tohra pulled in the aura that was surrounding him and floated back down to the ground. Winter rubbed the back of her head, embarrassed.

"S-Sorry about that Master Tenzin, I'll.. explain at a later time.," Winter said embarrassed.

Tenzin simply stared at Winter and eyed Tohra before replying.

"Very well , miss Winter I will hold you to that.," Tenzin said. "And Korra, the teachings of Air bending might not sink in now.. but one day, they'll just... click.," Tenzin said.

They all returned to meditate for a brief moment. Korra was still unable to not move and got up.

"Yeah, it's still not sinking in. I'm going to get some lychee juice.," Korra said as she got up to leave.

As she left, she stole a glance at Tohra again. There was definitely something not normal about him, and it was beginning to bother her. She would find out somehow.

"That aura definitely wasn't normal... I've never seen anything like that before. Tohra.. huh? What are you?," Korra thought walking away.

"Korra, wait! The meditation isn't over yet!," Tenzin said but to no avail.

"Oh! Can I have some lychee juice daddy?," Ikki asked.

"No.," Tenzin said.

Ikki made a face before Milo just fell over onto his back asleep. Jinora looked to winter and tohra, they were still meditating even though no one else was. They weren't air benders and yet, they still were undergoing the same training as Korra was. Why was that? They were already really strong, so why?

Unfortunately, Jinora's inner questions wouldn't be answered for a very long time.

Later that evening...

Korra peered out of her window and checked to see where the white lotus sentries were. Seeing an opening where she could slip by, she made her move. Korra made sure she wasn't seen, slipped behind the guards and dove into the water. She then began to swim after thinking she wasn't seen by anyone.

This wasn't the case, as Tohra was seen in the air peering down at the water below and towards the lights in the distance. Based on what he heard, he knew where Korra was going. She was going to the pro bending arena, most likely. He looked around to make sure no one other than his sister, (who floated up next to him) saw him.

Winter shook her head and lightly chuckled. "Guess you had the right idea in tailing Korra, I knew she'd try something crazy.," Winter said.

"We should follow her. Korra.. get in ... trouble.. possibly.," Tohra said.

Winter smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I suppose you're right.," She said.

The siblings then quietly blasted off towards the arena Korra was most likely heading towards.

Pro bending Arena

Korra surfaced just outside of the arena. She searched for a way inside until she saw an open window. She then used her water bending to launch herself through the window and inside the building. She quickly spun to dry herself off and rung out the last bit of water from her hair.

Before she could look around too much though, she bumped into someone because she wasn't watching where she was going. When she stepped back to see who it was, she was surprised to see that it was Tohra.

"What the- Tohra?," Korra said surprised.

He nodded. A moment later, Winter came from behind the corner.

"We knew you'd try something crazy Korra, we never thought you'd be this crazy though.," Winter laughed before her eyes softened as she looked towards her brother.

"Plus, a certain someone was concerned about you or rather, what you were going to get yourself into.," Winter said.

Korra noticed this her eyes went wide before winter cut her off. "Don't worry, we won't tell Tenzin about this. As far as he knows, we're just keeping an eye on you to make sure you stay out of trouble.," Winter said.

Korra sighed, relieved. The three of them spotted the gym in front of them before Korra began looking around. As she did, she was stopped by an older man.

"Hey you! What are you doing here?!," the man asked angered.

"Oh! Sorry sir! My friends and I were looking for the bathroom and just ended up getting lost. Sorry for troubling you.," Korra said.

The older man looked at Korra and Winter, but stopped when he saw how huge Tohra was.

"Ahem! Right, the whole "I need to pee" excuse, eh?" The old man said sceptical. "Listen, I don't care who you three are, I'm tired of you young people using my gym without paying!," he said.

Just as Korra was explaining the situation to.the older man, another bender came up and bailed them out.

"Oh, there you guys are! I've been looking for you guys.," the teen said.

This teen was a little more on the chubbier side, but not at much as some would expect. He had black hair, green eyes, and light peach colored skin. He also wore red pads or armor that were most likely used for recreational use or were used for a sport.

"They're with me.", He said

"We're with him.," Korra said playing along.

"We're together.," the other teen said.

"But not like together, together," Korra said.

"Oh, yeah! Together, as in friends! Right, big guy?," the teen asked Tohra.

Tohra closed his eyes before confirming what the other teen said.

"What my friend here says is... true. My sister, myself, and my two friends here got lost on our way to the bathroom. We're sorry to have troubled you sir. We'll.. just be on our way now.,"Tohra said as the three turned around to leave.

"Ah whatever, just get out of my gym, okay?!," the old man said as he began practicing his bending.

Korra turned to with a whisper.

"Seriously, thanks.,"Korra said.

The other teen mimicked the action.

"Sure, no problem.," The other teen answered.

The 4 walked into another room that the other teen led them into. The room overlooks the pro bending arena where teams of pro benders play.

"Here ya go guys, best seats in the house.," the other teen said.

Korra was amazed at the view, while Winter and Tohra looked around at the place. The teen joined the trio at the balcony.

"So, what do you guys think?," the teen asked.

"What do I think?! What do I think?! This place is awesome!," Korra said excited.

"This is pretty impressive, I have to admit.," Winter said.

"It's... not as big as we've fought in before.. But it is as... sis.. says.," Tohra replied.

"Name's Bolin, by the way.," the teen said.

Korra shook his hand and smiled.

"Korra.," Korra said.

"My name is Winter.," Winter said. " And this.. is my younger brother, Tohra.," Winter explained.

"Nice... to.. meet .. you.. Bolin.," Tohra managed to say with a degree of difficulty.

That's when another teen dressed in similar garb as Bolin spoke up.

"Bolin how many times do I have to tell you? You shouldn't be bringing your freaking fan girls up her-," the other teen said but stopped short when he saw Winter.

Winter saw him looking at her and smirked back at him.

"Oh? What's wrong, tough guy? Never seen a girl with a tail before?," winter smirked.

The teen in question as Bolin eventually introduced him to them was Bolin's older brother, Mako. He was better known as Fire Ferret Mako.

Mako was a little surprised by winter, he'd never met a girl quite like this one. She was... feisty, bordering on arrogant. There was something about her that he was a little wary of though, he just wasn't quite sure of what that was yet.

Mako just scoffed and walked away, that was the signal that they had a match coming up. Bolin waved back to Korra and the two saiyan siblings (not like he knew that lol).

A short while later, the match began between mako and bolin's team called the Fire Ferrets and the earth kingdom's platypus's. Korra tried cheering on the Fire Ferrets along with the many fan girls she noticed bolin had. The match began shortly after the visiting team was announced, the first match unfortunately went very poorly for the Fire Ferrets. The second match was more favorable and the Fire Ferrets were able to just squeak out the win.

Now it was down to the third and final match. The fire Ferrets didn't start out favorably as both mako and bolin immediately got pinned. Their team's waterbender bailed them out, though not for long. He was sent hurtling back several territories until he finally was nocked out of the ring.

Bolin lasted a little longer, but he eventually was sent out too. Now, it was just Mako. The fire bender was backed up all the way to the edge, about to fall into the water like his teammates did, that's when he slipped into a boxing like stance. As Korra watched with tense anticipation, Mako began to suddenly push back as he rapidly knocked the other team back towards their own side of the ring with his fire bending.

The crowd began to roar in approval as Mako kept marching forward, knocking back the other benders as quickly as they tried to attack him. One by one the opposing bender were sent hurtling over the edge and out of the ring. The last bender put up a little bit more of a fight than the other 2, but he too was eventually knocked over the edge and into the water below.

"I don't believe it folks! What a miraculous come from behind win for Mako and the fire ferrets! With that win they have secured a spot in the pro bending tournament!," the man who was likely the announcer called excitedly.

As Korra excitedly cheered for the Fire Ferrets victory, Mako and the water bender started to briefly argue. They disagreed before the water bender stormed out of the room angry.

Tohra smiled at Korra's demeanor. He hadn't known her for long, but it was nice to see her smiling and having fun with someone her own age.

Winter looked over at Mako with a raised eyebrow, he just looked back at her.

"What? Do you need something?," Mako asked.

Winter smirked.

"No. I was just wondering what that little spat over there was about?," Winter asked.

Mako went to answer, but Winter stopped him.

"Wait, don't tell me. Teammate trouble I'm guessing? You were trying to tell him what you guys need to do so that doesn't happen again, but your teammate wasn't very thrilled about that and stormed off. Am I correct in assuming so?," Winter said smirking.

Mako widened his eyes at this. This girl.. how did she figure out that much about the situation just from observing them once?

"What? Cat got your tongue, tough guy?," Winter asked chuckling.

Mako scowled at her.

"No. I'm just... surprised is all. I'm surprised you know that much about the situation.," Mako said walking to the locker.

Later in the gym...

Mako looked on as Bolin and Korra chatted. Winter stood right beside him, also looking on. Tohra was closer to Bolin and Korra as he watched for what Korra was going to do.

Korra crouched low and used her earth bending to launch a pair of earth disks into a net. This caused Bolin to comment.

"Good power. But in a real match, you'd be a sitting Turtle Duck. Keep your weight on your feet balanced and upright. Right up until the moment you're ready to strike! Then, pa pow!," Bolin explained by performing the movements so Korra could see.

Korra then crouched briefly before bouncing up on her feet and mirroring Bolin's stance. Korra kept her balance and mirrored Bolin's movements to perfection. This illicited a delighted reaction from the earth bender.

"Nice adjustment! You're a natural at this, I never would've thought you could earth bend because of the whole... water tribe getup. I didn't mean to assume.," Bolin said.

Korra crossed her arms and smirked as she responded to his question.

"No, you're right I'm a water bender and Earth bender, oh, I'm also a fire bender too.," Korra replied.

Winter and Tohra raised an eyebrow at this. They knew Korra wasn't normal and they had their suspicions on who she was, but what Mako said next just confirmed it.

"I'm confused.," Bolin said with a very puzzled look on his face.

Mako closed his eyes and sighed. He couldn't believe he didn't realize who Korra was sooner, now he felt kind of dumb.

"You're the Avatar and I'm an idiot.," Mako said exasperated.

Bolin's eyes widened in shock.

"No.. way... you're the avatar?!," Bolin said slightly freaking out.

"Huh... So you're the avatar eh? Not what I was expecting. But in a way that... makes sense. You're like Tohra then... in a way.," Winter said thoughtfully.

Korra raised her eyebrows in confusion.

"I am?," Korra asked confused.

"Yes. But I can explain more about that a little later on.," Winter said.

Korra then turned again back to the net to continue her practice.

The next day..

Korra was seen back at the spinning gates for her air bending training. She charged straight towards them again. While she dodged the first few gates, several more hit her. Soon she had enough and used her fire bending, destroying the gates.

"That was a 2,000 year old treasure and you just destroyed it!," Tenzin said.

"Well, I've tried! This air bending stuff just isn't making sense to me.," Korra said.

"That's because you aren't listening. You need to remain calm.," Tenzin argued.

"Well maybe I'm not getting it, because you're a terrible teacher!," Korra said storming off.

"Korra, wait!," Tenzin said sighing and looking distraught.

"We'll talk to her, master Tenzin. Come on, Tohra, we need to go after Korra! No telling what she'll do.," Winter said.

Tohra nodded and followed winter as they chased after Korra.

Milo then kicked some of the burnt debris while ikki and Jinora hugged their father.

"You're a terrible teacher daddy! Wah!," milo said running around the burnt debris.

Tenzin looked down sadly, realizing that maybe Korra was right.

Pro bending arena- that night

Korra had snuck away to the arena again, but in the company of Tohra and Winter this time. The siblings stayed back and decided to just observe what happened next, ready to jump in and help if necessary.

Korra looked around and was a little confused. Their water bender was nowhere to be seen. Was he just running late? She looked to Mako who simply scowled in anger.

"That freaking idiot is a no show today of all days. There goes the match... and our shot at the tournament too.," Mako said frustrated.

Before he could continue though, winter said something to catch his attention.

"Well, what about Korra?," Winter suggested.

This definitely caught Mako's attention as he gained a rather confused and shocked expression at this suggestion.

"No way. We can't ask her to do that, besides she's a stranger here and-, " Mako said before being interrupted by winter.

"And she's a top notch water bender as far as I can tell. Your team just so happens to have an open spot on it. I think Korra would be perfect for your team. You.. might need to teach her the ropes though.," Winter said.

Mako sighed in exasperation. He couldn't argue with that logic, but he didn't think it was right either. Then again, where was the harm in trying? If it didn't work out, fine. They could always try again in the future. If it did work out, all the better for it. He wanted to argue with Winter, but there was just... something about her which made him begrudgingly agree to her suggestion.

"Fine. Come on, hurry and get your gear on. You'd better not make me regret this.," Mako said.

5 minutes later...

After the announcer had introduced the Fire Ferrets and their opponents, the match began. Korra, not knowing the rules used her water bending to knock her opponent off the side of the ring. This resulted in a buzzer ringing.

"Foul!", the referee said.

"What?!," Korra asked confused.

Mako slapped his forehead, he could feel a headache coming on.

"You're supposed to knock them backwards out of the ring, not off the sides.," Mako explained.

Korra moved back as instructed. The match resumed, only for her to have to move back again due to another foul.

She was now at the edge of the ring and desperately trying to fight off her opponents. This didn't work out, however, as she was sent over the edge and into the water.

Bolin lasted abit longer but, he was forced off as well. Mako being the only one left was the last one to be knocked off.

"And that's the match folks! Round 1 belongs to the platypus from earth kingdom!,"

As she participated in the second round, her helmet slipped a little as everyone was able to clearly see the water bender was indeed the current avatar. This was announced on the broadcast to everyone watching or listening to the event. This caught the attention of Tenzin who was back at his home on air temple island.

Korra made it back to the arena again for the ensuing round, only to be knocked off... again. Thankfully, Mako and Bolin managed to even the score by winning the second round.

Korra swam over to a nearby bank, only to stare up at an irate Tenzin.

"Oh.. Tenzin, Hi.," Korra said nervously.

" And just what do you think you're doing here, young lady?," Tenzin asked angered.

That seemed to rub Korra the wrong way as she and Tenzin got into a little bit of a heated argument concerning her participating in pro bending. Korra stormed off angered before rejoining mako and Bolin in the arena. Tenzin secretly stuck around to watch what would happen next.

The third round started out poorly for the fire ferrets, resulting in bolin getting knocked out and Korra and mako on the ropes. It looked bleak when suddenly, Korra began moving differently then she had. She felt... calmer, more... at peace as she shut her eyes. The avatar gracefully moved around her opponents attacks, while shifting her movements at a moment's notice... just like an air bender.

During this sequence, she began to force back all 3 of the other benders on her own. Mako just stared as Korra began to rapidly push them back with her water bending. Excitement was in the air as a result of the sudden shift of momentum. She weaved around the attacks of the fire bender before sending a powerful stream of water towards him. The water pushed him back and out of the ring. Next, the water bender also met the same fate. The earth bender was the last one to remain. He put up more of a fight then the other two, but was ultimately defeated by several powerful streams of water courtesy of Korra.

The match had ended with the Fire Ferrets victory, cementing their spot in the upcoming pro bending tournament. Tenzin smiled briefly before leaving. On his way out, he met winter and Tohra.

"Did you two know about this?," he asked.

Winter bowed in apology.

"Yes. And we're sorry for not telling you, master tenzin.," Winter said.

Tenzin chuckled before answering.

"There is no need to be sorry. I was wrong. It seems as if pro bending was the perfect teacher for Korra.," Tenzin said.

"You're saying, it turned out to be exactly what she needed?," Tohra asked.

Tenzin nodded.

"Exactly.," Tenzin said.

Meanwhile in the ring, Bolin and Mako congradulated Korra. She looked over to see both winter and Tohra approach her.

"Hey you two.," Korra said smiling.

To winter and the other's surprise, Tohra was the one who congradulated Korra first out of the siblings.

"Great... Job. I knew... you would win. I knew you'd be fine. Proud of you.. Korra.," Tohra said.

Korra's eyes widened. It was... odd hearing Tohra talk so much when he was normally not much for that. And.. to hear him compliment her was oddly comforting. It even made her a little.. happy? That was odd. She barely knew Tohra and yet... for some reason.. she felt a strange connection to him. Who was Tohra anyway?

"Thanks, Tohra. I appreciate it, big guy.," She said.

Tohra smiled back at her. He was glad to see Korra happy. What he didn't know was that Bolin took notice of this and it confused him a little.

"Huh, I didn't know those two got along. Odd.," Bolin thought to himself.

Afterwards..

Korra, Winter, and Tohra met Tenzin back on Air temple island after the fire Ferrets win.

Korra walked up to Tenzin a little sheepish.

"I'm sorry for keeping this a secret from you, tenzin.," Korra said.

Tenzin smiled.

"You don't need to be sorry Korra. While I was trying to teach you patience, it seems as though I lost mine. Pro bending ended up being just what you needed and the perfect teacher for you.," Tenzin replied.

Korra grinned back at him before walking off.

"Oh good. I kinda promised to permanently join the fire Ferrets then. We have a tournament next month, so you should come and watch.," Korra said walking off.

Tenzin almost face faulted at this, but then chuckled.

"That girl.. what am I going to do with you, korra?," Tenzin silently chuckled to himself.

"Not to worry, master Tenzin. My brother and I will keep an eye on Korra. We'll make.sure she doesn't get into too much trouble. ," Winter said before catching up to Tohra and Korra.

Tenzin smiled at this and watched them walk off with Korra.

End Chapter

Next chapter: Chapter 3: The Revelation.

Hey guys, Novaflame6 here. Just a quick note.

This story will stay close to the cannon for... most of book 1. It will branch off into it's own story at some point cuz you know... I have to account for the power gap between saiyans and regular benders. Cooler will be introduced soon, so don't worry about that. Since Cooler is really the first major villain of this story, amon will more or less be more of a... subplot in the grand scheme of things. Just forewarning. I'll sprinkle in some of the more important events from the cannon story in between villains (Dbz/Kai, DBS, DBAF, DBXV I&II). I may even pull a villain from DB heroes to balance out the power scaling (just so the saiyans aren't the only OP characters in the story lol plus... saiyans need someone who is a legitimate threat to them.).

So below is a poll of potential villains I may or may not introduce. Plz vote to take your pick:

Cumber (Super DB Heroes)

Mira & Towa (DB Xenoverse)

Janemba (Dbz)

Xicor (DBAF)

Rigor(DBAF)

Akuma (DB: Father of Saiyans- Mastar Media fanfilm)

Golden Perfect Cell (DBS- Fan Concept)

Other (Write in or suggestion)

Anyways, that's it for now.

Setup kind of chapter with not much action. Action is coming, just not the best at describing fight scenes myself lol. I'm better at generalizing what goes on in fights. If it's not to your liking, 🤷‍♂️ I tried.

See ya in the next chapter!
